MATRIC - PC control

Fantastic app to use as a macro pad. While the software is not quite as slick as something like Steam deck (you can't copy/paste buttons, or move then around easily by dragging on over the other) it's still very serviceable and there is more you can do with it. Being able to add dials is a great feature, meaning it's great for colour adjustments or changing brush sizes. I also love that you can size the buttons from very small to very big. Easy to set up and use between multiple systems. Use your phone (or grab a cheap 2nd one) and a stand, and you have a wireless, smaller, cheaper and slicker looking Steam deck XL with as many, or more, buttons.

A great remote controller. I got interested in this topic again after getting a Xencelabs Quick Keys and realizing that while it was good hardware, it could use more buttons and functoonality for more complex apps, and so I looked into Android macro keypads and got here. The functionality is good and diverse with plenty of button and switch types, skinning options, pagination and straightforward connectivity.

Very easy to start on PC and get running on Android tablet. Free version allows only 6 buttons on one page to show that it works. Android app resizes and rotates to fit screen, buzzes on touch which is good. PC program is only for creating a 'deck' or interface template, of which examples are available online through the program. The Android App is where most of the user options are found. The user guide is comprehensive but unintuitive. Obvious exceptions are instructions on how to upgrade, which are only visible on the Android app, not the PC program. Pricing structure is not clear, with three different prices for the same (?) unlock-all-features option. So far works on Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2 and RFactor2. I have enjoyed setting this up but am not sure if I would pay money for it until I have tried other free alternatives. Well made, if clunky, shows promise, needs better marketing.

I don't normally review apps, but this one has been excellent. I used it to build a touch interface for Elite: Dangerous and X-Wing: Alliance. The ease of use and ability to design custom images for the buttons make this waaaay better than any other program I've used. It even runs great on my crappy Nook HD+.

Digital artist and automation nut here. Given all the programs I have to use and the amount of repetition involved in some pipelines, I tend to do rather extensive scripts and macros where ever possible using VoiceBot, Keytext, Macro keyboards and mice. -------- Roccat's Power-Grid has also been a much used main tool I've used for years and for which I've been looking for a replacement lately. --------- After trying several apps, Matric stood out as the best solution and even worked right out of the box. ----------- PROs: 1 IT JUST WORKS! 2. Easy to use. 3. Flexible way to switch between pages compared to Powergrid. 4. Clean interface, everything is easy to use and understand. 5. Decent macro recorder. ----------- CONs: 1. Wish macros allowed for more flexibility, ideally just typing in the macro similar to Powergrid (p for press, t for typed text, numbers for milliseconds, u and d for Up and down press etc). Complex or well timed macros often require more adjusting than possible. 2. Adding to point 1 Wish TEXT could be part of a macro, rather than it having to be used in the Primary action with 'Send to Clipboard' and then pasted with CTRL+V as part of the macro in the Secondary action. 3. It's all very GRAY !! 4. As a visual artist, the included button designs look like 90s graphics, outdated... which is somewhat fine as I have my own sets, but make the app feel a bit like a toy and make a somewhat poor first impression. 5. No way to colorize/tint buttons (Background images) forcing you to create and import all the different colors you want (for which I need to create extra PS actions!. 6. Wish you could import a button background and then an icon that's displayed on top, rather than again, having to export all unique images with the background already on it. Makes it less flexible. ------------------ TL;DR -> Works great out of the box, quite flexible with decent macro capabilities compared to competitors. Would be even better if I could also Type, not just record macros. Included button templates are visually lacking falling behind the times and app limitations make creating your own colored buttons more work than it should be. --------------- Overall, a quite solid app!

Extremely handy to have, fun and simple to figure out, great features. Developers are very helpful. App seems relatively new so I have very high hopes for it to continue growing and adding more features, though it's already a few light years ahead the competition so.... Good job, very well done !! Please keep on improving on this amazing experience

This app needs a lot of work to be worth it. The desktop install crashed a few times and installed very slow. There is no setup guide to help you get it all connected. The online documentation is out dated and lacks a lot of info. If the devs out in the time this could be a great app but until then it's not worth it. I tried to connect this to 3 different PC's on 2 different networks for 3 days and now giving up.

I've been using Matric as a macro keyboard on an old tablet for the past 2 weeks. I have several keyboards set up for my most used PC apps. I love it . Easy to use and very useful. I have had no problems in designing the pages and all is running smoothly so far. A big thank you to the developer(s). I look forward to new features.

Perfect companion for my games requiring a lot of buttons or more specifically when I use a HOTAS, it sites on my tablet right between the throttle and stick like a little command center or cockpit. Being able to control the look and feel of the interface is awesome as well, really let's you immerse yourself into the theme of your game!

Great app. Many amazing features, and excellent customer service! My phone had a problem with the app and the staff in the discord channel kindly walked me through the issue and fixed it for me! Matric beats competitors like Remote Mouse and PC Remote easily. The security is much better from what I have seen. The interface is customizable all on my PC, I love it! Matric is the best geek app i could want for making my phone a third arm of my PC!

In love with this thing. Can't wait to see what else the devs come up with. Working flawlessly so far, and the fact I can use custom images for my buttons is just amazing. Would still love to see a slider that represents a scroll wheel. The thing you see on the right side of a trackpad.

