Manual Of Zen Buddhism

Manual of Zen Buddhism by Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki (1935) was fully intended to be an actual Zen manual, full of liturgy, ritual and explanations. D.T. Suzuki, the preimminent and enthusiastic ordained Japanese Zen Scholar, presents the subject matter as always with perfect confidence and numerous flying sparks. Good book to have on hand if learning how to perform formal Japanese Zen liturgy or hosting your own sittings.

I absolutely love reading this. Almost finished, and the reading was very interesting, I wanted to get a good idea of what Buddhism really entails conceptually and I think I got exactly that. Some sections are just so beautiful that they helped me grow spiritually as I turned the statements in my mind over some days, especially the Lankavatara Sutra and the speeches from famous Zen masters.

Indispensable app for working with zen history, practices, philosophy, and thought. It's extremely great to have all this at my fingertips on phone & tablet at any moment. I can use this when I'm focusing on this material & practice, and when I'm just between activities and wanting something meaningful and compatible with my mindset to read or absorb. Has many uses at many times in daily life and at special times too!

I would be more than willing to pay for this app to be ad free as they truly disrupt my relationship with it.

A good read on one of the greatest philosophy schools, as well as the fastest growing religion in the world, the ads I saw didn't really bother me and this is a work to be praised. peace.

All in all this app is interesting for those who want to read primary materials from Zen Buddhism. However, it doesn't respond optimally to touch, adds may be annoying when you wish to close yourself off while reciting and the options menu doesn't work. The translation is good, as opposed to many other English sources of Zen texts and the navigation works really well.

D.T. Suzuki provides the most reliable and authentic teachings on Zen. Thank you for this beautiful offering. Also seek out 'Zen flesh Zen bones' by Paul Reps & Nyogen Senzaki (book form only). You will never look back.
