I'm pretty pleased with my Metromile app experience so far. It's been pretty accurate and is easy to understand. Keeping it simple works for me and should work well in tandem with the Metromile Pulse.
Could have been really useful, but when my phone upgraded to Android 12 this app drained my battery fast, and I couldn't turn it off. Besides, it's only great in case of car trouble, if you have the insurance. The part that reads engine codes didn't tell me why my engine light was on -- so that was a fail. It rated my phone use while driving in a way that makes me think it confuses me driving my van with riding as a passenger in another car. Lots of potential for improvement, not there yet.
We chose metromile because I was driving a very short distance to work but still needed a car. They had the most competitive rates and an easy to use app. Over the course of 2 years my rates steadily increased with 0 notification from Metromile. Because the increases are on a per mile basis, they appear tiny, but add up significantly. We finally got so frustrated that we switched to Geico, which is significantly less expensive. This company uses shady growth tactics, do not trust them.
Easy to use app, excellent affordable insurance! My commute is less than 10 miles round-trip, so MetroMile has been great for my family. Even on months that we've taken long road trips, we've never had to pay over $60/mo for two cars (not full coverage) which is still way better than what I was getting before. In normal months, I pay around $45 and more recently, with Covid, it's always around $38. I love it as much as a person can love auto insurance.
So far so good! Still haven't received my mile counter but I'm already saving over $60 a month with my base amount$... +.11¢/mile even if i decide to take a road trip I know I'll be saving. I'll re review in a month...
This is a great way to go when driving is not a daily or weekly occurrence. Seniors this is a fantastic way to cut car costs without giving up your car.
Metromile has really worked well for me. Don't drive much so has really benefited me. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Good app and cheap rates for sure. But pray you don't actually need to go through the claim process. Sometimes things just don't work if you try to remove as much human interaction as possible. Insurance claim is one of these cases.
Excellent auto Insurance company. After being with Geico, State Farm, and Travelers, I found Metro mile offered excellent coverage plans and rates. I have been with Metro mile for almost 2 years, and I'm totally impressed and 100% satisfied. The customer service support is excellent, the app always accurate and never "down", and the times I've had to call for roadside assistance (keys lockout) had the locksmiths show up within 10 minutes of the first phone call. A 5 Star auto insurance company.
Very dissapointed recently in coverages. You're required a minimum of $250 deductible, and maximum $30 daily rental. No problem! Insurance is a great price, but here comes the issues... First, rental cars cost more than $30 per day. Metromile needs to adjust this. Second, I sufferred glass and body damage from the same incident, and now I'm required to pay two separate deductibles for each. That's $500 out of pocket. Third, my repair shops been waiting weeks for glass payment, with no response.
I live in San Francisco, and don't drive much (except for the occasional day trip) When I got Metromile about 4 years ago, their base rate was $30 and per mile rate was < $0.04. Over the past 4 years, their base rate went up to $52, and per mile rate went up to $0.08, effectively doubling our monthly premium. Now it costs more than a conventional insurance company! No thanks, Metromile! I'll pass.
The metromile app works quite well and has nice integration with all their services. My only complaint is that you have to type your entire login when you are editing your insurance coverages, instead of the app authenticating for you.
Horrible Insurance. Save yourself a headache. 2 Pulse Devices malfunctioned on a vehicle that I don't drive much. I returned them and I was charged for miles I never drove. 3rd one started to malfunction now but the app doesn't even tell me that. I got an email instead. These people don't know how to run a business. Website says the company receives calls up till 6pm. Incorrect I called at 4:40pm and was told it was closed on 2 separate occasions. Contacting them through email is slow too.
The required car device causes the alarm of my new car to go off when I lock it and they haven't responded to my support ticket in over a week.
Haven't had to use file a claim or call customer service yet which is good, but the app and company can be better. They say you can't manually pay because you have to wait until the end of the current cycle to pay the total because it varies. Yes the milage will vary but the base rate does not. They should allow you to pay that anytime in that month's cycle since it's a constant amount. Would make things easier for us living on a budget to pay when we can as long as it's not late.
