The app requires that I allow access to photos and videos, and to the camera. I have no intention of taking pictures with this app, or submitting either videos or pictures. I will have to return the actual device because it requires this app to function as a thermometer. Too bad, it was a neat idea. I'd rate it lower than 1 if possible. In this day and time developers/designers should know better than to make this type of access a requirement.
Do not buy this product. There are better options for the money. This was purchased as a gift, and there is zero support for older devices; older Android versions can't even activate or open the app to even pair the thermometer. It disconnects wifi and then shuts down without pairing anything. Further, as can be seen in other reviews, customer service and troubleshooting is limited at best. The listed Gmail account is inactive and they only respond to emails from the French account.
Useless probes. When the grill lid is closed, the range of the Bluetooth is 6 feet. Can't even get inside without losing connection. And can't use the WiFi extension without creating an account so they can sell my data, besides my phone would have to stay on the grill for THAT to even work. Don't waste your money.
Set up the account and linked to the thermometer probe. Straight Out of the Box two of them do not charge and instantly die after disconnecting. Bluetooth range is only inches from the phone. I'm not a happy camper having two of them! I've even charge them overnight.
The first time I used it, it took me an hour to get it to work. Now months later, I tried it after uninstalling "old" app and installing "new" app, which the "old" app told me to do. I can't get anything to work. Wasted money. I'm shocked that Sharper Image even advertises this product. I'm not even going to try to get my money back. I have never had a problem with SI before and this won't stop me from buying from them but this particular product is AWFUL!
Got as a gift, no signal to connect to bluetooth, can not connect to wifi. No indication light on the unit to alert you on bluetooth pairing. I love the concept and the idea however I think they sell a peice if metal with a plastic topper. And a charging station that has a forever red light with so called thermometer is on it.
So far, it's not going well. Doesn't matter how we try and connect the device, charge, activate, uninstall, reinstall, turn Bluetooth off and back on again, we can't make the thermometer connect to the phone. If it doesn't work in the next day we will return for a refund. Very disappointing
The probe was found only the first time and never again. I want to lean back and enjoy my bbq not to be busy with the thermometer most of time. Actually it is very funny if you read update history where they say "minor bugs fixed".... The whole thing is a big bug and goes back to the store....
NO SUPPORT FOR ISSUES. THE EMAIL BELOW DOES NOT WORK. junk. been trying for an hour to get the bluetooth activated and it won't. go in ng back to my trusty wired one and sending this one back. after a month still doesn't work. can't get support help either. the reply from them below does nothing. I tried emailing them and it comes back as invalid
It looses connection a lot. When it doesn't connect within 5 minutes, it will not reconnect at all. Gives no suggestions on temp or remaining time. App could be a lot more useful.
App won't open. I uninstalled and reinstalled still nothing. Every time I open the app it shuts off my wifi connection and it closes and says it stopped working.
Too difficult to work with, must remember to charge probe before, bluetooth comes & goes (ATT) thus must reset, 2nd time using does not even connect to app, app no longer available on other devices
Poor, will not connect with my Android thru bluetooth. Repeated the process. Not recommended at all. Will try for a refund through Sharper Image
Horrible! Will not connect to Android phone or iPad 😒! Total waste of money plus shipping! 😒 Will be returning ASAP! Email they give does not work! HORRIBLE!
Cannot get our brand new probe to connect. Very expensive piece of equipment for a faulty device.
I would love to use your thermometer but the app does not work and I have sent you emails requesting help and no one responds.
Never could get it to connect via Bluetooth to my phone. Emailed the company and no reply yet after 2 days.
This app is épouvantable! I can't even get past the "Android app notification" page...spent big bucks at Williams Sonoma for a typical French fiddle factor product.
Doesn't work, ap is horrible and their support and stand behind product is bad. They won't call me back or send me new thermometer.
Great concept but terrible product... Charged battery fully and died hour into cooking.
Won't let me download app. Thinking about sending the whole thing back. Very dissatisfied at this point

Since I bought the product, I have never been connected to the phone, I wrote him an email to help me and they never answered me.

Cannot connect after following directions. This joke of an 89.00 thermometer is being returned to sharper image.
This device and the app are absolute garbage! Do not use it! Here's a list of all the issues. 1) The app has major issues connecting to the device itself. 2) The range on the probe to the wireless base is next to nothing. And wont even read when the lid of my smoker is closed. 3) The probe itself wont hold a charge long enough to even start cooking let alone a 8 -12hr smoke. Don't wait your time or money on this.