Well the server outright doesn't work which means this app is completely useless. Windows reports an unhandled exception in the main thread so the server is certainly not production ready. Because of the above it's impossible to test the android app but on first glances it seems underwhelming. There is no feedback on the add server page so it's actually clear what is or isn't happening when you press a button, i.e. when entering a custom IP there is no indication it does anything with it - trying again shows a blank default IP indicating this feature isn't actually available. Seems like an awesome idea and great potential but it's got to actually work.

Review update: I have now updated to 5*. Matric is great. As all programs it takes a bit of getting used to, but well worth the perseverance. Had difficulty getting used to Discord but got there in the end and the help was excellent, thanks to 'Ex Machina obrt' for putting me on the right track. Matric is well worth giving the team lunch. The answer to my problem! MAKE SURE THAT GOOGLE PAY IS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I had to delete my pay details then enter them again. So a big thumbs up for Matric and the team. And do get the premium features and don't hold back GIVE THEM LUNCH. ---- Original Review:----- I think this app is really great. Easy to use. Easy to connect to OBS. Easy to connect to phone and tablet. One big problem, for me anyway, I can not get to pay for Premium features. I there a hidden secret? so for that reason I can only give 4 stars. I want to give more but without the Premium features I can not. Tried joining Discord but don't understand what is going on there. Tried emailing Matric but no reply. What a shame for such an excellent program. I have tried all similar apps and all have similar problems. Still I have found Matric is the easiest to use and looks the best. Once again not being able to get the Premium features is such a pain.

Unfortunately the interface loses connection with the PC that I want to control. I have designed an interface for Train Simulator and when the MATRIC works it is great. Please fix loss of connection error.

If you do have issues JOIN THE DISCORD SERVER and post in support. They try to help!! If you run into the WS Server error on the Windows PC app. Visit the discord. There is a work around. Port configuration should be an option when first running the client. As well as when installing the PC. Would avoid issues with hyper v.

Very good support. Started with free version for Xsplit. Only worked when Matric was selected window on PC. Support replied within minutes and suggested its due to running Xsplit as admin. Now run Matric as admin, fixed! Have bought the full app as it works very well for the Xsplit scene change hotkeys. Now using for 'ZMS Live Stream' on FB.

This app has so much potential! Super-flexible and a far more cost-effective option than purchasing dedicated hardware. The underlying tech works well, I'm worried that lack of documentation / marketing limits the growth potential of this app. For now, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Tried the free bits. Liked it, so paid to unlock everything. Worked well, built my custom deck, tests all did well, all features worked well in OBS. The next day I went to stream, the program on the PC side kept losing the connection to OBS. I'd get it to work for a bit and then I'd go to change scene & it wouldn't work. The mobile app & the pc app saw each other but pc app kept losing OBS. My viewers said screw it & bought me a real stream deck instead. LoL

It's like Roccat PowerGrid or Game Glass. But it's better because it works and you can easily make your own decks or source decks from the community. All the convenience of a button box but it's easy to customise and no soldering! I have tried nearly all button box apps and this was the only one that worked for me. Devs are very responsive on Discord and the community are helpful.

The matric app is extremely powerful as a virtual way to build shortcuts, links, and run applications. it's design makes it easy to setup and makes daily productivity easier. I would like to see more features for the designer.

Absolutely amazing software! Fun to figure out and opens up so many possibilities in all your games...I am going to have set ups for all my games soon. LOVE IT! Really really great program. Works great. Only thing I grabbed was the unlimited buttons and pages unlock but considering the app itself, it was more than worth it. Support is great and easy to talk to. Keep it up!

Very useful, versatile and easy to use. Could do with some more control on button response for different devices with differing sensitivity. But overall, pleased with it.

Better than I imagined. This is great for ANY PC game where you need more buttons or an easier interface than guessing keys on your keyboard. You want this app. It will make your gaming twice as smooth.

Once you get it up and working it's a great app. A little rough around the edges but overall I definitely recommend it even if you rock a Streamdeck from Elgato. Dev is also super friendly which is a plus!

Brilliant. So far I've created my own custom profiles for KSP, Elite, Arma, DCS... And there's a bunch of already made ones that you can use as is, or just as a template on the website. Even supports animated backgrounds for your control decks. Buy it. For the price of a pint you can unlock it's full functionality (free version is just a small demo of what it can do).

A small tip to the creators gives you great freedom with a deck you can use for literally anything on your desktop. I highly recommend for it's friendly interface which I learned after a couple minutes of looking around. Thankyou :)

By far the best of the bunch for pc controll apps. Setting up decks is a pain the the butt but if you can get it working it's great. I would love to see some better slider support for things like pc audio and discord integration but it is great.

Use it often, works amazingly well for what I need! Use it with OBS weekly streaming and for macro shortcuts in Visual Studio. Love it! Eventually I want to use it with some games, but haven't had any time to play anything in a while.

Works as advertised, use with Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous and soon DCS & IL2. Just scratching the surface discovering the capabilities, hoping to add axes use by Vjoy. Devs are really responsive, and it's great value for $.
