Full screen video ad before I install and too many video ads uninstalled
This is the ICS messaging app. Yes, thats all there is to it and its exactly what you want if you have a Samsung device with a proprietary messaging app thats overriding the stock Android components. Tested on several S2s and an S3 and it worked like a charm. If you are receiving double notifications, in the app, go to menu>settings and check the Disable saving messages. option under Workarounds. I found that if you disable or freeze the stock Samsung messaging app (the icon has a yellow and white chat bubble) and do NOT check the Workarounds box it will receive messages and correctly and accurately notify you without any issues. Again, tested with multiple Samsung Galaxy phones. Cheers!
Best option for a visually simple sms app while still being perfectly functional. For all those looking to send MMS, I have a solution that works on my SGS2 and might work on your phone, but its not idea. Send the MMS as usual, which wont work right now, then hold the message and select edit. Just hit the send icon again and it works for me after that. Another MMS issue is if you turn off retrieve MMS in the stock app you dont get any MMS but if you turn it on you receive it twice. If you turn it on in stock but off in this app, you still get two MMS with one working and one not working. All these issues still make it worth it to me. Lightweight great UI with minor bugs vs the other bloated and over the top options available.
A bit disappointed. Search function works well, so does the sync feature. But I can't open some apps, even after paying to remove ads. I can only see the previewed text and can't continue with the conversation
After the messaging app that came on mg spectrum 2 crashed and deleted itself, I looked at the play store and clicked on this app because it looked just like the messaging icon that came with my phone. I installed and opened the app and to my surprise, all my old text messages were still there and I was able to send texts normally and easily. Im very thankful for this app, this really helped! Thank you!
I see a lot of people complaining about this app. I have a Nexus 5. Im not sure how it is with other peoples phones but if you press Shift, the emoticons button turns into the Enter button allowing you to skip to the next line. Also, I can only send/receive picture messages when my WiFi is off and my mobile data is on. That was my fix for that issue. In conclusion, I like this messaging app WAY better than Google Hangouts. Easy to use and feels exactly like the old SMS/MMS system I used on my last phone.
I often tell my peers who are hell-bent on using messaging apps - what is so bad about using traditional email? Its pretty much the same thing. But what sets Messenger apart from email is the ability to add instant live interactive video, photos, stickers, memes, and emojis, right within the app. Traditional email is simply not as convenient or fun.
it's a pretty decent app only downloaded this app because none of the other apps were working but I have to give it 4 stars because of the amount of ads that I get. Sometimes that adds will pop up right after I get out of a conversation other times that adds will pop up while I'm in the middle of a text and it's very annoying
It works great! I first disabled the messaging app (via setting, application, looked up for messaging and then disabled it). Then I installed the new app via Google Play. It just works. By the way, MMS works too. :) Thanks a lot! Great job!
Messenger helps me connect with old friends. I really like the app, however I do not like the sound it makes when I receive a message. However, that is a personal preference and Ive had no issues when actually messaging friends.
Love it! I like the way a small circle with the picture of who you are messaging with appears on your phone and dings to notify you of a message. Im more likely to hear it than with a regular text. I like that you can see when a message you send has been viewed.
Before I found this, I was used to having to replace the stock mms.apk with a custom one. With this app, its just a few taps away to enjoy a sleek, comfortable interface with no hassle. Im able to send and receive pictures too, so thats a plus.
Excellent messaging platform. Has all my Facebook contacts and lets me call and text them just fine. The chat bubble that appears on your screen is more helpful than youd expect, it makes it very easy to keep up on a single conversation, or multiple.
It is already a great messaging app. Some of us use skype as primary messaging app. But many of our friends use WhatsApp. Therefore, if we can send messages from skype to WhatsApp, then many of messaging needs are solved. One more thing is that if skype is integrated in outlook app, then it will be convenient to us.
After I toggle the paper clip to add an attachment, the (paper clip) toggles off every time I try too tap on an image or touch anything on the screen. can't add any type of attachment. Is there some setting causing it to do this???? Good app otherwise. Im using Galaxy note 10 Android 11
I prefer this app over my Samsung text messaging app. For whatever reason, my android wont send photos to any IOS devices through text messages. Its extremely frustrating, and it never used to be an issue. So I use Messenger because I NEVER have problems sending photos or videos.
Messages: its a great app to use txt messages. It has great features in it. It is very easy to use that app. I really like that app. It works very well. Messaging with this app is amazingly easy. Texting experience is awesome. I loved it so much and recommend you to install it.

Works like a charm, and fits into the phone like its second skin. Great to have if youre on Samsung phones with their ugly messaging interface, and things like Go Pro are just too cute. This is the default messaging app till Google unifies sms with Hangouts. Thanks Tim.
Nothing extraordinary & limited options, but its free. As with any free app ads r problematic & this app isnt immune. There is an option 2 eliminate ads by purchasing the premium version 4 $1.99+tax, a 1×fee. Background options available via download. Can modify font size. Style is unalterable. Nothing atypical r/t permissions/privacy policy but personal data is released to 3rd parties at apps disgression & reviews r nonsensical & suspect as if they were paid 2 write random nonsense. Awesome. I love messenger almost more than I like text messaging. I love the fact you can make FREE international calls. You can send and receive video, pictures & text messages as long as u have an internet or wifi connection. You can block people, mute calls/messages & send and recieve money. Im able to contact friends I havent seen in years after Ive found them on Facebook. Great app

Finally, a messaging app that is compatible with Kit Kat! I tried a few other apps prior to this one, and they did not resolve the issues related to sending and receiving MMS. Great app, works wonderfully!
I dont use expensive mms when email is much better so this is the perfect sms for me. One of my sms was not received so I turned on delivery receipts and have not had a problem since. I also turned off notifications in settings of Samsung sms as they were unreliable and turned on the notifications in the settings of this app, as well as using renotification app to make sure I dont miss sms
Great app for calling and messaging, never had any problems or issues the call does get a bit glitchy or distorted after a while and drops out, but other than that this is a great app to use for contacting people.
I downloaded the App a few days ago and I find the App quite good. However, there is need to create provision for SENT/DELIVERED for the senders to be sure the Message has been SENT and DELIVERED. You should additionally provide for SHORT DELAY at the time of Sending to allow for any correction of Errors. I believe this would add more Value to this great App.

Working great, but having the slight issue others are having with the contact pics only showing up if I send the text out first. Notifications are working great. I use this app in addition to smspopup which is also awesome. Thanks!
Ever since Viber launched more than 8 years ago, its been my go-to messaging app. I love the way messages, files, pics and videos are sent instantaneously and reliably. No fb messenger or whats app for me thanks. Viber is the absolute best messaging app! You could ask for a bigger file allowance though. I cant send video files longer than 3 minutes.
