Getting started
Whether you’re an existing or new Metro Bank customer it’s simple to get started.
- If you’re registered for online and telephone banking, you’ll need your 12 digit customer number, 8 digit security number and your password
- If you’re not registered for either, you’ll need your 12 digit customer number and the details of the card you used most recently or your Magic Word.

Metro Bank’s mobile app is available for Personal customers and also Business customers if they’re using Business Internet Banking only.

EDIT: in the last month the app just constantly gives a 'something went wrong' error message when opening, making it largely unusable. There's multiple reviews saying this, why has this critical error not been fixed?! Really good banking app - clean, simple and fast UI, and really clear view of accounts and balances, including pending transactions. The only reason this gets a 4 star for me is for using its own keyboard rather than the system keyboard for numbers. But otherwise a great app.

It's sadly not reliable at all. Please do something about this. I have had issues over 20 times in 8 months,not including the times the app just displays a maintainence page. I've lost count of the times I can't access. You disable the app It may not work because of too many devices! At GreenPark. I put up with an unhelpful arrogant narcissistic clerk telling me he planned to become a film director.He said I was the one at fault as too many devices were connected. But I have only one phone!

EDIT: I have just updated the app and now I can't even log in! Says "something went wrong. Try again later". Used to be great and easy to use. Now myself and my business partner keep getting locked out. I can log in but can't actually view the incoming and outgoings. Can't move money. Can't verify transactions. Been into the bank 4 times to resolve this and it is an ongoing battle. Twice they have reported it to It. And we just get told to uninstall, reinstall and change log in details.

Worst app ever, have to switch off/on my data and/or wifi and clear cache everytime just to get it to log me in. When it does finally log me in, there is always some error, so I can't transfer money etc, so I have to close it down completely. Clear cache, then start all over again. If this was made internally, fire everyone. If an outside developer made this for you, sue them for providing a non working app.

The app isn't prompting my sign in correctly more often than not and most times just give a an annoying message that something went wrong ... try again, but as I press on try again nothing happens. I don't experience any problems with the banking apps of other banks. Very disappointing. Surely you can code this better so it works and loads in any major smart phone in the market. There must be many unhappy Android users at the moment.

Too many bugs. Doesn't let me make payments since last update. Reinstalled and then won't recognise the final pin verification but detects when it's wrong. Invisible buttons as part of the verification process. Used another phone and now it won't send the sms verification. It's bug roulette. a new one each time.

This app is hopeless as it logs itself out every minute. I'm doing some banking on it, turn round to look something up, turn back again and I've been timed out. It's absolutely infuriating. I have phoned Metro up to complain but nothing gets done about it. I am going to move my Personal and Business accounts to Nationwide who give you up to 10 minutes before you get logged out!

This is the worst banking app i have ever had... constantly crashes. Keep having to reboot my phone. My wife also has the same problem with app on her phone. It doesn't matter how many times you reinstall the app, it will still keep crashing... Metro bank! You really need to sort this app out.

EDIT - 4 Months later and still having the same issues with the app, are the developers planning on fixing it at all?! Used to work perfectly fine until now. Now everytime I open the app I get "something has gone wrong try again" screen before even getting to login. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, worked the first login now back to the errors. Until this is fixed it is completely unusable

Used to be great, lately there have been a lot of 'something went wrong' and today got locked out of my business account because the app wouldn't recognise my password. It got resolved after calling the bank on the phone and resetting the password and reinstalling the app. It seems to me that updating the app doesn't seem to work smoothly. Instead of pushing the updates, users need to uninstall and reinstall the app and change the password.

80% of the time when trying to send across money to another account, it gives me errors that something went wrong. It's extremely frustrating especially during moments in which I'm in a big rush and urgently need to send money across asap. Have to restart the app 4-8 times to get it to work. Luckily I only use this as a savings sort of account rather than a main account because if this was my main account, I would have deleted it and left metro because it's a headache to keep restarting the app.

On my old phone (S9), I had very few problems with the app and would have given about 4/5 stars. I know have an S10, and in the two weeks I have been using my new phone, I haven't even been able to get to a log in screen. I just get, Something went wrong. Please try again. Really makes me sad because I like metro bank a lot.

Rubbish money always missing and unaccountable for. Money taken from your account when orders online and then taken from pending. So you pay twice for one item. When questioned about it they say it was paid its on your state ment but on the statement you can only see you paid once for said item but you cannot see your pending items on your stament and that's how you loose money from metro Bank I am sick of it happening to me all the time they sometimes cannot even add up.

Better than HSBC but still lacking functionality. " hmm, something is not quite right. unexpected error" appears in every 2-3 days. i tried to reinstall the app, format my phone but it would keep appearing. Transaction details are very limited in details, compared to my Monzo app. Happy that you added option to confirm transaction via your app

What a shame ..... from the best to the worst. This app use to be one of the best high street banking apps available. Now it keeps crashing, doesn't update your account balance after a payment - which lead to me paying someone twice. What a Nightmare 😩!!!!

Made 3 payments to myself (to my monzo) none of which went through. Updated the app, tried again and it worked. 2 hours later those 3 payments came through. This is an awful banking experience (imagine it had been to someone else?) and i'll be changing banks asap as you consistently show poor app experience.

I had a lots of "issues" coz this app couldn't tell me the next 6x winner numbers for the lottery )) I think ppl who get connection errors is not the fault of the app but the mobile data connections! Update; Error: "an error has occured" so, it's not because mobile data...

The same as with other users. Can Not use this app anymore, especially when you need it most! "SOMETHING WENT WRON" message. On top of this your contactless card stoped working, was penalised by TFL twice for unfinished journey, did not catch my train and missed the job, didn't get to the night bus and had to walk for 1 hr home at night after 12 hr shift. Did not get to Amazon Fresh because this card registered with them. Metro Bank, are you nuts!? What's going on?When are you going to fix it???

Fed up of constantly not being able to access my app. Keeps coming up with a message saying there's something wrong and the only way to fix it us to restart my phone, which is not always an option...4 months later and still no improvement...but after speaking to someone on the phone I'm not surprised as the IT team seem to not know how to fix flaws in their system

I have several banking apps, probably worst ever. Not bad simple app until few months back. I have 2 phones. Suddenly in one phone my password is not recognised in the other the same password no problem. One phone ssys I'm blocked, Now my other phone keeps saying an error has occurred. Few months later problems mount. We're encouraged to use apps but this bank is no longer to be recommended. I see I'm not the only person with problems. Why do some companies continue to employ a useless IT team.

Starting to be fed up with the app, always some problem. First it wouldn't recognise my pin code, lovely bank people told me that I must have put it in wrong. The same thing happened to everyone in my family, did we all suddenly forget the pin codes? Now keeps saying "something went wrong". It works for a bit after reinstalling and then comes the same message again. Might have to start thinking about changing banks as it is quite important that I have access to accounts when needed.

How this app has a rating of 4.2 is just beyond me, everytime I want to use this app it is like a game of Russian roulette with a 1/6 chance of it not saying 'something went wrong' and actually working. It has become routine now for the past year to have to open and close the app about 5 times until the error message goes away and I can actually log in. Many times when I needed to urgently transfer money with someone waiting this has become a major obstacle and just made everything harder.

It's mostly a good app. I like how when a transaction is pending it takes it out your balance before it takes it out your account, because then you dont have to work out how much you have. One thing I don't like is when I open the app and it goes "SOMETHING WENT WRONG," and the retry button doesn't work. Then I have to fully close the app and reopen it, but it still doesn't work. The only way it then works is by me force stopping the app. Please fix. This happens almost every time I open the app
