Manyverse is a very welcome addition to the family of SSB (secure scuttlebutt) clients, and for an early beta stage app it does what it aims to well. I've had issues where posts I'm editing disappear in cases of the phone rotating which is frustrating behavior, but not terribly odd for beta. The most important features I'd say are still needed are the ability to use #channels that other ssb clients make use of, and the ability to post attachments (pictures at least). Oh, and documentation.
Stuck on building libraries all the time. When it does work, which is never, it will stop working after a few minutes to rebuild libraries again... Also it's not possible to hide notifications of who followed/unfollowed/blocked etc. in the feed. It's an okay concept but it really needs work and is not usable at the moment.
Manyverse is working perfectly so far. The user interface is clean and easy to understand. Without any prior experience, and thanks to the "easy-ssb-pub" tutorial on scuttlebutt.nz, I managed to create a "pub" server and to connect to my friends with it.
An easy way to get started on Scuttlebutt. Only one star right now because at time of writing I followed two pub servers to look for friends and now the app is stuck "building database indexes... this may take several minutes" so I can't unfollow the pub servers and take back control. Thus the app is locked up and I can't use it. It's in beta and a patch is coming out next month. Hopefully it's going to be okay by then.
Great concept. But I was not able to connect with either of the friends I tried it with, so it failed at the first hurdle! I look forward to trying v1.0 and a less buggy app. UPDATE: now (9 Jan 2020) keeps on crashing at load (v.0.2001.7 Google Play)
It has a lot of potential, but it currently crashes periodically, spends a lot of time updating, and is missing features (# channels). I don't recommend this for most people right now, but it could be great in the future.
still missing search, but it's on the roadmap. truly amazing and unique app, you won't find anything similar in the whole store!! also still very technical, though.
Could you allow to share more than one picture in a post? Also there is an issue with the connecting to other people directly, by sharing the link, (without pub). Once finished, we can not connect to each other.
Fantastic Stuff, Grats Andre Staltz on getting this out into the world! edit 3 months later: wow! it's so incredibly stable now! you did a great job building this app! feature request: private messages; I've gotten a few, but can't read them right now.
So far so good. Can't figure out how to change my avatar photo, though. I feel like in "Edit profile" mode, I should be able to tap the default avatar and change it, but no.
Just downloaded it, created the profiles and it seems pretty cool. I have some great ideas that I think could be a game changer though. If you are open for suggestion you can get in touch with me.

Can you make media (photos / videos / gifs) shareable in chat? Also ability to save post as a draft? And please add search. Excellent work by the way, really looking forward to see this becoming more mainstream?
This app is so great! I can finally communicate with my friends online without our relationship being a valuable commodity owned by social-media giants. Since all messages are stored locally and gossiped directly to my friends devices, I can even read and post while offline!
What's wrong with this app? Works fine... until I click to create a new account. Then it crashes and exits sadly. Versions from 2019 work tho.
Andre~ I want #hashtags, Search Engine, attachments other than self record audio and picture (if video can play ay web browser), word file, videos. Allow attachments for private conversation, able to rename desired nickname of the private conversation. Like 'Anti-Corp Soc Med Legion'. Allow hastags on private conversation but viewable on @mention users in the private conversation group. Else this app is awesome with ssb #room. (Docker required) :D
No introduction to the concepts of Scuttlebutt or offline sharing. If there is no ability to edit/delete content (or at least prevent publishing?) then it's too rigid for regular users.
What a groundbreaking and revolutionary p2p app/frontend for scuttlebutt! Cant wait to see how this grows. It seems bluetooth is in the works and i saw online where lora compatibility is being worked out
Work still needs doing with DHT connections but it looks like a promising app and can't wait to see how it develops.
Great client to access the Scuttlebutt network. André does monthly releases! And since it's open-source you are very much welcome to contribute to the development of the app.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've got two phones with two different instances of the app. I can't seem to connect the two no matter what I do.
There are problems in the application sent in one direction and also comment. Please repair this problem. Thank you for the distinguished application
App experience is smooth despite being in beta still. Looking forward to connecting with my friends off grid!
Unfortunately, these anti-Facebook projects are ran by nerds without any sense of reality. Manyverse is no exception: I've installed and launched it, and then what? An empty screen with buttons like subscribe to pub servers. How can I find servers? I can I find topics or contacts? Do you really believe the average user will leave the FB sharks and rummage Internet to get how to make this working? I'm an IT expert looking for ways to fight the sharks, yet I sadly I've uninstalled this poor app in one minute.
Tablet support would be nice. Does not work on my Chromebook even though I am able to install it via the Play Store :(
Love the idea! I wish a few things were fixed though: Can't change profile photo Can't edit/delete posts Can't see how many comments are on a post 5 stars since it's a good beta
Not able to sync between phones on our data plan. The idea has promise, but it didn't work for me at all.
Great idea. Application is still raw, so it's only for people who is ready to help developers to make it great.
don't waste your time, it doesn't work. their text is either wishful thinking or false advertising. terrible quality app.
Very cool concept. You can choose to post quietly on your own timeline (like writing a diary), or choose to share it with your friends. You can also create a family-member only social media when connected to the same network!
