Confused. I'm surprised and even flabbergasted that this app out of all movie apps, doesn't have the option to cast. This even makes it redundant. Not sure anyone would want to watch a movie on 6" phone screen (which mind you, can be interrupted by notifications and phone calls), when they have a 55" television to cast it on. I wish the half star option was available thru Google, because i would argue even giving it that.
I am able to watch Cinemax series and movies whenever and wherever. The Miracast ability is dependent on your device, but it is possible. That being said it could be better. The full screen view when casting to a television is framed with black bars on all sides. Other than that it is decent for what it is.
CAN'T CAST!!! PLEASE ADD THIS OPTION!!! Unbelievable!!! Update: Cinemax in now available through the Roku App on a Roku Ultra, but you can't use your subscription through your cable provider. You'll have to pay Roku $9.99 a month for this. This is the only way I can watch the many movies that Cinemax has available on demand (through my TV Screen) !!! Unbelievable!!!
They fixed the "upgrade to latest" long-standing bug clearly communicated by reviewers here. But they introduces a new design flaw: you can't view information about a show or movie, nor add it to your playlist, only watch it. When clicked it just starts playing, which is quite annoying.
Needs Improvement, would be nice if after watching a series episode the app cycled to the next episode in the series. Also a skip to next episode pop up would be nice when the credits start rolling like Netflix, etc have. When you finish an episode and tap the Related tab it doesnt even show the next episode in the sequence. A "Skip Intro" pop up would be nice too to allow the user to skip the opening credits. Add these features and I'll improve my rating.
I literally just downloaded the app..opened it and it said newer version available try again. Mfer I just got it on the play store so what you mean. Also I remember why I deleted this app. For one, no chromecast option and it's not even available on fire stick either. You want me to go buy an hdmi adapter in the hopes that your app works....tighten da F up Skinnamax!!!!
Need cast abilities plus app for Roku Box, I still have it only because I have Direct TV Now on my Roku Box and Phone, costs $5.00 a month each Cinemax and HBO, you can add them to your Roku by subscribing through Roku, still want stand alone MaxGo app for Roku. AT&T keep screwing with Channels I will be forced to try another Streaming Service and I wont subscribe to Cinemax or HBO any more. Get on it AT&T, also want better quality movies and shows or wont be worth keeping anyway.
Don't bother installing this app, it doesn't work. I installed the app and tried to open it. Then it says it's been updated and is not available on this format, to view it on a desktop. I'm uninstalling the app that doesn't work. If theres an update make sure it actually works before making it active.
Consider using HBO Max, assuming you have the subscriptions bundled. MAX GO no longer works for mobile devices, either in app or via web. App hasn't been updated since March (2020), making it a security threat. I've uninstalled completely and recommend others do the same. Only desktop streaming is available.
for over a year the app has not allowed me to sign in. i can't even chose my provider to sign in. I have reached out to your support multiple times and either I get that they have escalated my ticket and then nothing ever again. or i just get nothing. HBO go works, Starz works, even epix works. just this very bad app that just wastes space and shows you whats on cinemax that you can't watch doesn't work.
FINALLY!! After years of occasionally trying to get this app to work, NOW I know the secret! I had to call my cable provider to get the proper login information. I found out that the information I use to login to my cable provider's website was NOT what needs to be used to access this app. I got everything set up talking to my cable company, and now my phone and tablet are portable TVs! Wish I had found this out years ago! The thing that would make this a 5 star app is the ability to cast.
video quality is always extremely blurry and unwatchable. its definitely not my connection either, because every other streaming app, including hbo go, is totally clear. I don't know why they don't just fix it, I can't imagine it's that hard
I have the same problem, continuous loop of phantom update request. Since it's completely broken, I figured can't hurt to try and uninstall and reinstall. Now it's stuck installing... This app has been broken for far too long for a company of this size and prestige, what a shame.
