Marantz is not a software company and this app is proof. I like the concept of being able to control my stereo on my phone. Unfortunately, the execution of that concept is quite poor in this app. It's unresponsive, buggy, prone to crashing and often requires you to unplug the stereo before it discovers it on your network. The UI is not polished and is somewhat confusing to navigate too. If I had bought my stereo specifically for this feature, I would have rated it two stars at best.
It's impossible to describe how awful this app is. I have never seen anything like it. The M-CR611 is fine when it works which, with this app, is almost never. If it plays a source at all it crashes regularly but now I can't get it to play from any source other than Bluetooth. Restarting or reinstalling used to make a difference but no longer seems to. I'm at a complete loss.
In case it helps anyone else here. This app was hopelessly useless and broken when my CR611 was connected to my wireless network. After I switched the CR611 to using a wired network connection with static IP, the app now mostly works quite well. Still have an occasional hiccup, but it is now very usable compared to essentially non-functional on the wireless network. Overall disappointed at the lack of quality of the app compared to the CR611 which I am very happy with.
Absolutely terrible. Drops connections. Forgets connections. Refreshes indefinitely. List of compatible devices empty. List of incompatible devices empty. Valid i.p. of device is an invalid i.p. address. Muddled up media server content. Multiple ( sometimes 5 or 6) versions of content on server. This app only works reliably if I rely on it to fail completely and walk over to my MCR 611 and use the buttons on the thing. Infuriating. NO STARS!
An utter embarrassment to Marantz, with such poor synchronisation that it often becomes useless. Slow, confusing interface that looks like it was thrown together by an incompetent novice. Used with Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Samsung S7 Edge so the phone definitely isn't the issue. Sort it out, Marantz, or the unit is going back to Richer Sounds and I'll never go near your products again. Shameful stuff.
A very flaky and basic remote control app. That wouldn't be so bad if the connection didn't drop out all the time, or uncomplicated actions like changing speakers actually worked. You'd be better off getting out of your chair and pressing the buttons.
Dreadful app. Unintuitive, buggy, almost unusable. I've been hoping they would fix it for 3 years now. Still rubbish. This really let's the Na6005 down, as without the app it is almost impossible to use as well! Time to employ a user interface professional I think.
Brilliant! The rating scared me, but I downloaded and this app is rocking! Internet Radio files and adding favorites, adjusting the EQ, switching sources, no glitches or delays... Just spot on works. A great add for a Brilliant machine. Thank You!
Absolutely awful. I've had my marantz hifi for years and it's never worked properly and now won't work at all. I have no idea how to fix it and so only option is to throw it out. Won't be replacing it with a marantz that's for certain.
Okay, the latest update lets the app start on Android 8, while the previous version only started on Android 10. But it never find anything on the network. Cleared app data. Rebooted. No change. Come on, it was always unreliable but this is rubbish.
This app is far too unreliable, very disappointed with Marantz for not doing anything to sort it out (not been updated for 2 years). Used the app this morning but tried to use it again now and it doesn't find the MCR 611. Thinking of buying something from a different manufacturer as this is very frustrating. Have updated the app this morning and now can't get it to open on my phone or tablet.
finally got app to work on new android w CR610, some tips: if app cannot find marantz player, check router has wmm and upnp enabled, also try to set marantz player network control->off, power on/off, then network control->on. for music server control, ensure android device also has permission to music server, only marantz player has access is not enough. besides the set up issues, now everything is working for me. one improvement, maybe allo option to not stop playback when android app is exited
March 2020 update: they fixed crashing issue for Android 8.0. Basic functionality is restored. Thank you! Crashes instantaneously after the latest update. Unusable at the moment, please fix!! * Update: STILL broken after 10/24 update! Again it crashes upon app launch. Android 8.0 LG V20.
App is constantly disconnecting from my NA8005 which is connected directly to my router which is serving as a dlna server. Other dlna players work fine in this configuration. The app is also not very intuitive. For such wonderful sounding equipment I would expect better app development.
I have two Marantz NA11S1 for more than 5 years now. I bought them new to enjoy great streaming experience. However, the Marantz apps are a total disappointment right from the start. Imagine the embarrassment every time you want to demonstrate your high-end hifi to a friend and it just does not work! I really cannot understand that Marantz does not take their apps and their customers more serious. It was not great before, now the app is a total disaster.
A confusing and now also broken app with regards to internet radio, requiring an annual subscription to an internet radio station search service to find and store stations. It's a shame that companies are not recognising the importance of backing up good hardware with good software.
Doesn't seem to work. I'm not even sure which app to use with my 7010. This is disappointing considering the cost of this system. It looks like everything is moving to the HEOS stuff. But there doesn't seem to be a HEOS update for my 7010.
This has always been a pretty flaky app but since my phone went to Android 10 it will not even startup, let alone control anything. It still works using my android tablet as that is on an older version of Android. I think Marantz should attempt to keep up with updates as there is such a thing as repeat business. They are unlikely to get mine as it stands.
This app is an utter joke. such a clumsy user interface, hardly updated in five years, crashes every two minutes. Regularly forgets my network streamer so hardly ever works. A total shambles. in the five years since I've had my network streamer, this app started out rubbish, and hasn't got any better since.
The app is flaky and crashes from time to time on my Pixel 2 (running Android Pie). But after updating my phone to Android Q the app won't even start anymore... I hope to see an update soon...
Why there is no support for NA6006. It is 2022 everything is controlled by apps obviously Marantz didn't get the memo. A $1000 network player no app support! It should 0 stars unfortunately not an option.
Disappointing: it quickly and constantly loses contact with the device and it requires a restart to reconnect. A better UI is also desired.
A lot more stable since I connected it directly with an ethernet cable. UI is not brilliant but useful enough.
Terrible app. Slow to respond. Hard to change settings. No Amazon prime music. An upgraded app would make this great receiver so much better.
Since 2/3/20 update it works again. But I can't browse internet radio, nor scan for stations on fm. I get no pleasure from using the app, but at least I can now turn up the volume from where I am. The claim that this is a complete rebuild seems odd, it looks just the same and is still full of bugs.
