Memorion Flashcard Learning

Wow! I'd say it's the best memorization app. But it would be good to include the ability to add cards in the Beginner Mode, because thats what probably many people are interested in, but switiching directly to the advanced mode could be too overwhelming. Please please keep this app running, as there is no other app this good.

Brilliant app! The best flashcard app I have used (better than Anki). This is now my go-to flashcard app. It makes learning language vocabulary super-effective, and equally importantly, fun. Don't be fooled by this app's apparently simple appearance, there is highly powerful software under the hood. The developer (Volker) has left, as far as I can tell, no stone unturned in developing Memorion and providing the documentation for it. Memorion does have a noticeable initial learning curve, but once you get into it, you realise how powerful and effective it is. Volker (God bless him) has even provided the learner with several different modes, ranging from Beginner to Expert, in order to meet different user needs. The app comes with many – so far as I understand it – built-in vocabularies for the world's major languages. Personally, I have never used these as I prefer to make my own customised wordlists for learning. This app shines in many ways; for me, one way it shines is that it allows you to add basically any language you can imagine. I have not seen this functionality anywhere else. Aside from major languages such as German, Dutch, and Norwegian, I have added the languages Old English, West Frisian, and Fering (an insular North Frisian dialect). You can customise many aspects of your card stacks, including for the non-built-in languages, and even add your own flag icons for them. In short, Memorion lets you add any learning language you damn well please! This is so welcome. Furthermore, there are many games available for practising your learned flashcards in fun ways, such as, for example, "Match 'Em", "Pick One", "Spell Me", "Pick Gender", "Type It" and "Hang 'Em" (= hangman). These last two I consider ultimate tests of your word recall. The games are fun and super-effective and you can customise them to quite an extent. For the larger languages, the app offers text-to-speech functionalities. Volker is very responsive and approachable, and has always helpfully responded to any queries I may have had. Memorion is gratis but I would happily pay a considerable sum for this software tool. I can only wholeheartedly recommend Memorion. The developer has put his heart and soul into this app, and he knows what he's on about, whether it be programming or understanding the mechanics of effective spaced repetition, and this shines clearly through. It's well worth using. It has an eccentric user interface, but you soon get used to it. You can import your own cards, which I did, and also modify existing sets. Good for learning languages.

One thing that really makes this app so good is that it has a few options for the whole interface, from more simple to more complex. I started out with the beginner mode, which was not as intimidating as some apps. And with the confidence that gave me, now I am experimenting with the other modes when I want to do something more complex. I'm also finding plenty of flashcards available with the app.

Love the fact that you can enter your own vocabulary/information. The different learning and playing options are also very helpful, as is the fact that you can set the level so that you are actually required to write the answer rather than just think of it - particularly helpful if you are learning a language that does not utilise the Latin alphabet. Edit: Just returned to the app after a forced break of more than a year - still the best vocabulary learning app out there!

This is an absolute work of art! I've tried several others, but none were perfect. One was pretty good, but got confused with duplicates (eg sono in italian can mean I am or they are). The exercise options are second to none, and it all works perfectly offline. And it's FREE! No ads! I actually want to pay but can't, so I'll try volunteering to translate as requested :)

Looked at many apps. This is the only one that has it all. The only negative is that there is so much customization that you can do, I still have not figured it all out yet. In the simple mode, it's great. Spaced learning, indefinite languages and unlimited stacks. The only feature missing is a pop up to remind you to review you sets when the phone is closed.

First of all, I searched a lot, and when I hit this app I knew that it was what I looked for. Took a bit to figure out how to import, and had to delete lots before it was correct. Well, helped me to learn functionality 😏 One big issue: I meanwhile have quite a big list of 300+ cards daily plus new ones being activated. I get as far as around 80%, then suddenly it decreases to slow motion and hangs. Tablet has loads of free memory and space, so wonder why? Have to deactivate to stay below 300...

I've never written an app review before, but feel I need to say how awesome Memorion is. I was looking for the perfect spaced repetition app, and tried every option in the app store until I found this one. Set up was a bit convoluted and it took me a while to figure out how to configure and reverse my decks, but once I did it's amazing! Games are addictive for learning new cards, and proper spaced repetition means I'm getting vocab into my long term memory. I would pay for this app. Thank you!!

