After this latest update, the search feature in text messages will not show all results. For instance, if I search for the word "hi" with one of my contacts, it only shows you the most recent "hi", it won't show you the results for every single instance of that word with your contact; and it used to give you ALL the results in the text history

I have used this app for years on multiple devices and have loved it. Over the last two weeks or so it's been having a lot of issues. It will give me a notification saying "messages is processing an incoming message" and either there will be a random image loading that was not actually sent to me, or it will not show any of my messages at all. I have to completely turn my phone off and back on to get my messages to show, or the loading image that isnt actually there to go away.

When it works, it's great! But, there are tons of bugs otherwise that randomly appear for weeks or months at a time. Currently my inbox is blank when I click into the app. Often times the inbox itself lags or messages just don't send at all; either the send button is non responsive or the messages just say try again. I also can see notifications for new messages but they're not in the inbox (or,again, it's blank.)

I love this app but since the update I've had nothing but issues. When I hit send I get an error message that there's an issue and the message can't be sent. Sometimes a message will act like its sending and then just disappears. Sometimes it will show back up 10 minutes later as sent but sometimes its just gone forever. I'm also not receiving messages. If someone sends multiple texts I will only get one and the other comes an hour later. Please fix this!!!!

Started happening this past week or so. App is nearly unusable. Every time I enter a message. It disappears. Like it's put in a queue to send but it's not displayed on the messages lists. So I can't tell if it actually got sent. Sometimes it's take a VERY long time. Currently waiting over 10 min and don't know where my messages went. I would write it again but I know it would be a dupe and the same issue. Just seems like a bug that needs to be fixed.

Unreliable. Half the time I send a message, it says sent, but then 30 to 60 minutes later when I'm wondering why the person hasn't responded, I get a pop up notification that the message wasn't sent yet and "(person name) may not be online." This happens all the time with full strong WiFi connection or cell signal. I've tried changing the setting to automatically switch to SMS text if the chat doesn't go thru, but it doesn't do it. I have to manually tell it to switch to SMS.

I like the app just fine... Except I'm not getting all of my texts. At least once a day I see a notification of a text, but when I open the app I can't see it. I also realized that there are some text messages that I just never received. Restarting fixes the first problem, but I've never had to restart a phone daily before. I haven't found a fix to the missing texts entirely.

Update: Cleared the app's cache/data, then reset my device. Nothing changed. When I use the overlay bubbles to send messages, the messages don't send and completely disappear. If I try to enter the app when this happens, the app is blank and I get a notification that the app is "receiving an incoming message" or "updating notification settings." When I get in, it takes a few tries of retyping and sending the message for it to go through. I sent feedback in the app.

I will change my review when service is fixed. I have been having the same issues as many people since the recent updates and I have been back and forth with service, trouble shooting, as well as an "expert" support team regarding this issue with no improvement or even idea on what the issue could be. App doesn't work efficiently. Edit again because we didn't understand the first 8x already. I trouble shooted already with your professionals and it's not fixed. Pull the update. Thanks.

I've used this app for years and haven't had any issues and now I don't have any notifications if someone messages me. Even synced to my watch, I don't get notified and all my notifications tones disappeared too. It's been a frustrating issue trying to solve/figure this out. I have done in depth setting management and still not working properly.

It started disproportionately draining my battery about a week ago, and then I lost the ability to send messages through my phone or browser. It was only when I went to warn people through the reviews that I saw Google was suggesting uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This seems to have solved the problem. I keep everything updated and my device is new. I don't understand. This has happened before, but only for 10-15 minutes. Not being able to send messages is frustrating!

This app has actually gotten worse, I have not ever really thought it was bad, but recently it has gotten really bad in terms of both responsiveness and speed, I care about those most. In the past I would click send and within maybe a second or two it would be sent and delivered, currently if I send a message it can take up to 18 seconds to send a single message and that's like 4 words. And if I try and send more than that the extended time only gets worse, it has never been like that before.

Not sure what the issue is, but Messages seems to constantly lose the ability to receive MMS. Maybe it's Apple messing with their format to annoy/foil Android users, but if so, it's working! I'll constantly fail to receive messages sent in the group text - getting stuck in download limbo. I've restarted my phone several times. I've force stopped the app. I've reset the cache. I've cleared the storage. I've turned my network on/off. I've changed what network I'm on. I've done this dance for months. Some days it works. Other days it's like today when nothing I do seems to matter. I usually stop by to see if anyone else is having the problem or if there's been an update or a new solution. The updates never help - when they're even available. The customer service responses are all the same - all things I've tried that don't work. Overall it's the most common issue I've seen on this app and it's part of the app's basic functionality - receiving messages. I don't get why this thing is constantly failing, but it's the core of the app and the app is pretty essential to the phone. I never hear about Apple users not receiving messages this frequently. It's crazy that this is the most common complaint on a messaging app. Can we get a real fix? Or at least a consistent solution? Even if clearing my cache or restarting worked every time I'd be happy with that, but how is this not the #1 priority of the people working on this app? There should at least be a consistent workaround. I've done QA. I've worked in development. Why is this issue still lingering after years and years of problems? How?

