Words are not MENSA quality. Was working fine until last month 3/17. It did not auto update or manually update. That works now but now it produces a fetch error when you click on a word from the history and the pronounce function stopped working.
So far every word has just been a nice way to insult someone. Not much vaeiety here.
Now the hyperlinks don't work, there are images that won't load and sometimes a description is nothing but html code.
The words are dumb, stupid, and dumb. Horrible and impracticle. All from names of literary figures pertaining to being optimistic or pessimistic
The words for the last 4 days in a row were niggler, cockshy, tar baby, and niggard... Grow up and give me some words I'm actually going to use.
The words that come up are pretty stupid and do not expand the vocab of any person.
On shows one word, this used to a cool app. Now i just shows question marks
Got two words out of the app. Then won't refresh anymore, there's no manual refresh either. Their forums are full of this problem and yet nothing is done.
Cool app nice widget glad u fixed the errors where u could see html code and stuff. Probably the reason this isn't rated higher. Fixed now and happy
This is supposed to be word of the day not cliche phrase of the day. No new words on weekends and most of the time it's some stupid phrase (like god's penny) and not a word.
This app used to bring up words worthy of its title, lately it almost seems like it's pulling from the urban dictionary. Bring back the advanced vocabulary! For the dummies complaining about refreshes, the app updates once per day ( hence the name ) and only on weekdays. If you install on Friday, you won't see a new word until Monday.
I like it, more challenging words so far than other apps, and i really the etymology of the words. The only thing i would change or add would be the option to make the background translucent.
It was really good but lately there have just been question marks and non sensical definitions.
Like this app, like the widget. was having some trouble with words not displaying but seems to be working now. Would be nice if it updated on weekends tho!
Good word of day app but some words are not MENSA quality, can't view past words prior to date of installation or for days you don't open the app.
I would give this app 5 stars, if I could share the word of the day and it's detail page, to G+, and Facebook. I really like that this app has no interest in my privacy, and only requests the access it needs to function.
Daily disapointment, Unimpressive words, and usually just peoples names, the meanings have been the same or the opposite this week and there are no words on weekends. Good app, moslty poor words. My search for a decent daily word widgit continues.
Same as everyone else. Worked for three days, stopped refreshing. Junk.
Nice concept but it never refreshed. Uninstalling. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Thats all youll get with this app. Doesnt deserve to be an app actually
Words are not unique or unusual. Today the "mensa" word was peeps. Come on!
Sometimes it crashes, yes, but I love this app!
I was looking for new and interesting words, not words I use every day. And it's not like I'm a genius; I wouldn't qualify for Mensa. But "melancholy"? "Fiddlesticks"? Come on. That's hardly inspiring. If you really want to learn new words, you're better off with a word-of-the-day calendar.
Title pretty much says it. Mensa quality words my foot. I've heard 6 year olds talk with higher vocabulary than this.
Seriously, these words are a joke.
Incorrect politically motivated definition found on Friday 7/17... now wondering what else has been wrong....
I thought other reviewers may have been exaggerating or something but they weren't. You install, you get one word, THAT'S IT! If you install this app you're installing for one word, literally!!! Beyond pointless! UNINSTALL!
Almost everyday I am disappointed by the choice of word for the day. I say almost everyday because it doesn't consider the weekends as days of the week. I want a new word on Saturdays AND Sundays, dangit! Whoever picks the word of the day is a lethargic dummy that can't come up with anything more challenging than "chop-chop". Laaaame! I give it one star, a :(, and a thumbs down!