Well what a find! Have been looking for a flashcard app that had more options than Quizlet and Cram. Memorian has got that in abundance and makes it fun, great to be able to import existing sets from other apps, as most of what I use are pre-made, so far, it is making language learning far more interesting. Some comments have been made about the complexity of the app, but I found nothing of the sort - just take care and read what the developer says.It is great to be enthused about an app, and want to go back to it as soon as possible - brilliant!

I've been using this app now for nearly one year and it is simply amazing!! The algorithms that sort the cards for you are very good. And the statistics and the emojis really help you keeping up the motivation. Although some things/options are a bit un-intuitive on a first sight, the more you dig into the options of the app, you realize that it has basically all your wishes covered, not least thanks to its super versatile expert mode. Guys, give this app a try! And thanks, Volker, for this incredible work!

Too complicated - can't figure out how to use it for what I want. I wanted to create cards that I rec the audio. This app is way too complicated for creating your own cards. I can't even figure out how to delete my test stack of cards. It's okay for studying cards that are already created and using their audio (tts). But just trying to delete something has got me stumped for over an hour. It's probably good if you're not interested in creating or having control of what you create.

I have been using this app for a few months, to learn Polish. Daily. Its text to speech functionality is really helpful. And the ability to influence the length of time to the next repetition is very useful. I have learnt to use only a small part of its functionality, but it's a tool in which the creator has obviously put a lot of thought and effort. I've seen a review complaining about a lack of functions - no way can that be serious! Good work, well done.

The most configurable flash card program with many options, allowing you to use in many ways. I needed to be able to add short example sentences as well as translations of words and several fields exist for doing this. Imports and exports, backups all working perfectly. Took a little while to find my way around but once familiar my target language fully loaded with lots to learn, set up just how I needed. Thank you for providing such a mature, well developed app adfree and sharing your hobby!

This is absolutely EVERYTHING I wished for in a flashcard app and I really appreciate that it is free. I just wish there was a way to control the tts speed within the software because SOME devices like the kindle don't have a tts speed control option in settings. I have only been able to control the speed in few apps like Clozemaster or Reedy which come with built in speed calibration. I realize that it's not a common complaint but I hope you could add a built-in tts speed control in the future.

This app just keeps getting better. I exported my saved translations from Google translate and imported them into Memorion. Now I can play games with difficult passages which GREATLY helps with the tedium and info overload from the other forms of learning I use (videos, texts, easy to read books, audio lessons, conjugation and new vocabulary flashcards, etc.)

Really impressive. The most customizable and modular spaced repetition program I've ever seen. Plug your decks in easily from any other program. Also available: games including matching, spelling from audio (built into the card, OR there's an option to text-to-speech in numerous languages), text replacement, cloze, etc. Highly recommended.

Having used various flash card apps in the past years, and experienced extensively this app for over a month, I would say that this is the best and most powerful flash card app by far. It allows one to import decks from many sources, tweak the decks in many ways, and learn in a dozen ways including games. There are beginners, advanced, and expert modes of operation. Its full capacity seems only limited by one's imagination. A must-have app for flash cards!

Excellent app, I am using it to learn Italian currently and it has helped me a lot. But recently I've noticed something that happens with the practice part when you are supposed to hear the word and then type it, is that in some words it's pronouncing it letter by letter instead of the whole word, and when I type the answer each letter is in a separate line instead of the whole word together. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

Very nice, very complex app that really does its thing. It's great that there are no ads and built-in vocabulary. For a beginner like me, it's a good starting point. The repeat mechanism is also quite helpful! A mandatory introduction might be helpful, it took me awhile to understand that I should take the tour. Having done it, I now know a lot better how to use it! Thanks for the amazing effort that must have gone into this!

Great app, makes commuting fun and the best time of the day. Memorion provides lots of options, great statistics, different user modes makes getting started easy. Many built-in languages. Most importantly, very effective way to memorize words, phrases, equations, whatever you need. Highly recommended! A++.

This is an amazing app, I am 72 and have struggled to learn dutch for a long time and blamed it on my age, using this app and it's technique has vastly improved my performance. I don't blame my age anymore, I have my life back. Good working structure. I am impressed. My only problem is that i also have an iPad and iPhone and this brilliant program is not available with apple, their loss as i keep alive my old Samsung tablet just for this app, yes its the best of all I've seen, I have seen all

Such an intelligent and intuitive flashcards app- love it!

It is very useful App, helped my children a lot. But recently there is a problem. The App icon suddenly disappears, although the program is in the list of programs, but i can't open it. each time I need to reinstall it again. and after some days the icon disappears again.
