I absolutely love the ring but the app is a bit of a disaster. Awkward to use and keeps signing out when I want to authenticate. I can never figure out how to top up manually. Also the topup fails with weird errors sometimes. I keep Samsung Pay on standby just in case. McLEAR could take lessons from Samsung Pay, which has a simple, intuitive UI.
Good idea, bad execution. I'm here, right after payment was declined 3 times forcing me to pull my phone to make those payments. I've been here before,ring not working, thinking about engaging technical support, blah, blah, blah. So question is why should I continue to do this? And I can't answer to myself satisfactorily. Ring is a cool gadget, a conversation starter, but when it stops working it just becomes a pain, a pain I don't need in my life since I can just use my phone.
Having to re-enter my login details every single time you update the app is extremely irritating. No other e-banking app needs this, please sort this issue out
The app made setting up my ring easy, it's simple to use and allows me to keep an eye on my contactless ring balance. Being able to unlock it with my fingerprint saves me time accessing it from the home screen. I've not had any crashes or issues adding my ring or bank card, which is as simple as taking a photo of the bank card, no long typing. All in all the app just saves time from start to finish.
Had an email saying I needed to reset my password due to them changing software or something, tried to do it but the link wouldn't work and now the app won't work either. Every time I try to log on I get "Authentication failed" So now I have a ring that I can't use at all. I have the current app as suggested in a follow up email and I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still it won't work. SORT IT OUT MCLEAR!
The usability of app is terrible. Half of the screen is the useless image of ring and a toolbar what leaves space for only 2 transactions. I wonder who thought that users use this app to view a stock image instead of their transactions? There's no notification if a payment is declined. The app is useless without the ring so let me share few thoughts. The success rate on London Tube is very low, I often need my phone instead of ring. Ie entering Circle line at Victoria rarely works.
Works perfectly. Contactless connection on public transport is around 1 second slower than Oyster and card payments, but on the card terminals in shops, it's quick and seemless. Phone notifications are quick as well. A feature which could be useful is face recognition when opening the app.
Used to work great but seems to be an issue after getting an email about having to change my password/re authentication now ring and app arn't working. Edit: Tried all the fixes in review reply and didn't work. Now been waiting near a month for a fix. Email said they were escalating it to their tech team and then no reply. I have money on there that I can't access.
Using the ring for 11 months. One of the best things I ever bought in my life. Literally ring changing your lifestyle. App works perfect, no isues, no problems. You can top-up your ring in less than 20 seconds since you make decision to do it. App do what it should do. :) I can give McLear team 10 from 5 :). P.s. New update is really annoying. No way to skip help and information, no way to go further to use ring without registering at new cashback service.
It is good when it works, but unreliable. Frequent logins required, which it usually doesn't tell you about in advance so your transaction is declined, which then requires you to log in. It also resets the password/biometric login. At random. Support just says "it shouldn't do that".
Excellent hardware and software both work seamlessly together and become part of everyday life after a while of using it. The all new look app is brilliant and very user friendly with information being transferred easily to my smart watch coupled with the cash back and micro donation schemes makes using this ring not only convenient and fraud safe but also helpful towards others just from your normal day to day spending, that's a big win in my opinion ... well done and thank you Mclear 😊
This ring is pure genius, quite simply brilliant. I have used it for over a month now and not once has it let me down, flawless, quick payments every time without fail... The best bit about the ring for me, is its impossible to loose, I wear it as a wedding ring and it's a snug fit. Every single time I make a payment, the person says 'wow, did you do that with your ring'.! 😁
Right now I can't even activate my ring and I spent all this money just to see a picture of a ring. So many technical issues within App. Pending activation just depressing. Can't do nothing and there's no number for customer service. Emails communication takes too long to solve issues. Not happy, not impressed and not satisfied. At the moment I personally don't recommend this ring to anyone. Buying this ring is like buying a gumball ring. Looks like money down the drain.
The app looks very sleek and easy to use, now just time to wait for the ring! (will update when recieved) edit: The ring works like a charm! the app is very easy to use and easy to get around. 11/10!
We’d bought his & hers McLEAR rings as Christmas present for each other but were struggling to get mine set up on Christmas day, as there was no activation code. I email support team at McLEAR to explain the situation and ask for help, and I didn’t think I’d would hear anything till after the Christmas Bank Holiday period was over. However, I was wrong, Chris at the support team, emailed back the same day and explained I needed the activation code to set up the ring, which would have been sent with the completion email. As it turned out the completion email had been sent to my wife’s email account, which she had then deleted, so I emailed back to Chris and ask him to resend the completion email. An hour or so later, Chris let me know that he’s resent the completion email to my wife’s email account and I was then able set everything up. A few days later I had to contact the support team again as my wife had failed twice on the same day to make a contactless payment and Clare from the support team, email back and gave a list of reasons and things to try when making a payment, which proved to be very helpful, and helped resolve the issue. So, a big ‘thank you’ to the support team at McLEAR, not just for getting these rings up and running but also giving up their time on Christmas Day, thank you.
Something is amiss with this app. Been shopping, transaction listed on app, but balance hasn't changed since & unable to use it after that. Really hope this isn't a repeat of last years lock out.
I use android Samsung S21 and the whole app is frozen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled etc and even the login page is frozen cannot do absolutely anything on it. Therefore cannot top up my ring anymore!
The app crashes the moment you try to add a payment card or to top-up with funds. Since this is the only way to put money on the payment ring it renders the ring useless!
Simple to use both for topping up and spending. So far the only retailer I've not been able to use the ring with is McDonalds, whose contactless terminal just refuses to acknowledge the presence of the ring.
Just caught the app in my tasks accessing my camera. Not only have I not been using it in the past 3 days, but it has actively been shut down. There is no reason it should be accessing my camera at the moment.
Very good product works well wouldve giben it 5stars but its abit outrageous to pay a considerable amount for the ring and then plus you got to pay for transfer fee to load your ring with money hmm may have to stop using it would've lossed a Xtra 2 3 hundred for the year through transfer fees
love the ring had it 3 year bought it as i love modern tech and have used it daily for three year was even giving a free upgrade and a new size due to arthritis . what mors can i say will definitely get a nes one when this expires.
I have used this app along with the ring and find it amazing I get people looking at me in confusion to how I paid its brilliant worth every penny.
Had a terrible starting experience with running into a bug during registration that made me unable to use my new ring, but Support resolved that within two days. Since that everything has been wonderful. The app has been super good, feature-rich and smartly made and the ring itself is such a good product and works easily. Very happy with it.
