Meetup

The whole app is a mess. Some elements are on the website and are missing from the app and vice versa. You can receive a notification from Meetup on your phone that you can only read on the website for instance and so on. The overall UX/UI is really poorly put together.

Edit: I quickly got an email from the developers and my issue was resolved within hours. Thanks!! The app logged me out (I stayed signed in on my phone) and won't let me back in! I know my email address and password are correct because I'm able to sign in from my browser. I just updated the app and it still won't let me. The screen just blinks when I press submit. Fix this!! Normally I would rate this 5 stars.

I have this app installed on my Google pixel and iphone. For some reason, half the time it doesn't allow me to send a message on my android phone. iPhone works fine. I've had members reach out to tell me they can't change their RSVP to "not going", so I've had to manually do it. When i post multiple events on the same day, the first one is announced and the others aren't, despite pressing the "announce" button. Everything about Meetup is glitchy. Great concept, but terrible execution.

The app is soooo buggy right now. Tried to sign up for an event -- for a group I'm already a member of -- and I had to sign up for the group again. Same thing when I tried to change my status to not going for another event. Also, I changed my profile pic 2 weeks ago but the old one appears after I sign up for new events. Also, it is so slow now that I've stopped checking all the new event notices. FIX THESE THINGS PLEASE!!!

I have been using this app for more than 10yrs. I like this app for the new friends and connections I make at the meetups. But the app itself has lots of flaws. One big issue is the inability to look up a group by name, even when I know the exact spelling of the group I'm looking for - the search function still can't find the group 🤨. Very limited functions and quite pricey to start a group.

I have used this app for 4 years and it's useful. But, while it works, it's glitchy as all get out. I get notifications for one group but not another despite settings all turned on, sharing/uploading photos for past events is absolutely painful on mobile, and more often than not the send button for PM's does not activate so I have to copy/paste and try again. I wish there were some updates to help fix these issues.

Event creation is a pain and French translation is bad. The title, number of person, date and time fields reset themselves to default values whenever you switch to another app to check something. Same when you upload the picture for the event which comes at the end. So I had to re-enter 3 times these fields, otherwise my event would have been created at the wrong date and time! Also, dates (month and day) appear in the wrong order on the French translation, even though it's very basic knowledge

Updated: finally was able to log in on desktop and find a technical help contact. They responded SO QUICKLY! I appreciate the technical support and updated my review from 1 to 3 stars. 3 because the app is clunky to find groups and doesn't always submit your questions. Website is way better. Need technical help! Out of nowhere I was logged out and get internal error messages when I try to log in. I reset password and it says invalid. I can't access my groups and am very sad to miss events.

I wish there was a way to mute notifications from individual events. people in larger meetup groups have a tendency to add a comment to the event stating they can or can't come (that's the point of updating your RSVP), so my phone is always dinging. Then there are some groups that create events for cruises or trips that send reminder notifications every day for the duration of that trip. The only way to turn off those notifications is to turn off all notifications, but I don't want to do that.

Have scale down my review to the lower value. I didn't find any improvements like even after mentioned in my previous review. - Android version synchronisation - Photos sync is not getting reflected from Desktop version. - No user-friendly page after closing a group. When we close a meet-up group, it should display as "This meet-up group has been closed".

IMO a mobile app should not be crippleware relative to a browser portal to the same site. My mobile device already has a browser. Why should I use some of my device's limited storage to add an app that does *less* than what I can do in the browser? Meetup app does not give access to full member profiles. Responding to emails requesting event feedback ratings opens the app,*which then opens the browser*, because you can't give feedback ratings within the app. Just two of many examples...

I have problems with spam emails that I cannot unsubcribe. I tried to turn off all email notifications on all of my group except one that send notes from the meeting. It worked in the past but not anymore. Now I receive event reminders from every single one of my groups every day. It's terrible.

Trouble in paradise!! Unable to log in through any of the provided options. Was able to do it online, but clicking on a group shows a page saying it doesn't exist! WTH?? If you're doing maintenance just show a page that says so.

Good app overall, my only complaint is I keep getting New Event Notifications on my phone and tablet even though I turned them off for most of the groups in the App notifications settings (this has to be done individually for each group but doesn't seem to be working for me anyway).

If you're in a rural area, or even a smaller state, chances are you won't find anything too great or that meets your schedule. In that case, I suggest finding the nearest paid event on different websites. I found a new hobby this way, and met with great people. The app is great for finding free meetups though, but it does have limits.

Great app for finding things to do, but the search feature doesn't allow me to search only my own city. I type in my own city, but the results also show me what's happening in neighbouring cities so its hard to find local things. It's frustrating, please fix this.

App been good up until now. Now I can't log in to my account using app. Can on desktop though. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but app still not letting me log in. Even tried changing password and when entering new password I still can't log in. ...Sort it out please !

Update 4/2022:. The add to calendar function was fixed. Honestly, the user experience bon android is not that good. Can you redesign this app with a focus on Android users and not just tweek an apple app for use on Android? 11/2021: The add to calendar function is no longer working. When you open the app using the link, the option for the home is not present. When you hit the back button, the app just closes... Please fix these issues.

Am trying to send a message to my friend on the app but they keep telling me user unable to recieve message. I tried it for different bunch of people I guess the "message" future is no longer working.

Pls send feedback to your dev team. Android 11 Moto g(8) power. I'm in BST (UK) * Can't create event starting in 30min - eg pop-up co-writing * Time zone issues, eg seeing PT or GMT time - incl in event creation * Doesn't always show week day, only date * Often events don't show at all, or not chronologically. So can't see all that's going on RIGHT NOW. As I use the app for online co-working, it makes the app useless * When saving to calendar, it saves the link to meetup, not eg Zoom link. Huh?

Increasingly broken. The messaging doesn't work, it jams, and I sometimes get buggy messages appearing that are not meant for the users. If this is what is happening on the surface, I'd imagine that the security aspect of meetup is worse.

For some days now I get tons of email notifications from groups where these have been disabled since years. You can't contact technical support. Why I even writing that. They've given up taking an interest a decade ago.

Has led to some fun interactions with others. Major issues include when you change your profile photo, it doesn't update your picture within a group. When I post, it is still the original photo I chose years ago instead of any that I tried to upload recently. 2 separate message text points when going to message people. Needs tweaking, good promise.
