The weather model is good, but the interface could be better. It looks quite dated and is more or less just a mirror of the website. Not really sure what benefit the app offets over the website. Pretty accurate for the most part, just ux could be improved.
I've used this for a number of years now, always downloading it to whatever device I am using at the time and I have found it to be a good and useful app. Easy to use and understand and covering pretty much all aspects of weather data without any problems. Seems to be quite accurate and reliable in view of our changeable British weather. I would recommend it, (the app, not the weather).
Recently the app and widgets have become pretty much unusable as it crashes constantly. I really like the "next rain" feature but I fear I'm going to have to switch apps if this doesn't improve soon as it's really frustrating.
Great app easy to use. The best thing is weather warning notifications for your area, and that really helps me. Also has a widget and would be good if it had just a day one without the hours just the average of the day.
The App works great, running it in parallel with the AccuWeather app. Both work really well. The Met office app delivers a very quick and practical experience complimented with a traditional and very descriptive written over view for the day.
Useful and accurate. You can choose hourly or daily summaries of the weather. Maximum period of accuracy is about a week, but that's because Britain is in between the Atlantic and the Continental weather patterns, not because of poor forecasts.
Great app. I wish it was available as a widget. Where you can see today's forecast without going into the app. A frost warning ⚠️ would be a great bonus. A weekly forecast would also be good where you could see a few weeks ahead.
It is a very good app ,i just instaled it to see the temperature but this app shows you the pressure humidity, pollen level, visibility and what i find mosr important it showes you the temp but the n it tells you how it will fell at that hour like for example there are 13°C but because of the wind and humidity it will feel like 11°C. Really nice app
I have used this app over many years and I incline to the view that the diversity and accuracy of the information displayed is second to none. Advanced weather warnings are invaluable for planning and preparation of one's activities. It is the first app opened in the morning and the last opened at night. The app is without a doubt AFC: Absolutely First Class; strongly recommend.
Edit: No longer booting after update yesterday. Crashes after seeing splash screen everytime. Good interface, good way to see the information. Shame about the ads, but understand because the app needs funding.
Worse than useless - it's misleading! ... they constantly change their weather forcast right up the the actual time, so it's absolutely no use at all as a forcast!! ....The app consistently provides inaccurate weather predictions.
Forecasts not always the most accurate, and their regional written ones are often far too general. The rain radar has been poor quality and 'blocky' for over 3 years now, so use another free app for that now. One major bug that I've noticed for at least the last 6 months is that the remainder of the evening and the overnight forecast disappears from around 2300 hrs. You are instead only able to see the written forecast that takes effect from the following morning, so no forecast for overnight.
The Met Office is the best service or among the best at least in the world. The app is easy to use and gives me a good snapshot of the day to build my weather picture. I combine the synoptic with MWIS, Magic Seawead, and the Aviation MetOffice briefing service (again outstanding) -depending on my day activity and then you know what is happening on an hourly basis ! Living in these islands, they should teach meteorology to our kids at school!
My original review was 5 stars, but since the January 22 update the widget has become useless. Live weather has been replaced by a plain white rectangle with the update spinner in a corner. On numerous occasions I've restarted it, cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled it, and of course restarted the phone. None of these have workedm. The most annoying thing is that I have paid for it. Maybe time to go back to the BBC app.
I like and trust the app, but of course, you have to read it with intelligence and understanding - the times and percentages etc are not exact of course. Problem - in the detailed weather picture (after clicking on the outline forecast) it's isn't scrolling properly, but sort of stuttering as you scroll. Only in the last week or so, but on two phones (both OnePlus 5T, Android 10).
Have used this app for years. Latest update and perhaps also the rollout of android 12 reduces its utility because sideways scrolling no longer works properly. Have uninstalled and reinstalled it, but no improvements seen. This is particularly annoying when strong storms are forecast, and windspeeds are also off the bottom of my small screen. I have been using the web version instead and this is slightly better. I am actively looking for an alternative app.
What is the logic for changing the weather symbols for less legible ones? I didn't think it was going to rain today until I looked closely and saw those faint blue diagonal lines. What was so wrong with the old symbols? You could read them at a glance. Thankyou for changing back to droplets. Much more legible. 12/02/22 Why have you stopped the swipe gesture working when scrolling across the forecast? using the buttons is much more clunky and slow. Please restore it.
Overall very useful and informative. plenty of detail and easy to interpret. The only improvement I'd like is to be able to see the next full day on the quick access swipe along section, instead of having to open up the 'full forecast' section. Minor detail but it would be helpful. Many thanks for an excellent app!
I have used the BBC app for weather for the past three years, while my wife has used the MET office app. By definition they are forecasts but they are very rarely the same and on balance the MET office is the more accurate.
The accuracy of this app is consistently pretty amazing. Be nice if it had moon phases but given its a weather forecaster, after several years, still have to give it a high five...
Great App, easy to use, accurate and covers all areas even the more obscure. Perfect for outdoor sports and recreation. Would highly recommend.
The map is very useful for the rain forecast. A map of the cloud and map of the temperature would also be helpful if that could be developed.
Clear, concise weather data laid out in a visually appealing app making it convenient and quick to check the weather. App is bug free, smooth running and fast.
Love this, seems very accurate, love the map to see where the rain storms are so I can nip out and stay dry 😁 minimal advertising too. Edit: 3 years on, still using it, still the best weather app ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
To my great regret my brilliant (now sadly defunct) UK Weather app wouldn't transfer to my new phone. I checked out other weather apps, and quickly struck out the annual subscription ones. Then looked at the Met Office one. Just what I wanted. Weather maps, wind, wind gusts, preciptitation. Nothing complicated, and very easy to navigate. Dumped the adverts ( £2.99), and now have an app that suits me perfectly. Very happy.
