Easy and convenient way to Study the Holy Bible!

Originally written in 1706, Matthew Henry's six volume Complete Commentary provides an exhaustive look at every verse in the Bible.

Matthew Henry's well-known six-volume Exposition of the Old and New Testaments (1708–1710) or Complete Commentary, provides an exhaustive verse by verse study of the Bible. covering the whole of the Old Testament, and the Gospels and Acts in the New Testament. After the author's death, the work was finished (Romans through Revelation) by thirteen other nonconformist ministers, partly based upon notes taken by Henry's hearers, and edited by George Burder and John Hughes in 1811.

Matthew Henry's commentaries are primarily exegetical, dealing with the scripture text as presented, with his prime intention being explanation, for practical and devotional purposes. While not being a work of textual research, for which Henry recommended Matthew Poole's Synopsis Criticorum, Henry's Exposition gives the result of a critical account of the original as of his time, with practical application. It was considered sensible and stylish, a commentary for devotional purposes.

Famous evangelical Protestant preachers such as George Whitefield and Charles Spurgeon used and heartily commended the work, with Whitefield reading it through four times
- the last time on his knees. Spurgeon stated, "Every minister ought to read it entirely and carefully through once at least."

Henry's reputation rests upon his renowned commentary, An Exposition of the Old and New Testaments (1708-10, known also as Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible). He lived to complete it only as far as to the end of the Acts, but after his death other like-minded authors prepared the remainder from Henry's manuscripts. This work was long celebrated as the best English commentary for devotional purposes and the expanded edition was initially published in 1896. Instead of critical exposition, Henry focuses on practical suggestion, and his commentaries contains rich stores of truths.

Its great! Thumbs up to the author and editors. I have just 2 issues. 1. Even tho i select for the screen to stay on, the screen doesnt. Can be very distracting when you are so engrossed in the contents only to be faced with a black screen. Please fix that and 2. A few times i find where letters from one word is joint to another word or missing.. E.g. Commentary on mark 14:1-11 #2. 15th line. Reads "...all that stuck tot he sides..."

Good app. All the content seems to be there. A little hard to scroll through it as it could be divided up a little better. Perhaps the biggest Pitfall of this app is how you search up the different passages and explanations. There is no simple way of quickly locating a text, verse, or book of the Bible. This part of the app could be greatly improved! Having to go back to the beginning where all the Bible books are listed every time is very inconvenient.

Matthew Henry is probably one of the greatest Bible commentators. Having access to it at your fingertips through this app is great. It is easy to look up and use. The only thing I have noticed is that there seems to be quite a number of typing errors- omission of punctuation and words which alters the sense and meaning and also in some cases misspelling. Perhaps these could be fixed?

I loved this App. Have been using it for some years now. The update done on 7/23/2020 has brought issues of concern to continue using it. The selection to highlight has issues. I do not want to look for another App by a different Developer. No changes after uninstalling & reinstalling. Whole App Blank with no words, letters or anything. I am sick. Everything I gone!🤐🤐🤐😠😠😠😠

This is a wonderful app. Matthew Henrys commentary is an excellent resource to have. The punctuation and grammar are not always correct. However, you can work out where a missed full stop should be, for instance. That being said, I value this commentary so highly that I use it almost daily and the grammar issue does not pose a big problem. This app is well worth having.

This app was working well but now, nothing is displaying except ads. Each time I opened, I am welcomed by a blank screen except the ads. It's painful but I have to uninstall this after so long a year of using it

I'm honored to stop & give a review to let others & the developers of this app know how amazing this app is!! if I am angry & want to read Scripture about being forgiven for my anger & help me pray about it, it has a search that will lead u to look through the entire Bible or certain Books of the Bible. This app has definitely made a huge impact with me. It's access to getting to God's Word & His teachings thru an entire Bible & Commentary w/o ads interrupting for free & more!

Commentary is missing g a great deal of punctuation, leading to some confusion as to where one sentence ends and another begins. Otherwise it is a good app; it does its job simply and straightforwardly. Matthew Henry's commentary is beautifully thorough and edifying. God bless you for making it so readily accessible!

Good and useful apk. However pls consider the inclusion of returning to previous window after searching. When you search for a word, the search engine quickly runs through the 66 books of the bible to indicate in which books you will find it. After exiting in one book it won't take you to the previous search. Instead you have to search over all 66 books for the nxt reading. Back to PREVIOUS WINDOW will quicken references This is what I observed. Apart from this it is very useful

I have used Igor apps in the past, they are always top notch. This one is no exception. Yes, there are ads; but I, personally, did not find them intrusive. You get a 2 for 1 with this app; as you have the entire Bible, and the commentary by Matthew Henry. It is designed to be easily navigated. It's an excellent app. Well done Igor, and thank you!!

