I love this app. There's some work getting it set up on the front end--adding in your recipes, setting up the shopping aisles to ensure a shopping list in the exact order of your progress through the store (if you care about that). But I've been using PlanToEat for years and I love it!
Been using it for a year, excellent application and fairly thoughtfully laid out. The app can be made a little better, specifically adding an item to the calendar doesn't work the same way as desktop which is more intuitive.
A great tool for meal planning. What used to take me hours for a two week meal plan now takes me only minutes. You can add recipes just with a link. I am finally trying new recipes all the time because this app makes it so easy for me! Really one of the best apps I have ever used. Discovered via The Homeschool Sisters Podcast.
Great app for meal planning and shopping. I use the shopping list more than the meal planning at present but its a great way to form good shopping habits with the digital list between me and hubby. And I never leave the shopping list at home as its on my phone.
I have used this for a year now and am using it daily now that I can easily upload recipes from websites or Pinterest and print the weekly menu (from the website) for the household to see. I use the note field for side dishes I know the recipe to and to remind me to defrost or pick up an item for the next day.
I didn't really think I would like this to start with. But I loved it now. Turns out you can set up your meals so that you fix one meal, eat it, and schedule the left overs for the freezer. You can even set up having a meal one day and leftovers 2 days later. It's also very easy to reschedule meals when life gets in the way. I'm very pleased with this app
The app seems nice and has a lot of good things, but it adds all ingredients to your shopping list, which is very annoying. Very often you have most of the ingredients at home already. It would be nice to choose which ingredients you put on the shopping list and not automatically everything.
I use this to plan our family meals each week. I love it still after over a year of consistent use!
Just a beginner with this app. So far it has lived up to expectations. The ability to share PTE recipes with other family users is great. However I do not use the app for inputting and editing recipes as the Web interface is much easier too use for this
This app makes meal planning so easy. I enjoy the ease of clipping new recipes from websites. My favorite feature is the shopping list. It makes shopping in my pantry and the grocery so easy!
This app is amazing! I love the shopping list part it is such a life saver as we do a month's worth of shopping at a time. Being able to share recipes with your friends is great as well. I have all of my recipes at my fingertips.
This is the app I've been looking for. Seriously makes planning dinners so simple. Adding recipes from anywhere is simple and so far (it's been a fer months) 100% glitch free. Cooking view is my BFF. There is not one thing I've wished for that this app doesn't do... at least in regards to meal planning. Love love love it! UPDATE: 12/31/2021 STILL LOVING THIS APP
It's been so handy to have all my recipes in one place. It's made meal planning for the week so much easier and it's easy to add recipes from other websites.
I have searched for an app like this for YEARS... finally, someone got it right! This app organizes the whole process in such a smart way... collecting recipes, letting you organize them, and then building a shopping list, so that I never have to make that second trip for the-one-thing-I-couldn't-remember! And, like I said, it's so smart about it... the planner is incredibly flexible (in case you change your mind and meet friends for dinner instead), and when I moved a recipe to the next week, the shopping list REMEMBERED that I already have the ingredients. WOW! And, there are so many other smart features just like that (e.g., the freezer, the queue, and other features!). So.... why only 4 stars? Because, there's ONE thing missing. Yes, you can manually enter those age-old recipes handed down for generations. But, who has time for that?! The missing 5-star feature is the ability to snap photos and use text recognition tech to help import the recipe. Yes, it won't be perfect, but it sure would help! Until then, maybe let us attach more than one photo to a recipe. For example, the front AND back of a recipe card? But, I really love this app, and I highly recommend it!
Exceptional - the BEST shopping list app. All meal planning and shopping list apps I've ever used have only offered the best features for a certain category. For example, some have a great list but limited meal planning. Some give recipes and meal planners but the shopping list is hard to use. This app DOES IT ALL and is always being updated with better features. At this point I can't live without it. The cost is absolutely worth it for a year of less stressing. I've moved all my recipes here.
I hated planning meals and making grocery lists and getting to the store and finding I left the list at home! This app makes it so easy to plan your week's meals and create a shopping list. Having the list with me all the time (on my phone) means I can pick up things last minute when I'm out, or quickly add something to the list as I see the need throughout the day. I love this tool!!! Paired with the website, the annual fee is worth every penny.
I've been using plan to eat on my computer for years. My favorite thing about the new app is the shopping list. I still prefer to meal plan on the website, as it has so much more functionality. But the app is nice for when I'm out. Updat 10/31 They added access to the queue to the app, which is great! Once they add access to menus, it will function almost as well as the online version.
PlanToEat subscribers can use this app to access our meal planning accounts. The interface is optimized for phones; it is not the same as the web interface. It is very easy to use: sort through recipes, add them to your calendar, adjust servings, check your grocery list at home, and shop. It's easier to use menus and freezer functions on the website, but I'm still impressed with the app design.
Best menu planning system I've ever tried, hands down. It's ridiculously easy to add new recipes, and then just as easy to drag and drop them into the calendar. Changes are easy, adding notes is easy, and then you can see the week on month at a glance. Shopping list is the icing on the cake, auto generated and even if you are a lazy sot like me and don't use the pantry list, it is still easier to navigate that any other grocery list app. Absolutely worth the money.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this app! Saving recipes is super easy. You just need to hit "share" on the web page and share to the app. Being able to plan out meals is a breeze and what used to be a daunting task, is now super convenient. I can easily plan meals for 2 weeks within minutes. The grocery list feature makes the process of going to the store quick and accurate. No more "aw crud... I forgot the (item) for tonight's dinner!". It's all there and planned for you. Best app on my phone, easily.
I love the online version and have used it for years, but this app has some glitches. I use it on my Android and it seems to slow everything down and force close other apps that I have running in the background. Also, everything loads super slow and if it closes on its own and I try to reopen, I have to navigate all the way through to get where I was before. It won't turn to a side view like my other apps either. Hoping the app just doesn't like my phone because I was really looking forward to it.
Excellent. Recipe importer is top notch. Can edit pretty much everything. I do, however, have a wish list: - Automatically pull in nutrition data based on the ingredients and quantity per serving. (It's freely available.) Not just the big stuff either, but the obscure as well. - Let us add prices based on the grocery store so we know what we're spending (also, a spot for sales tax per jurisdiction) so we have a budget option Subscription based, which I hate, but I'll take the plunge for now.
The app needs work! I must be able to print from my phone and the suggestion I got (open a browser on your phone and look for the teensy print icon) just doesn't cut it. I need to be able to print from my phone. All my other apps are printer enabled. I hope to see this issue addressed before I renew. I like the way it lets me aggregate all my recipes but the app needs to permit printing a shopping list or it's really not delivering. I cannot guarantee that I am in any retail establishment with a fully charged phone and my grocery stores do not have wireless so the phone discharges pretty quickly/uses up expensive data. Thanks for your response, looking forward to being able to print. I have no home PC so it is an essential feature and one that I will review before renewing.
I've had several recipe apps, but this one is my favorite by far! It is really easy to use, great for planning out what you're going to eat and makes creating a shopping list for those recipes a breeze. Sometimes I get in a hurry and forget to select the Cuisine, Main Ingredient, Tags, etc. It would be great if there was a feature to "reclassify" selected recipes in bulk and add those drop down list options instead of having to do it one at a time.
