Relatively new to flash photography but in my rather limited experience 8 know the distance of the flash to subject it's the power setting for the flash that's variable. I realise you can move the sliders to get the distance you want but wouldnt it be easier to set the distance as a fixed value and have the flash power as the variable?
For the price, this app ticks all my boxes. Well done. I use it with my medium format SLR film camera, primarily for macro or near macro. Suggestions? Since MF or LF lenses tend to have rather tiny minimum apertures, e.g., f32 or f45, I'd love to see these two f/stops added to the aperture range slider. Even better would be some sort of extension factor, i.e., additional stops needed based on length of extension (tube or bellows).
Useful. Thanks. Just an idea if you can add one slider about diffuser (softbox or umbrella) that in general reducing 2-3 stops. So we dont need to recalculate.
Very easy to use. At first, thought I couldn't set to a GN of 60 (my speedlight's GN), but found you can add GNs under settings. Simple & easy!
I use it to calculate flash contrast ratios which TTL cannot handle.
Awesome app. Extremely easy and QUICK to use.
Simple and quick to use.
Just what i was seeking. Easy use.
You can only have one custom guide number. Deleting others wont let you add more. Whats the point? Hey thanks for your reply :) adding more doesnt work it just replaces the first one you added.
No comment...Great, but just uninstall! I'm a beginner, so, a better way to learn... my fault ! Sorry.
The free version is everything I needed for a single flash.
This app is exactly what I was looking for, as my Nissin i40 has no distance input / read out. However, the i40's manual only has zoom settings for 24mm thru 105mm, so I need to know what figures I input to the app's settings for the other zoom ranges it features?
Maybe next update add adjustment to distance feature. Also add donation.
Ha. Pun was not intended. Great tool with my all manual flashes.
Great tool but limited to one GN
Using a LG g3, and can't go to any other screen, saw the entry about lower left button, but that doesn't work on this phone.
Does exactly what its meant to and does it well! Devs are awesome and help you really quickly! 5 stars!
Great tool
Great app easy to use and looks great.......great job
It works great. On my Galaxy 5 Active you must hold down the lower left button for 2 seconds to bring up the settings menu. This is a phone issue not an application issue!
It's so darn easy n so helpful.. 😉 🙋👌👆👏
What about the settings for the zoom?
been searching for an app like this. even tho lot of people don't use the guidenumber system anymore. for those who shoot with manual flashes, no matter u are strobist or a film shooter. this app can comes in very handy! no extra permission is a plus (compare to version 1.x) and this app is TINY! GOOD JOB! If anything on the wishlist, it would be 1/3 stop on power setting
But a simple checkbox choice between zoom or non-zoom would have been much better than "set the same guide number for each zoom position.". Yeah, nah. Suggestion: a list: First entry in the old style - a simple slider for GN - max/min defined by user. Followed by a number of (standard and) user defined entries for zoomable units. This would allow those of use with numerous strobes to easily select between the ones we can't zoom with the old GN slider, and the ones we can zoom by selecting a different strobe definition from the list. Preferably also allow us to define the focallenght for the various zoom GN rather than have to pick from an assumed set.
It does what it is supposed to do. I like it!
I don't really understand this app. I'm not sure what it's trying to tell me, lol. There are no instructions, although I shouldn't need them. It's just a simple formula. Why all the extraneous stuff? I found a much simpler calculator that gives you either the distance if you enter the aperture or it gives you the aperture if you enter distance. The only other thing you enter is the flash's guide number and the ISO.