Completely useless. I'm also getting the prompt to update even though I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a handful of times. If you are subbed through your TV provider, their app possibly has this content on demand (att u-verse does, not sure about others). Wish I could give no stars
On opening, the app displays "New version available" and "This version of the app is not supported for MAX GO". It says to upgrade to the newest version. I clicked Go to Store, and the store shows this is the latest version. I went to Google Play Store and it shows the app is installed with no option to upgrade. So the app is useless as many other reviewers have stated.
as long as I can't cast from my phone it's useless. without casting support I wouldn't even bother with a subscription except it was included with my HBO subscription. with nearly every comment complaining about the lack if casting I'm baffled as to why this app is lacking so far behind all the others. Now it says it won't be available for my phone after April 2020. Cinemax why do you insist on living in 2010? Keep up or get out
for about 5 months or so I have not been able to sign into the app. I have reached out to support multiple times it has been 3 months since I started contacting them and still the app won't allow me to sign in. The problem is occuring on multiple phones.
I want it on the big TV! Why no Chromecast support? Why no Roku or FireTV? My experience with AndroidTV was generally so poor its collecting dust. Now won't work at all says I need new version, play store says I have current version. Time to cancel Cinemax.
The app has issues it won't even let me sign in. I keep getting a message that it can not register my device at this time. I have a GS9+ so it is not the age of the device. This has been going on for well over a month or more. It could be the fact that the app has not been updated in over a year by the developers.
Should've made a version of this app for Roku ~ages ago. "The MAXGO mobile app is no longer available. You can still stream on your computer at the MAXGO website!" Yeah, but not everyone has or can use a computer for streaming. Rather rude to just cut off your mobile users like that. Just ~combine HBO & CINEMAX into *HBOMAX* like it's already been sounding like, instead of this weird insistence on having everything messily separated all over the place; organization & being streamlined is better!
Horrible app. Trying to find a movie and a big letter is right in the center of your site and it keeps jumping a bunch of letters. Can't scroll to see what movies are available. Dropping Cinemax on October 12th.
Stuck in portrait mode when navigating app. Just terrible when used on a tablet with attacked keyboard. Difficult to get around in the app tiny menu options nested right next to each other. NO CHROMECAST SUPPORT.
Used to be able to use this to watch Cinemax on my phone/tablet. I already pay for this service every month!! It looks like the only way I can view Cinemax is if I pay for it again on Hulu or Amazon. Why should I have to pay for this channel more than once!?!
Not bad but not worth it to ME to pay the extra because I have other apps that get the same content. It has good movies and original content so for someone who doesn't have the premium channels this would be a good way to start.
This app needs to be fixed immediately. Whatever latest update was installed for this app was not installed correctly. No one is able to access the app now thanks to an update for this app that is not functioning. Please fix this error immediately for this service that I pay for every month through my cable company Optimum.
App doesn't work. App states that a new version is available and click a link to update. The play store opens to the same app that is already downloaded and no option to update it. Very disappointed.
All these people that are complaining about no Chromecast capability, you more than likely have another device that can stream on your television like a fire stick or something of that nature so you can download the app onto that. And on top of that if you have a Samsung you can actually mirror your phone to the television so you don't even need Chromecast. Chromecast is so out of date.
I already have and am signed into the HBO Go app yet I have to register again for the Max Go app. Your apps, which are all under one company umbrella should be able to communicate with each other and my cable provider seemlessly to make this process easier.
it would be nice to see an update to make it more user friendly, but i really don't understand why everybody seems to have issues with it. i think they need to reset their settings back to factory. please add a Roku app for current subscribers please!!
Frustrating: dump the alphabetical "marker" toast notifications. Reconfigure the app so when selecting and viewing a movie description and returning to the list it doesn't reset to the top of the list. Annoying, frustrating and time consuming. Really makes for a poorly laid out and I co gruent browsi g experience. Offer a tiled layout, as well as the ability to browse in landscape mode.
