I can't give a rating based on experience yet, as I haven't had the chance to try the paid version., app kept on shutting down. Just giving it 2 stars, until I find out more.
Been a subscriber to the "good" tier for a few months now. I use ping every day. So useful. Does just what I want, "read my messages while driving". It does so much more. New home screen is better. Love hearing all my calendar events for the day. Very helpful. Media play button sits on a blue tab, cuts off some of the text. Wish there was a progress bar on the media section. "hey ping" voice commands are awesome. Needs some more information on how to use it properly. My app of the year! Thanks!
I love this app I would be lost without it! it takes the place of a previous app I was using that is not on the market anymore. I always have one earbud in an ear and I hear all my messages and notifications, from all apps that I have pre-selected in the Message Loud app only, by customizing it! Thank you Google. The only downside to it is that they removed the feature from the old app I was using, which allowed you to respond by voice. They say that's unsafe, while driving, to respond to someon
Like the other guy said...it's very annoying when the app turns all my volumes off. I have missed several phone calls and messages because of this. My other text reader app never did this. I don't understand why it has to do this. I'm constantly having to go to settings and volume to turn everything back on! It also doesn't announce my phone calls like my other app did. I'm sure many people are having the same problem. Also. Even after I turn the volume back on...it will still eventually turn al
Used it for 6 months or so even bought it. Wish I didn't. Keeps crashing & ALWAYS turns my phone on silent as soon as I start the app. I drive for a living & really wanted it to work. Was hoping the bugs would be fixed. When it DOES work it's great but that's rare. I have changed things in the settings and it STILLS go back to how it was even after I save the changes. Don't waste your money paying for it thinking you'll have a better experience because you won't. Hate being mean but I don't lie!
Works great but it's difficult to shut down. I don't need it running unless driving. Force the app to stop, and it starts up again.
Free version is super annoying. The app keeps closing. When it is working I keep hearing a tone thru by Bluetooth earpiece multiple times a minute. They have made this app as painful to use as possible. Everytime i open the app I have to choose continue calls and texts in small print. It doesn't always turn your notifications back on when it is no long connected to your vehicles Bluetooth.
This app is difficult to use. Impossible to make work. The admins have no interest in helping or correcting anything. I've posted a dozen comments like this and they have all been deleted.
It performs its base function okay, but would hang if a message came in while initiating bluetooth. It changed too many settings for my taste including causing Google navigation to repeatedly turn off. I'm not looking for any app to rate my driving, least of all one that can't evaluate real time road and traffic conditions, so to make that feature so prominent was a detractor. I was looking for an app to read my 200 unread messages, not the new ones coming in.
I couldn't work out how to use the voice control while in driving mode and it doesn't respond to buttons. There are no instructions on how the voice guidance works. (so i'll turn that off) Otherwise, you still have to keep pressing buttons while driving which I found dangerous. When it did read a message, it was clear and helpful. But it also missed some text messages. Maybe it just takes some more getting used to while i'm not driving to work out how it works. I'll give it another few tries before my trial runs out. Great idea for an app though.
Good app for drivers both on short and long distance
Texting while driving is the major cause of distracted driving. I am very happy to find an app where it will read the incoming texts and emails loud to let me which of them are urgent. Now I am seeing most of them I can avoid and continue my driving without any distractions. At the same time, I can reply to the urgent calls if required. Saving a lots of time to read and letting me avoid distractions while driving. I will refer my friends and family to use this.
This App makes stuff much easier to use while driving. It responds to voice commands. It also can read emails and texts loudly. I really liked the interface of this application as well. I strongly recommend this app if you liked traveling and you don't want to miss the important stuff to respond timely.
I was happy with the version I had. It was free, and read my texts out loud. That's all I need this 4. Then had to get the latest version, because Ping changed . So updated, now I had to pay b4 I could see if it worked. it works ....but keeps turning down ringer & puts phone on silent, eventually turns off. I have to constantly check my sound, make sure the phone ringer is on, and CK that it's still on. It's a pain. I wish it was like before installing the latest version and free.
