MAPtoHIKE is a unique and rewarding hiking & walking tracker for all hikers and mountaineers. Record your activities on your trails, collect badges, participate in scavenger hunts and compete against other users in international contests and receive rewards for your performance by winning great prizes. • Track your hiking activities like distance, altitude or pace – no permanent internet connection required
• Check your current position on the map and see where you have been hiking
• Just start the tracker, put your phone in your pocket and enjoy the hike!
COLLECT PINS & GIFTS
• Get rewarded with badges for your sportive activities: Hike 1.000 vertical meters to collect the 1.000 Vertical-Meters-Badge, for example. There are also badges to unlock on specific daytimes or location-based events

Unable to take it off metric. This makes it useless for American users. Make the units changeable and you'll increase your downloads.

I checked out this app for its offline functionality. But then found that it works really well. It does exactly what I want and seem to do it flawlessly. Kudos to the developers. It isn't even battery-thirsty. ☺ 5 stars for sure.
I have installed MapToHike on my android phone to try it out. Sadly, the GPS functionality does not work as expected. The app pops up a notification to enable my GPS, independently if its already enabled - the app shows my position but everything else does not work. I have written an e-mail which describes the problem in detail - I didn't get any response after one week. Therefore, i give only one star, because the app is completly useless for me and by the fact nobody reacted on my bug report. Nevertheless, everybody should try the app, since it has an option to try out the app without a registration.
