This was better for me in the previous version. I hate the "updated" display. App used to have a black background. Now it's stark white with ugly blue trim ... lights up my otherwise dark room for viewing. Bad theatre. Bought pro version. Have not used since "upgrade." BRING BACK THE BLACK.
Not to happy. Since the latest update on our android tv units the app keeps crashing and as a result I now seem to need to restart the media servers twice a day to reset the cache. We are lucky to get 30 minutes of content before the app crashes and the android TV needs to be reset
Just noticed this was updated. Works great. I use it with VLC to stream live cable channels from my HDHomerun Prime cablecard on my local network.
Able to view media from our pvr but not download it. Worked on the free version with 2 free downloads but not on the pro one we paid for!
Even if you kill me now, but I liked the old user interface better. It had everything right on the screen and I did not have to go through a pull down menu (especially important for the movie folder. Any chance to make this selectable as the default folder on start-up maybe?). Next problem: if one wants to get a movie info on a movie whose title only consists of a number (e.g. "2012"), it throws an error. Next Bug: If you stop playback of a soundfile but keep the app open in the background, playback automatically resumes once another app (e.g. email) plays a notification sound.
The best android upnp/dlna controller app. i can control media from dlna server on pc to xbox one or 4k panasonic and live tv from panasonic tuner to android phone
Plays music from computer to amp. Best app of its kind for this. I've tried several others. This is the best
Terrible update, I was using this app for movies mainly and now no more. Good thing I found an alternative called dlna movie play, that's a nice app I am using now for my movie library
Always reliable, some of the best money I've spent on an app! The new interface looks great.
Whilst it is lovely to know the app is finally getting updates, the recent facelift is just ugly. If it's not going to look like a modern Nougat app, please bring back the old interface.
Terrible white interface. At night time eyes are burned... Why you removed 'favorites' from 'start screen'?!
App does what i need which is play my videos and download them to my tablet from my network hard drive. But it wont play audio on some of my movies.
Could at least cast to Chromecast
Okay for streaming movies but does not 'see' my Chromecast Audio. Ironically, it can stream to a Sony WiFi speaker which is Google Cast.
One of the better dlna streamers on Google play, however there is no way to have it play back all videos in a single folder on the server in alphanumeric order. Instead it simply repeats the same video over and over. I am reducing my rating to 3 stars due to the length of time I have been using this app with no fix to that particular issue.
I originally started with the free version of this app. However, while paused in the pro version it still shows ads. Considering this is not only a $4 app but the fact that I paid for it to support the developer it's completely ridiculous that they force ads on their pro users. Do not buy this app. There are plenty of other options that don't try to double dip. And even then, the free version shows ads regardless so you get nothing out of buying it.
I find no way to make the app automatically play the next VTS/DVD file, it goes back to the list of files. I have tried with different video players and they all behave the same way. I have also tried with network players who do automatically change to the next file. So, it must be Mediahouse who must either be configured correctly or simply cant handle it. I'm doing this from a number of different android devices and use a TwonkyMedia server in my local network.
I dont know whether its my sgs2 or the app, but all my painstaking work sorting movies was a waste, they are all now randomized. Have to navigate to movies, and meta info has gone mostly. It definatley isn't sgs2 as my nexus7 has done exactly the same thing ie. wrong movies in folders. Other than that, excellent.
This is an early review as It was only downloaded today, I have it running on an android tv box. I have all my films and tv series's on a nas, the streaming seems to work fine and dandy and getting the 'Movie Info' for films has not been a problem. Unfortunately trying to get the 'Info' for tv series's is a bit touch and go. All i really want to do is add the program artwork to the folder, im not bothered about the actual info and searching google i cannot find a way to add custom artwork for the folder so i have a few folders that are just blue folders. The only reason I paid for this over using the free version (and other apps) was the possibility to have the artwork.
Could keep server connection active, so when movie ends you can choose another. I have to restart my server process each time. Easy work around, but annoying for the gf. Still 5 stars for design and flow. Hopefully further development. Trailers are not needed.
Could use a little polish. Hitting back does different actions, needs a music, photo, tv show instead of just movies and favorites. When playing music, and i stop it, i cant remove the song from q without jumping through hoops. Otherwise good app, not too expensive so was worth the purchase.
The interface is good and simple to use, though the play "to" should be on top because as soon as you tap on the play "from" it takes you off the device selection screen. Also no support for serving up local files. Even open source offerings like DroidUPnP have that.
4 Stars I have had this installed on several android devices and using for months now. It finds my media which is on a hard drive attached to my ASUS router via USB very fast. Movies play over wifi pretty well, but credit that to the router and hard drive I think. It finds movie posters fairly well, but you need exact spelling of the movie name in the file. You can change the title in the app and search manually though. Music: It is not too bad, big issue is playlists. Creating playlists should be a lot easier. Press and hold on a song and there SHOULD be a menu item to 'add to playlist' and pick a playlist to add too.
I use to stream from NAS DLNA to local android devices and its works well building good metadata for your media collection. Was a 4 or 5 star app but it no needs to add cromecast support for play to devices. As the app does not play anything its self and its core function is to route media from a source to a player device its now just frankly behind the curve and redundant. Hope to see it added soon and rating will once again rise.
For some reason the app has stopped letting me download files to my tablet. When I tap and hold the file I still get the option to download and the status bar flashes up for 1 second then goes again. I have checked the storage on my device and have plenty of space
Love this app. Best one found for my movie library. The details pulled automatically for my movies is great. Looks better and gives more movie info than Netflix so that says allot. I even use this app to browse what I want to watch and easily pop it up on my smart tv. Quick and easy. Only thing missing is the trailers feature. The tab is there and It's been coming soon for a long time and wondering if it ever will. Rate 5 once I see the feature that we are told is coming soon.
i use this to control a NAS Twonky server + Windows Media Player combi...works great. Am just missing something though..while a music is playing aready, I exit the app. Later, opened the app again...is there a way to get me to the NOW PLAYING screen with the actual music playing synced to the what's displayed by the app in my mobile device?
Great DLNA player! Too bad it is only a player though (does not cast phone media to other devices). A bit expensive for such a limited app, but it does very well what it is supposed to do.
