Regarding comments about the app timing out, I have been experiencing the same recently. A possible solution follows. After doing it, I just went 45 minutes without interruption, just like the old days. Try the following: Settings > Apps > Voice > Battery > Unrestricted. Mine was set to Restricted, so I'm guessing that was causing the interruptions.

Absolutely what I need for playing non-DRM audiobooks; I typically buy them off Amazon and then use a tool to remove the restrictions so I can play them in any app, and this is exactly perfect for them. Also works well with Android Auto, though iirc that may require allowing unapproved Android Auto apps. It also handles folders of mp3 format audiobooks and the like plenty well.

I'm very glad I found this app. Has a lot of features for customizing playback like bookmarks, speed, volume boost, equalizer, sleep timer, skipping silences.... Very impressed with this app! Every once in a while when I pause it will stutter the playback in my car for a few seconds and then work. I don't think this is an app issue but an issue with the bluetooth in my vehicle. I don't see this issue with my bluetooth speakers / headphones. If you're looking for a simple to use audiobook manager for your audiobook files, this is the one! Thanks Paul!

Of all the updates you could make, what you chose was simply to make the play controls enormous? They were the perfect size before, but now they cover up the album art. I don't like this update at all. If you're going to have the controls that large, it needs to be in a Car Mode setting, not permanent. In fact, I disliked the change so much that I downgraded to 4.3.2. What this app needed was an ability to group books together, not having huge controls.

Switched to Voice after the other app I had been using for some time started crashing continuously. I'm sorry I didn't come across Voice earlier! It works extremely well, is a pleasure to use, and suits my purposes (listening to downloaded mp3 lectures) very well indeed. The only missing feature that I would really like is the ability to delete a file directly from the app once i had finished listening to the file. Hope you'll be adding this sometime soon!

This audiobook player app is nearly perfect! I wanted a simple, open-source audiobook app for my phone and this fits the bill. It detects your books, saves where you left off, and let's you set favorites. The audio boost and sleep timer are great options, too. I keep finding useful features, like being able to download covers from the internet and renaming titles. One thing it lacks is the ability to mark as unplayed, but that's a very minor thing. I highly recommend this app!

This is one of the best apps I have ever used. Speed control is very useful for fast readers and ESL students. Remembers where I stop and backs up a few seconds when I restart. Interface is simple and functional and accessible, with thumbnails so I can select the books with a quick glance. My vision impaired father can use this app without help! Picks up almost all the files I toss on my memory card with no messing around. One request: An option to access a list of titles I have listened to that were removed from the device. Even if this is just stored as a CSV file somewhere in my android folders, that would be great!

The interface is simple, and it’s fast too. I enjoy listening this app since it helps me organize my audio books apart from my music player. I’m glad it doesn’t use the media server too! I’m happy using this app. A feature I would be happy to see is the ability to load the individual art of each file instead of the whole book. (Even with preference or at cost of loading) Thank you for your efforts!

This is the best audiobook player i have used but it doesn't appear in my list of default apps, so I can't make it the default music player. Every time I use my Bluetooth control to turn it on, the default music player app starts a different book than the one i am listening to. I want to set Voice as default so it will start instead. The only workaround i have been able to come up with is to store audiobooks on my microsd card and deny the default music app acc ess to storage.

My one and only offline audiobook player. However. When applying a book cover from my file system, it would be nice if the app could, by default, look in the folder it's currently reading the audio files from, rather than send me off to navigate thru my phone's horrible gallery interface. Also, when selecting from the internet, the cropping tool could extend to the edges of the image. Anyway keep up the solid work!

I've just downloaded, tried a few of the others first. This gives you the ability to access your own audiobooks (wherever you obtained them from) plugging into your folders more intuitively than the other better rated players. It also includes decent variable playbook speed for free (no jumpiness or off sounding playback). Not sure why it's lower rated, so thought I'd give it a bump.

The best best best player for audiobook. I think the developer is genius. It only has the feature you really need for audiobook. Very simple but perfect. I'm more than happy and satisfied. The best touch is lock screen controller has seconds fast forward and rewind instead of skip. This makes life soooooo much easier. I was so impressed.

I generally like it. However, a few issues keep it from being a 5-star app. 1st, the new system for displaying audio files as current, completed, or not started yet is a hassle. A simple alphabetical listing would be more useful. 2nd, a few files (not all of them and not a predictable bunch) will move randomly forward after being paused rather than backing up a bit as they should. And, finally, sometimes when an ad plays on another app while a file is playing via Voice will make Voice stop.

It's great really. The app is astoundingly simple, yet so great. It always finds the books, puts them together if they are in split files, no annoying ads, nothing janky or broken, love the simplicity, the speed dial. My only problem is, is that if I stop the player with my headphones (like pressing pause) I cannot remove it from my notifications unless I play the book again, then stop it, then close it. But this minor issue doesn't ruin the 5 stars this free app definitely deserves.

Please bring back the equalizer! This was a great app for audio books but the last update got rid of the equalizer, and now books with too much bass are unlistenable, either too soft or too loud no matter how you set the volume. It used to be possible to set the sound quality for maximum listenability, and now it's maddeningly impossible. Gonna find another app, reluctantly, cuz I used to love this one...

Great app. Lots of easy to use features. Picks up the podcast or audiobook where you left off. Allows you to find covers online. Only issue I've noticed is: when I load in after a while and try to use the rewind buttons, it'll reset me to the beginning of the chapter. Scrubbing with the progress marker is an easy work around for that though. Do recommend.

SIMPLY THE BEST! I've been listening to audiobooks for ages, more and more lately, and that is why I have tried quite a few apps, including non-free as well as those that are highly praised among reddit users. The only feature I'm missing is the ability to delete a book from the file system from within the app. Otherwise, just as I said above, it's simply the best!

Half excellent half maddening. Excellent: ease of use and, especially, the ability to set the length of backward and forward skip, a feature I haven't found on any other playback app including VLC. Maddening: The app automatically assigns all audiobooks (podfics, actually) the same cover as the first one added, unless you choose a different cover, in which case all podfics then have *that* cover.