It's a great app.,but when you play it in audio mode;its really fast. It need a function where you can choose to slow down the speaker reading. Other than that; its great along with the commentary notes.

Good app overall. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star is the lack of editing. Periods and commas are omitted throughout, so sentences run on and on and you have to often guess for yourself where a sentence/thought/point ends. Hoping they'll fix!

It is wordy and a dictionary function where one can highlight the word in question to understand its use in the sentence and meaning would be awesome. I like the style. Appeals to intelligent thinking people. A good source to help one sort ones mind into better understanding.

I love it. Especially because it has Pastor Matthew Henry's commentary. It is very useful Edit: i took it down to one star because since i reconfigured my phone and had to reinstall it i can no longer open the app. It keeps telling me that there is not enough space but i have used the app with less space on my phone before. The space i have on my phone should be enough Edit: i dont know if its because i installed the other app that looks like this or i opened the app with my data but it opened

This is the third Bible that I have downloaded for the Matthew Henry commentary and it is the best one so far.it takes a little getting used to using it, but after a while it becomes second nature. Would highly recommend it. it also has a few different Bible plans that you can file a flu to read the Bible..

Wonderful app with Rich explanations of the events of Bible times. But the experience would be better if the menu could take one back to the chapter table rather than going back to the list of books. Every other thing is good ✔️

Have used the thick book volume for years now, and highly recommend it for in depth Bible study. Downloaded the online version so I can continue my reading on the move, only because it is inconvenient to carry the heavy book version around. Fantastic detailed understanding of the Bible.

Van. D. Mar 4, 2019

I really appreciate the information given, but the great lack of punctuation and capitalized words to start the next thought or sentence makes it very difficult to decipher. I often had to stop and re-read to mentally insert a pause or period to get the gist of what is being said.

Ral. G. Oct 23, 2019

The app is well designed and comprehensive. I often read the bible on my phone when in places where a bible in book form doesn't work well. Having a concordance in the same form is really great.

I think the ads are too intrusive and annoying. But this is still the best app currently in the market. I downloaded the app and then opted to pay for the stop ads version. Do not let the small cost of the app deter you from enjoying the bible and Matthew Henry!

A very good Bible I must say. It comes with commentary that could help you study God's word better. Though there ads, at least they don't interrupt your study. Overall, its a very good Bible application. We all use it in my home

Dav. W. Sep 23, 2021

The only reason this did not get 5 stars is because of missing punctuation throughout the text in some places. Sometimes very hard to read. I haven't seen the hard copy of Matthew Henry's commentary so it may be written like this, though. Otherwise great app and content.

Lau. W. Oct 25, 2021

The text really needs revision, as many sentences don't even contain periods where they should. I have read this commentary on other apps/websites, and this one is just full of typos. Almost makes it unusable for me.

Flo. C. Sep 15, 2021

This app has made it so much easier to do my studies. Matthew Henry was recommended by my pastor I just didn't know how much I would love it. It's not just that. I tried other commentary apps but they were not as easy to navigate. The links to scripture, Strongs links, and definitions have helped so much in my navigating the Bible. Highly recommended

Rac. K. Nov 25, 2021

One of the top Bible commentaries on the planet. Not just a man's point of view, but clearly divine interpretation has been given. Spiritual insight that only comes through prayer and fasting and a deep love for the Word and His truth. This commentary has been developed by a lifetime of devotion to study. Each verse offers in depth wisdom as well as secular history.

Pre. O. Aug 12, 2021

A very good app with rich insights and provides background and supporting scriptures for their views. They just need to improve on moving to next section instead of always going back to main dropdown menu

Ayo. K. Nov 14, 2020

I was introduced to the Matthew Henry's commentary on the whole Bible by my late father as far back as the late 80s. Then it was a very big volume that'll scare you at first contact. But then, I started checking out commentaries on portions of the Bible, and I kept moving on from portion to portion. Matthew Henry's interpretation of scriptures is from deep, detailed, to eye popping! I have been stuck with it ever since! When my father died, it was the very first book I took out of his shelf!

I love this app! Very informative, a great resource to use in studying the Bible as it was written. Provides valuable insights in scriptures that inspires me while I read and study. Illuminates the scriptures more so than I could ever imagine. Very helpful, plus references other scriptures to look up and confirm with. 2 thumbs up and 5 stars.