Used to be very reliable... I liked it a lot for it's simple, fast, clean design. However I've had nothing but issues for a year now. Chats won't stay connected, which is frustrating. And when chats are connected 90% of my texts will send as a chat AND a regular text message... I don't receive texts from contacts I talk to the most, even when it shows on their phone that the text has delivered to me, I never receive it.

What happened??? A few days ago, everything has stopped workout correctly. I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then back on and off again so I can send and receive messages. just now took over 10 minutes to send 1 text message. I can't pull up conversations and the screen goes black when trying to search for older conversations. FIX IT!!!

Sometime if I have multiple unread messages and a new one comes through, it will send a notification tone through for every unread message I have in rapid succession. I can't find a way to turn this off and it's pretty annoying, but not enough to warrant going back to the Samsung app as this is otherwise outright better in every other regard. This has happened on my S20 and now my new S22 Ultra, so it's definitely not just my phone being weird since it's happening across multiple devices.

This app is the worst since the update. I can't send messages or take pictures or even load messages in bubbled conversations half the time, and when I do send a message, it's delayed to the point of absurdity even when I'm in an area with a great signal and connected to strong wifi. I thought there was something wrong with my phone but it's just Messages

This is a simple, easy-to-use app, perfect for texting. This was one of my first texting experiencew ands it's perfect. No bugs, no ads, just simple texting. My only complaint is the keyboard sometimes wigs out, or my fingers will switch up the text size. But as a whole, it's a great texting app. I would recommend!

Android GS8. Tried this app as I have some issues texting other android users, usually when doing wifi testing. This app doesn't appear to have solved that problem. Further, it does not send pics easily. What I mean is it routinely takes several minutes or even hours to send a message with pics-- using data or on multiple different wifi's (doesn't matter which), and sometimes I need to reclick the message multiple times to try to get it to send. I'm no expert but I've messed with the settings

I used to love this app, But since I switched to a Pixel 6, it doesn't work anymore. I scan the QR code, I get the "You're ready" message, then nothing. The screen never switches to the messages screen, it stays on the QR code. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, rebooting my phone, my pc. I looked over the internet for a solution. Nothing. And I find it so weird that a Google app wouldn't work with a Google phone. It had no problem whatsoever with my previous phone (LG G6).

Search function doesn't work, and videos can't be sent to iPhone users without being insanely compressed. EDIT: After being recommended to clear the cache for the app, the search function goes back a few months, rather than a few days now. Slightly better, but still doesn't allow me to fully search conversations that have been going on for years.

This has been a great app. I've had it for 3 years after the factory android messaging app on my phone stopped working. Now apparently, there's been an update and I cannot send or receive picture or video files!!!! This is not acceptable! That's TWO Google apps that have stopped working. Google needs to fix their screwup. Just a glimpse at the latest reviews says a whole lot.

EDIT: The developers pushed out an update that has seemingly fixed the issue. Texts are sending and receiving on the Web version of the app. For now, it appears to be working. Therefore, I will re-rate it to four stars. /// This app is amazing - when it actually works! I've been using a previous version of the app that worked wondrously, but when my phone crashed and force-updated all my apps, this one included, it no longer functions properly. Messages typed on a computer get stuck in an infinite sending loop, texts on the phone don't sync with the computer app, and there're constant connection problems. I've done multiple hours of troubleshooting and workarounds, but nothing rectified the problem. Fix it!

works well. a few things. having a little message come up saying text not sent , tap to resend seems silly. why not just keep trying to resend the text? maybe it already does that? also the interface could use just a little bit of tweaking , it's pretty good. I'm the kind of person that doesn't like all the extra stickers and emoticons and stuff like that so having suggestions for replies come up by default it is annoying but you can turn it off so that's okay. minor tweaking = 5 stars.

Messaging app started having issues yesterday evening. I've chatted with my service carrier and nothing is wrong on their end. My settings are all correct. My chat list disappeared and sometimes reappears, and when it finally reappears I'm not able to send texts. I'm having issues getting them but mainly cannot send them. It shows an error message: Trouble sending. Try again. Edit: It all of a sudden started working again when I woke up this morning 5/3/22.

I am not able to search my messages. If I type something on Messeges search bar, it searches contacts only. It doesn't search contents of the messages that I have sent or received. This is awful that if I want to find something in my conversations, I'm not able to search. I manually have to go through a lot of conversations. This is very annoying. Please resolve this issue.

The "scheduled send" feature is a great idea, but it doesn't work at all! It just turns the message into a draft, but doesn't actually send it when scheduled. It just sits there in italics indefinitely. You also can't go back in and send a message to the same person you have scheduled a text for without sending the draft/scheduled message first. Edited to reply to the developer comment: I have a Google Pixel 5, which operates on Android 11.

Bubbles are broken now. I didn't realize at first what was causing it, but now I see that when responding through the bubble, sometimes the message will simply disappear when you hit send, with nothing popping up as it is even trying to send. Every time it happens I have to close the bubble, open messages just to close it properly, then reopen it and it finally works again... Why you break bubbles?! They worked fine!!! Don't break these things with "bug fixes" that only cause more bugs!!
