Master Violin Tuner

I'm not musical (at all- not through lack of trying!) and trying to support my 7 year old having virtual lessons on violin, but needed to tune it. This app is easy to understand and has helped enormously, plus it's free and has minimal unobtrusive ads. Would recommend if you need to tune a stringed instrument- particularly if like me you don't want something over complicated.

Excellent app, and not just for tuning. I'm a beginning violinist, and I don't have the ear for identifying notes. This app allows me to not just tune the strings; it helps me to learn the correct finger position for every note with a simple scale that clearly shows the accuracy of the notes I'm playing. I recommend this app for anyone from beginner to master.

It's clever and I like all the options. But I'd rather just a pure digital tone on a synth rather than a digitally sampled violin with a load of vibrato. (Though how you get vibrato on an open string is rather beyond me.😏) Also the bottom G is the only string which sounds pretty much spot on. Although that could just be me. I do seem very finicky when it comes to tuning. (And equal temperament pretty much ruined anyone's chances of actually being in tune!) Anyhow, fine for what it is.

I love this app. It's very useful and makes tuning my Violin a lot easier. My only complaint is when I adjust the volume of my phone so I can hear the notes clearer, the volume on the app does NOT adjust with the volume of my phone, and with the quietness of the sound from the app it makes it more difficult. Especially when I'm trying to learn by ear to tune.

I really recommend it as it's accurate,and easy to use. Tip: to prevent breaking your strings: If your string is REally out of tune and lower than the note,then BEFORE using the pegs,loosen the string using the finetuners untill the tiny piece is all the way up then proceed to tighten with the pegs SLOWLY,As soon as you're close to the note by say 30 Hz then stop using the pegs ,and use the fine tuners only. Important: you don't need to reach the exact note, really ,up to 20 Hz less is OK ^_^

This app is a great help in tuning my violin. It's been untuned for 10 years now and with this app, I'm happy that it's now completely tuned. Though I should say that using this app would be confusing for beginners since only the notes are indicated. I suggest that this app should tell/automatically denote whether the note should be tighter (to achieve high notes) or looser (for low notes). I think that would be useful for those complete beginners who don't have a clue with note reading.

I noticed a lot of negative comments, saying there aren't instructions, it does not help in tuning, people break their strings, etc. Please, this is the best application for tuning your violin. It's accurate and customizable. Pick or bow the strings and SLOWLY adjust with the pegs. If you do it to quickly, you definitely will break your strings and that's what fine tuners are for. Read the app description so you know how the app works and won't give it a bad rating because you don't read.

I don't play violin - I was looking for someone else. Violins are most often tuned in perfect fifths, but this defaults to "Equal tempered", which makes more sense if you are playing with a piano than an orchestra. If you set the temperament to Perfect Fifth and the A4 to 440, I think E5 should be 440*3÷2=660. It isn't. You get the right frequencies by selecting "Pythagorean A". Perhaps that should be the default. BTW I'm told the most common current U.S. orchestral standard is A 441, not the old-fashioned default A 440. But - I'm not an expert, so maybe this isn't quite right. In addition to better defaults, it needs better instructions that explain these sorts of things, and give step by step instructions. (Maybe the lack of such instructions is why some people broke their strings??) You shouldn't have to push a button to start tuning - it should be in tuning mode any time you aren't pushing a string to hear the pitch. (If you turn on Airplane Mode, the phone won't ring while playing with others, and you see fewer ads.)

It's great! I'm a beginner at grade one and lock down made it so I couldn't get my violin tuned tuned by my teacher. I downloaded this after trying to tune it with the help of my teacher and its amazing! I know what each note is meant to sound like and soon I should be able to tune it by ear. Definitely recommend it for beginners especially 😁

Does what it says. I paid for the free of adds. Would like to see more options in the instrument options than just violin. Viola would be nice, guitar and piano. Would save me paying for separate apps. Also I like your clear , colourful and clean layout. Great work team.

Very sensitive, so you have to be in a quiet room becasue it picks up on outside noise. Very accurate for me! I dont have to switch strings, it picks up on each note that I want to play. Just push the button to start tuning :)

Seems to be very accurate and is simple to use but with enough detail to really make it easy to see whats going on constantly & most importantly there were no unecessary major privacy invading permissions like another major app of the same type.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do! It plays the four open string sounds on touch. Plus it graphically shows how perfect the note you played is while tuning your violin. The ads do not bother much either. The best violin tuner on the playstore.

Best violin tuning app. Tried a bunch this was easiest to use. The analog meter is handy for telling if your tuning is off too high or low, the audio sample of the strings help figure out if you're close and want it should sound like. Ads are unobtrusive.

A great lot better than the other tuner apps that I tried. Aside from tuning each string, this App also allows me to check if I'm on the proper finger point in all the other range of notes for each string. Great help!

I learned how to play the violin in elementary school. I learned how to read the music and where the fingers go on the strings. 4th thru 7th grades....I haven't touched one since then. I decided to buy another violin and see how much I remember. I'm 66 years old now. I realized that I never tuned my violin. the teacher always did it. This app saved me. I cant play very good(yet), but my violin is in tune!

Amazing app! I'm a brand new beginner. I've never tuned anything. I was struggling with the physical tuner I had bought. But this app helped me tune my violin in an hour (I broke the E string and had to replace. Oops.) But now she's ready to go and I'm overjoyed that I was able to do it myself. 👍👍👍

Good tuner, except that there is vibrato on the tuning pitch. This app would be better with just a straight pitch. It just makes sense, since that is what the rest of the world does.

Started fiddle at age 74. This app has made the learning process much less frustrating than I expected. At least the need to keep an instrument in tune. My other instrument is blues harp which never need tuning 😁

I am brand new at tuning my violin. This app is so handy and the fact that it shows on the scale where the note is it is not necessary to have to have a good i ear makes it so much easier.

Great app it does the job I have downloaded many tunes but this one is simple easy and practical. Because it's showing the number on there each note you know you're high or low.

This works very good .previously I installed da tuner it was working for a while, now it's not responding so I change to Master violin tuner ,and its working very well .

I would have give it 5 stars for the functionalities, but the ads lately have become too intrusive, so I am considering uninstalling it and getting a different one.

Very useful and easy to use. Additionally, it gives an overview of other notes, so it can also be used as a guide for finding notes with the fingers. 100% recommended

It's easy to work with and effective but I think it can have other options. For example tuning all of the notes of the violin in addition to the four main ones.

Good tuner and accurate. It could be improved if it was possible to specify which notes to tune to. I have one piece of music which requires tuning to D# rather then E.

Not very good at tuning. Also a bit fiddly to work with. Wouldn't reccomend this to grades I-3 if you don't know how to tune because it's not that great. Good for playing the notes though. (●__●)😑

I've been using it for quite some time now, and I'm very happy with the app. The latency is very good, the accuracy as well. I'm no expert but this app helped me a lot at the beginning of my violin journey :)
