Ok. So after a few more months of use, I have come to a final conclusion. The app still crashes when utilizing the meme factory. Uploading GIFs and video memes is a nightmare as it takes forever to upload them, and even then, half the time it doesn't work. Not only that, there seem to be invisible ads that I am somehow clicking on and it's getting annoying now. At random times during normal app usage, the app store will randomly open up on my phone and show aps like I've clicked an ad. Really!?!
ADs self open! Something changed, you don't even have to click on an ad it just opens automatically at random times. I think the developers are trying to be sneaky here. I need more evidence. Google should be investigating.
I get banned ONCE and I can never log in again? It seems "Temporally [sic] banned" has turned into permanently, even when I can log in just fine on browser. Not to mention now there's extremely annoying pop up ads that appear at random. This reduces the app to nothing more than a husk of its former self. There's nothing more to do here if this is how the app is run.
Good app. A solid stream of moderate content. The ads have gotten horrible. Get pro or don't bother. !!!UPDATE: Just got an update where ads (with sound) take over the app and are unskippable. Quality of content has decreased.
This app starts working in the background when you use The camera... I'm wonder why? Is it copying my pictures? Seems like a crooked app.. Wonder where to report this. Edit; BS I could heard the video music running and that's how I figured it out.
waaaaaay better than 9gag, which is now filled with normies; insta and facebook users. Want to notify someone that the app keeps crashing. It's almost not worth opening now. Samsung S9 plus
Long time user but sad to say I may have to delete. App causes the play store to open repeatedly to sketchy apps without even clicking on anything. Don't trust it. *sigh*
I've had this app for 10 years. Now there are intrusive ads. Will change rating when this goes away. Otherwise it's time to move on. Thanks for the memories memedroid.
MemeDroid now has the audacity to take you to the app store without you pressing anything. Even the most bottom barrel apps give you an x to press and miss. MemeDroid however, doesn't matter if you don't have a hand on your phone, you're going directly there. Done with this app.
Great app, but one of the most recent updates added unskippable, unmutable ads, and I can't stand them. I just force close the app and now waste significantly less time looking at memes
Ads open randomly without clicking anything. Makes the app unusable.
Edit: in response to devs: you know exactly what you're doing... --------------------- App basically tricks you into installing other, sketchy apps. The way they do this: the "next meme" button is on the bottom right... You keep hitting it to scroll through and then suddenly an app pops up and basically replaces that button (moves it up) so you click on the ad... And the new ads automatically install apps on your phone without requiring permission.
Tell your Facebook trackers to get lost. Once every 30 seconds a ping is sent out by memedroid that collects your GPS coordinates, biologic data, device data, device stored data, and a list of other things.
Was really great until they started randomly playing non skippable ads. I Uninstalled it for that reason only. Annoying.
Used to be cool, now they just edit & censor everything. Lame Content. Worse than iFunny.
Keeps crashing as soon as I try opening the app since the past 2-3 days. Don't know why.
Used to enjoy the app, but it's flooded with racism and white supremacists posting thier racist memes and trolling everyone who complains. And to make things worse, the ads kept getting worse and worse and now the app. Is unusable from all the intrusive ads.
Good app since childhood. Not anymore. I'm a long time user of the app (2012), and always loved it. Great memes, solid community, & even information relevant and detailed enough to be news substitutes. Now it's just unapologetic, and unironic racism, sexism, homophobic, transphobic, and political nonsense. I'm all for making fun of everyone, but this place has gone much too far for just "silly memes lol". Devs don't care, and it's sad. Thanks for the memes. Wish you guys the best, I guess.
Memes are good, but uploading is a nightmare. It doesn't work 90% of the time, especially when you crop something...
One of my most used apps, one of the only ones that puts a smile on my face (most of the time). The ads arnt too bad, all except the ones that plays music and is animated. Whoever allowed those to pop up and dissables my music or youtube running on the background has a special place in hell for them 🙂🖕
The app itself is alright, most ads aren't too intrusive albeit not great (they consist of a bar at the bottom, pop-ups, and images in place of memes). Unfortunately, the community is often terrible. Good luck going more than 3-4 memes without there being a political one. It feels like being in a high school politics class.
Invasive ads that pop browser windows up and SOUND ADS. That's a paddling. Update 7/2020: believe it or not, the ads actually got WORSE. Now when you browse memedroid, you get free ads that DISABLE the bottom menu on Android that lets you go back or exit the app. So you're FORCED to watch the ad, WITH SOUND, until you hard reset your phone. That's the last straw for me.
I've had Memedroid for years now and loved it. Good content, easy to use, enjoyable. Now ads are taking over. I feel like every third swipe is an ad. Eventually it will be all ads and no memes at this rate. Super annoying to a long time user like me.
Updated review 05/21/2021- Novagecko has since been in close communication with me, they have been extremely helpful and they have rectified my problem! Thankyou so much! ❤️ ---------------- I have owned Pro for since it was available. Over multiple devices both android and apple. As of late I'm finding hardly anything in the gallery is loading, my profiles not loading. It just seems the app is just struggling to load itself. Such a shame as this has always been one of my favourite apps.
I have been a long-time user of this app, and while it has recently been through some dubious advertisement debauchery, I must say that the dev team has been open to the criticism. The incredibly intrusive ads have been stopped, and the amount of care that is obvious within the community is hard to ignore. I have changed my rating, and heartily applaud the dev team for taking the steps they had to to ensure that this app remains as a haven for its user, as opposed to a funnel for ad revenue. <3u
I've used the app for a long time and normally dont have an issue but the last week or so it's been randomly playing invisible ads even when i leave the app, the sound keeps playing and the only way to end the ads is to force close the entire app. Will change to 4 stars when that is fixed.