After complaining about the product and giving it a less-than-stellar review, their support and engineering team reached out to me and enlisted me as a beta tester for three different pre-release versions trying to address my concerns. They went above and beyond in resolving the issue of messages being read multiple times (one time I heard the same message eight times in a row) and they have resolved the issue. I am very impressed with how hard and how fast they worked to solve this issue with more than one messaging platform that was experiencing problems. Bravo!
An app that allows you to drive hands free is exactly what I needed. Ping is very versatile, which is great!
As saying its a mobile device now saying they don't expect it on a mobile tablet. Am very disappointed as it is in my Google app store not happy.. Had ping for 2 years now all if a sudden its stopped working.
Not very impressed. Not paying a subscription for such a simple text to speech app, that's just too greedy! Don't want anyone to work for free but why can't I just buy a mediocre app like this for once and just use it as much as I want like in the good old times? Honestly, there are much better apps for free. Just check for free text to speech apps that do exactly the same things, i.e. reading anything you want from webpages, pdfs, emails etc. Asking for a monthly subscription is just insane!
Missing critical features. I was very surprised that given the robust nature of this app it doesn't have any way to filter what applications you don't want it to pick up nor can you specify what kind of notifications it announces (i.e. I don't need to know that it's a Hangouts notification, just tell me the message contents). For being a subscription service you would think they would invest more in the app's capabilities.
Don't like the interface at all. I want to be able to click on emails and chose which ones to read. The state of California considers single taps and swipes on a mounted phone to be legal and safe. If i can do that with my maps program i should be able to do it with email.
Great App, enjoying it after installation. Now, I don't have to hold the phone for reading text. It saves a lot of time and helps to focus on driving by avoiding unnecessary text or email checking. I will recommend others to try it specially for driving.
It evades the normal install screen giving only install or look at screen shots. Then it tells you it costs. Immediately uninstalled it. I will raise my review to 3 for your reply. I found your app from a Google search for free reader apps, and you were rated 3rd or 4th. I'm not sure why, I have never seen it before but the only thing the play store showed was the app name, overall rating, install and screen shots . The comment about not being free was not visible. Thanks for your nice reply.
Deleted it as didn't work well in a poor signal area. I should add that WhatsApp and my streaming radio app continued to function, ping seems to need a better connection. To their credit the developer did contact me almost immediately I posted this so I'm increasing my original 2 star to 3
I've had this app for sometime. Apparently a recent upgrade appeared to cause the App to constantly turn off. I reported this issue and within one day I was contacted by Customer support with a suggested solution. KUDOS to customer support for their timeliness as well as the recommendation which did resolve the issue.
give option to remove weather & driving rating. non-drivers use this app too. also, this app stops reading out emails if another app that does voice notification is operating like the talking clock app. on note 9 OS : 9.0. EDIT: reads out the same email 2 or 3 times sometimes. im using gmail. this is the only app that works with my phone with least amount of annoyances. EDIT 2: under Accounts when you choose email account to add, still reads out ALL email accounts though never added.
Didn't work for me, it couldn't detect the unread messages. The help/support was very limited.
It's free to download, so that's cool, that's a minimum of a dollar if you want to use the app at all for anything. They will give you a 14-day trial if you agree to get the mid grade membership. I personally am just going to go pick one of the dozens of other text to voice apps that are absolutely free. Thanks for the app though guys, it really makes me appreciate everybody else but you.
This app is very invasive, it asks for too many permissions that have nothing to do with reading emails (GPS for example). It also does not read emails unless they happen to arrive while you have it on, and in "drive mode". I tried to mark emails unread, but it did not detect them. So, there was absolutely no way for me to get it to read my emails, unless I forwarded them to myself while I had the app on. They should say it's only for driving.
