I really hate the recent update with "easy words" being learned faster... Everyone has different conception of easy/difficult words. To be honest this update has just managed to make my "difficult words" list expand and of course the said list is only available if you pay... Apart from that the app is fine, although there's less and less content available for free.
The vocabulary course I created is used by the app to make money through an "unlock the full course" button! This app and its philosophy used to be great. Now, changes in the interface occur very often while the subscription fee is raised. Also, you can't browse for other personal courses in the app. Your credit card is more important than knowledge.
When there's a word in a phrase that I can't understand, there's no way to find out what that word is after I skip/give up... it just goes on to a new phrase! I also sometimes feel that the app is geared towards the illusion of progress, rather than reaching a usable level of italian in a public setting! Having said that, it is engaging and perhaps sheer volume will get me there. They also mix up the various aspects, like spelling, word order and direct translations, which maintains interest
It feels like slow progress, going over things I've gotten right many times before. Likely that's what it takes for vocabulary and usage to become second nature. Great variety of approaches - definitions, comprehension, composition, spelling, and so on. I also like that it comes at the material both starting from the English and starting from the French, and gives the original, literal translation, and the vernacular. I think all that helps create a more immediate and instinctive understanding.
I really enjoy this app, much more than duolingo and other language apps I've tried. The help team is really helpful and responsive too. I'd love to have widgets I can put on my home screen, because as someone with ADHD, a visual reminder to practice is by far the most effective way for me to actually do the thing.
Overall I like Memrise, but I have one big problem, the listening exercises come in two volumes soft and loud. I have a hearing loss, and if I get a soft listening exercise in the range of my hearing loss I can crank the volume only to get yelled at by the next exercise. That's not enjoyable at home, and untenable outside of the home with headphones.
It's a really good app since it teaches phases and words that can be used in daily life. It also doesn't have any ads which is really good. Although some of the feature such as pronouncation, learn with local ect are lock, they sometime give you try it for free. And one of the best thing is even if you're using the free version you can access to the whole course. They won't block you from more difficult course. You're also able to skip easy stuff easily. Its a very good app
Honestly, this helped me jump into Japanese, and I LOVE it. This makes learning languages so much better than any other stale apps... The price for the subscription is honestly worth it. You can get videos of real people giving you TikTok sized videos of information, and it really helps. It really helps with grammar and vocabulary. And the reviews are straight to the point and really refreshes your memory. If it wasn't for this app, I don't know how I would study Japanese.
Memrise is a nice app, however there are some shortcomings. Pronunciation is terrible. Some speakers don't enunciate well so it is difficult to understand them. You hear 3 different speakers say the same thing 3 different ways. Which one do I learn? On some exercises, they leave out the correct sequence of words as well as pronunciation. Memrise is useful, but you will have to learn correct pronunciation elswhere.
The app itself initially seems useful, but once you've used it for a little while, more and more ads creep in. They seem desperate to separate you from your money, and it ruins the experience. I'm highly unlikely to spend money on an app that tries to strongarm me like this - otherwise I might have paid. Seems like a shame.
I love this app, so, so much.. But you have changed so much. You can't go very far anymore without paying for a premium. It's a shame as you used to be able to do a lot for free, now you have reduced it and it doesn't seem fair. I would personally love to see more free stuff. Not everyone can afford premium... So lowering stars for lack of free content.
This used to be brilliant I almost have like 100 streak I love it, but recently the sounds barely ever play, the audio tests to choose 3 speakers only plays 1 and doesn't let me select the others, the videos of speakers in different situations have a conversation never loads and more. I've tried reinstalling and still having the same problem.
No way! This app is so good and effective. It helped me a lot with learning languages. Even if i am using this app for a short period of time and so far i can say that its the best language learning app i ever tried. I love the option with the native speakers pronouncing the words and phrases. And the subscription prices are really good according to the other apps who are overpricing their products. If i wil have more money, i will deffinitively consider subscribing!
MEMORIZE app is very amazing experience. Its very interesting app and it has mix of exercises and live conversation videos that keep user focused and helps build vocabulary very fast with compere to any other apps. I would strongly suggest to any language learning that use this interactive up if you would like to build vocabulary farst. I highly appreciate the app designer team. They come up with very unique experience for the language learner. This app cost is absolutely worth. Thanks.
