MasterClass: Learn from the best

Masterclass itself is good, but the app is terrible. Hard to navigate the different lessons of one Masterclass, as well as the different classes available. Next to nothing useful for personal profile/progress. A glorified video watcher that doesn't even work; videos can't lock in one position and keep flipping between vertical and horizontal,which makes watching videos next to impossible.I put my phone 'lock-orientation' and it glitches(works with all other apps). They've worked a lot to improve features from the first time I tried this service however with the most recent update you can't press play in a class. It's totally bizarre. The lesson will start automatically but if you pause it, the play button ceases to work And it's stuck until you back out And start over. Renders the app unusable. Cool ideas but not functional interface. Ps. I did open a support ticket and the issue was not resolved.

I subscribed the app in 2020 during my Easter Covid19 lockdown. Later on did not watch anything much that I totally forgot I have this app. Until April 2021, it authomatically charged on my credit card bill. The refund process was so complicated that I gave up and forgot about this app another year that it later on automatically charge on my credit card bill again in April 2022! I think I'd better cancel my credit card to end the subscription then.

This app kills me. It won't automatically play the next lesson in audio mode, and it will pause for no apparent reason. I'm sick of this stupid app. I uninstalled it, and thought I'd try again a few months later. So disappointed, the content is magnificent.

Score updated because there were some improvements. It would be great if you could address these annoyances: 1: subtitles often out of sync. 2: "my list" not available on Google TV version of the app

Beautifully filmed, well organized classes by some of the best in their fields. Seriously, what's not to love? Chosen presumably for their passion as well as their skill, the teachers are articulate, thoughtful and so inspiring. If this wasn't so expensive I'd buy it as gifts for friends!

The Good: - Interesting and varied content. - Good format and PDF guides are a great touch. The Bad: - Limited content, library not big enough. - Lack of casting/ TV integration. - subscription model is expensive for what you get.

I was waiting for the newest update to make this review, hoping that the app quality would be improved. It has not. The MasterClass app does NOT allow you to search for classes anymore, which really defeats the whole purpose of having the app. Please fix this error, thank you!

The content is very educational and presented in well put together and easily digestible way, however the application format is very difficult to use. I would rate it higher if the app was more user-friendly, they make it difficult to find the class you had watched previously and even harder to re watch an episode, for it cuts out half of the titles and you have to be quick because it resumes at the last 3 seconds of the episode. It also has lots loading issues. All in all not worth the money.

A subscription was ordered in my name and I can't afford it and masterclass will not refund my money. Years ago I bought two single classes in one year. That is all I ever could do. The classes are really good but a mistake has been made and it has put my finances in trouble and my health in trouble. I was shocked to see all of a sudden 1670 deducted from my checking account. Now my food account is not there for the rest of this month because of your subscription attributed to me that I did not

Don't buy!!! After signing up they do not offer any way to cancel or stop subscription. After contacting their support multiple times with no response I am now having to hire attorney to put an end to this problem.

For people who want to view on a TV don't bother you'll be resorted to your mobile or laptop. Looks sleek & a great brand but functionality is so poor with chrome casting as well as being far behind any other video playing / streaming service with ease of use. The tech is out there in abundance & this is just miles behind with its backend development by the feel of it. I can't even cast @ lowest quality from my laptop let alone at all from my phone with speed tests between 50-70mbps.

Content is okay. App is awkward. If you get off of the episode you are on accidentally, plan on five minutes to get back. Unhandy for walking. Loses place constantly. The instructors are full of themselves and talk a great deal aimlessly. You have to push to get the ideas from the context, can't sit still while they go off and chase tangents. This is supposed to be learning on the go. You better sit still and not touch your device.

Amazing content and app! Amazing support! I came back after my initial subscription in 2018 and it was ok. Now the content is both entertaining and useful for someone who's as curious as me. I love that these MasterClasses are held by experts that we follow on TV and in the media. Also there was a problem where the content was buffering depending on your region, I was struggling in Dubai. They fixed it and now it's flawless. Thank you MasterClass team plz maintain the quality.

The content is fantastic, the app is terrible. Really hard to navigate to the classes you have in progress. The interface is really focused on pushing new content, not on engaging with what you've already selected, which should be the primary purpose.

The experts here are stars in their fields. Rather than teach technical craft they tend to discuss the art. So a writer, for instance, teaches you more about the personal struggles than any grammar at all. If you use these classes you will get your money's worth.

Very disappointed.. the app is fine but we should be able to watch it on tv or elsewhere. I dont have an ipad so watching hours of classes on a small screen is absurd considering the money I paid for this. The content is really not that great.. ive learned more from youtube then this app. HUGE waste of money. Strongly regret purchase and would never reccomend.

I go to college for roughly 300 dollars a credit hour (Aka super cheap). For a 3 credit hour semester class it comes out to $900 for 1/3 of a year. Sometimes a class is just teaching myself with videos from some professor. Master Class is only 180 dollars a year for unlimited classes from EXPERTS in the field. The videos are well done and engaging, and there are workbooks. When is the last time you used algebra? I'm cooking and getting enough sleep every day thanks to MasterClass. Beat that.

I've been a fan of masterclass for quite a while, I just wish they weren't so greedy and introduced a monthly or even quarterly subscription option, not everyone likes to pay up front, and frankly that would make Masterclass a LOT more $$$ if Netflix only had 1 annual base plan they'd have a few million users at best, way more people will subscribe and remain on the app long term just for knowing they have the freedom of canceling anytime, it's reverse psychology there

The app is... okay. Would benefit from fine tuning the speed more ( in .10 of .05 increments). Would also like auto advance to next clip and a sleep timer when listening with the screen off.

No worthwhile classes that teach practical skills. Most classes, especially taught by celebrities, just tell you to follow your dreams. Only thing to be learned from masterclass is false advertising 101.

The Masters Class App is as good as the teacher's you'll find here: exceptional and real. So, as the saying goes "when the student is ready the teacher will appear"... Enjoy the experience. Cheers, Tony from Seattle

Unintuitive User Interface: this app has the most unintuitive, and hence confusing and least user friendly UI.

Great app for education Only complaint wish they had more about tech. They're ever evolving process is great with new content and materials. That come all the time. My complaint is still valid. They don't have anyone that comes into to teach about technology, and more advanced technology.

Great customer support. I purchased the yearly subscription but changed my mind after few days. I contacted the help center for support to get a refund: they replied within one hour and issues a refund. I'm not purchasing the service this time, but i was pleased with the overall experience