The app does not show the last recorded mileage on your car which you sometimes need. It also doesn't let you clear error codes so even after you fix the problem you need to unplug it from your car and plug another code reader in to clear them. It would be so easy for the app developers to put a clear error codes button in there. I don't know why they don't. Finally there is no way to set the gas prices. When it sees you're at a gas station it should prompt you to enter the price you paid.
Do not recommend . It is definitely a bait and switch situation. When I initially started the rate was great! immediately after the first 6 month period ended my rate was increased heavily. The rate increased so much it almost amounts to as much as you would normally pay for car insurance. The worst part is because of this you have to watch how much you drive even though your already a low mileage driver. They also do not offer 25,000/50,000 coverage so you may have to buy too much insurance.
Great insurance, app works fine. With good driving records, we were paying $2200/ year. That was supposedly a great discount from other companies. Now using last year's numbers we would be paying about $1100 . With the shelter in place, thus fewer miles, we will be way under that estimate. Now I can see the details of our trips and costs day by day. When one of our cars was rear-ended, MM went to bat for us to collect from Progressive, the other driver's insurance. We are winning all around.
I like it. The app is good and tell you when to check sensor. They make the policy to fit me.
I can't believe the savings! I'm lovin it! Customer service is the absolute best. I've used road-side assistance and the experience was so very excellent. I have lower deductibles and higher limits than my previous insurance company. My monthly bill is something I look forward to and I'm never disappointed. I've had friends and family get a quote and every single one of them have seen a huge discount compared to their existing insurance companies. I recommend you get a quote today!
I am saving a great deal of money with Metromile. If my car is stolen or if I can't find it in a huge parking lot the app will locate my car for me. However Metromile used to open a live. chat session. Not anymore.. I can't find my proof of insurance. Would be nice if it were mailed to me. ☆☆☆☆☆
Been using Metromile for over 4 years. Saved $200 a month when I switched then. Just got a quote from Progressive for $405/month which is more than double. Love the app, the service, and most importantly the extra $$$ in my wallet every month! My family has 3 cars and we drive under 10k a year per car. Pay per mile is a great fit for us. Also had a claim last year (not my fault) and they had a check for $42k in my hand in under 2 weeks because the vehicle was considered totalled.
The app is actually ok. The insurance is good until you need to make a claim. They took 2.5 weeks and dozens of photos from the mechanic to approve parts. Adjuster doesn't pick up the phone, has been on vacation twice this week and answered my email rudely. My experience with service was no good so I canceled my policy after this claim.
I've only haf this for a few months, so so far so good. i wqs having some issues getting my insurance validated because of stupid DMV issues but Metromile was super chill and understanding about it. The rates are still low, but will see if thing change as other people have suggested. Will update as things go along. All in all, better experience than regular insurance (so far...)!
the app doesn't work. I says that it's not receiving signal and charing me 150miles day! I rarely drive my vehicle. At first they just charged me a descent base rate with millage which was fair. But now even when I turn the vehicle, and get the device to work. Metromile claim that they aren't receiving signal. Over 30min on the phone and no one answers to get things resolved. They once sent a shady mechanic that couldn't jump start my vehicle, which was a total scam. Be careful!
Before joining I read the reviews, as one does, and decided Metromile might be a good fit for me. I've been with them for over a year now and have had only positive experiences. I like that I'm saving money (more than $20.00/per month average) and I appreciate that my deductible is $250.00 less than it was with my previous car insurance that I'd been with for over a decade. I highly recommend Metromile!
Company eh; App garbage. The readers are inconsistent and they're weird about garaging. They keep wanting to garage my car at my work despite explaining that I don't live where I work and I work a lot of overtime which is why my vehicle is there most of the time. I really think that they need to use more common sense. The app is a dumpster fire. It never works, it doesn't tell you where your car is, it takes forever to load