Love the app, it's vastly improved my Portuguese. I'd request an improvement where one can choose to watch the videos with subtitles multiple times as they are extremely useful when trying to hear the full extent of the language being used. Looking forward to many more hours spent on the app!
EXCELLENT APP😻👌 uses videos and pictures to help lessons feel more interactive,, and if your a visual/audio learner this is the app for you. It's also not as harsh with mistakes like Duolingo where of you make a certain amount of mistakes your done for the day, the developers actually want you to learn. (ITS NOT JUST ABOUT WHAT YOUR MISSING OUT ON IF YOU DON'T PAY FOR PREMIUM)
I cannot understand why this app has received quite a high rating on Google Play. As a user of the pro version, I have encountered several major issues on the app. Every time I finish my daily learning on the app, it doesn't get updated on the PC version, and vice versa. Moreover, when I launch a lesson or the "Classic Review," it sometimes loads that of another language that I am learning on Memrise. I have reported these issues to the admin but they haven't been improved. For these reasons, I don't recommend the pro version as I don't see its value, and I don't think I will renew my pro membership in the near future. (Update: as the admin has suggested, I have already reported these problems but they have just said that they were currently working on them and won't make sure that they will be fixed. I don't strongly believe that the premium version worths enough money just in case that you are thinking about subscribing it. There are still bugs and lags you encounter even on the premium version.)
Really the best app for learning languages ❤️ I'm doing Korean & German course and I'm amazed. I love the fact that we can mark words as difficult and we can choose phrases that we already know. I love speakers. Also a grammar section i good. Before using that app i used Duolingo and really missed grammar. The only thing that I would add are badges. For some achievement as 100 words learned we would get badget that we can use to watch some lessons from premium for example learn with vocals :)
The App is useful for learning Korean or any other language because it has spaced repetition method in its excercises and teaches useful phrases and words, but I wish you changed the UI design of the app, because it's a bit ugly and messy... Also please focus on teaching new words (vocabulary) first rather than throwing up long and difficult phrases... Please teach Korean words according to various categories first like it's there in Duolingo.
I love like all the content on this app -- history, art, music, flags. It's so much more than just languages! Of course, it has a lot of languages, too, with multiple levels. Oddly, I can't load anything but the languages from the app; I have to open my account in a browser. And the app can be a little twitchy, which I've found I can get around by clicking the Learn button. So, not perfect, but I use it every day and recommend it for any class you're taking, or for general learning.
The best in its class! 👌 Suggestion Box: 1. Add IELTS/Advanced level English course, complex grammar and vocabulary, 2. Make it more interactive and social like Duolingo, 3. Score board and ranking in dashboard must be easy to understand the progress of a course and editable, 4. Add global ranking, 5. Add an option to remove people from Leaderboard.
I am using for past 3 days and it's so easy and had goof daily use words spoken by native peoples the short videos are amazing the app so far have let me learn more then 15 words and I had recommended to many friends. Keep it up and feed it more words guys. By the way may I get free Pro version for 3 months. I think I will learn through this app German completely. Danke
I have tried many learning languages apps, & Memrise is clearly my favourite. Not boring, not too repetitive, the videos with the locals help a lot. I can really feel I am making progress, even with only the free version ! 👌🏻.
It's a great app, but they need to be more careful what image they use for the Comprehension Tests. Some of the Japanese ones set you up to fail (the German ones have been fine, oddly). Shows one person from the skit, "Did they say this?" You answer. "No. Wrong. You're supposed to know we were talking about the other person." Shows an object with no people. "Did she get the item?" The only characters were both female, one did, one didn't. Hello? How should I know which person you mean?
A small but solid improvement would be an expansion of the stats feature e.g. words learned/points. I have a ton of points/words from an old attempt at German that make it look like I have learned more of my current language than I really have. A breakdown by language would be nice.
It's a really complete app. regarding the amount you pay, you get a lot of advantages. I am using this app for four years and I learned English, Spanish and French with this application. but it would be great if you add the option to chat with the people who are learning same language. so we can talk and improve our speaking, even we will be able to ask them for challenge and get point base on our result.
