Metronome: Tempo

Featured by Apple as "New and Noteworthy" and "Staff Favorite".
Tempo is the premier mobile metronome app. It is used daily by performing artists for their gigs, teachers in their lessons, students for their practices and even golfers and bodybuilders in their training.

Tempo gives you the features you need without sacrificing usability. Its engine is written from the ground up for high accuracy and stability. Over that is wrapped an attractive and comprehensive single-screen interface. Flashing LEDs also serve as buttons to customize beats, enabling the creation of complex rhythms. Save your configurations as songs in setlists and share them with friends, including those using iOS devices.

Features:

- 30 different time signatures: 1-13/2, 1-13/4, 3/8, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8
- 6 rhythm patterns for simple meters and 3 for compound meters
- Works in both portrait and landscape
- Dark and Light interface themes
- Visual feedback in the form of pulsating LEDs
- Customize accents or turn beats off to create more complex rhythms
- Tap tempo function
- Metronome tempo ranges from 10 to 400
- 12 sounds sets, including one optimized for live drumming click tracks
- Store presets in multiple setlists
- Share and backup setlists
- Setlists data file compatible with Tempo for iOS
- Multi-tasking support; playback continues outside of app
- Control setlists, tempo and playback with AirTurn Bluetooth controllers

I've recently switched to Android from iOS and was happy to see this app here as well. But unfortunately it's missing some fairly critical features around playlists. For starters, why can't I search for songs? It seems like a massive miss to exclude this feature. Also, why can't I add songs to a playlist from other playlists? More than willing to drop 5 stars for those features.

Updates over the past few years have lost "full-screen flash," which I need for silent metronome during live performance. Used to LOVE this app.. can't use it anymore. I'm a professional pianist, make my living accompanying. I used this app happily for years until it's best creatures started disappearing. The lost "full-screen flash" was even in dark mode.. used to be wonderful. Recent updates have also lost the capability of quickly toggling between sound vs mute by tapping the beat links.

The app works perfectly fine but there is one big difference between this app and the same app on the apple app store that loses 3 stars. The problem is that there is no option to make the screen flash with the metronome. If this feature is added then I will give 5 stars.

Missing some Odd Time Signatures I wanted to make a preset to practice to some 7/8, 3/16 and other unusual things, but it was not possible. Had to uninstall, because that is what I'm studying right now. Otherwise, the app usage is great. Hope you implement a custom time signature feature.

Please increase the font size! The new version features a new font that is finer, thinner and harder to read. The old version font was perfect. Perhaps under "settings" you could introduce different font options for those like me who need glasses!

What the hell happened to the 'analog' sound?! The sample now clips at the end! Been perfect for years, great tempo app, but now that sample is unusable. Please sort! Thanks. Edit.. Bug fixed, quick support.

Easy to use set lists. Would love to be able to set song length in Gig mode to have click automatically end. Otherwise, great app on phone and Chromebook! I'm more confident playing and my band sounds tighter as we've used the click.

Giving this app 1 star review solely because I have a support issue associated with importing a setlist, and I've reported it twice on the main helpsite and once directly to the developer by email and received not a jot of assistance. If your sharing functionality doesn't work, it's not what its supposed to be. If I can't collaborate with band colleagues I'm not interested - and yes, I did pay for it. If the support people deign to contact me, I'll work with you - but I'm expecting to grow old waiting.

Since latest update, compound meters don't subdivide correctly. For example, in 6/8 time it says the dotted quarter gets the beat which is fine but the tempo will be played like the eighth note gets the beat so it's super slow.

I downloaded this for the tempo automator. It would be great to have a feature where you could increase tempo by a percentage instead of a fixed value, because BPM is a relative measurement and a fixed increase adds less speed each time you iterate.

The only problem is, when you increase the tempo it will back to start. That's the problem when your in a gig if increase the tempo, you may lose on the click. I hope you will change this problem..

Good app. Would be great if you could add quaver beats per minute for time signatures such as 3/8, otherwise currently I'm having to do a lot of math changing the BPM to fit the right speed.

Terribly inaccurate tap tempo. When triggering it there's always a delay before it starts, making timing very difficult. Total garage in my opinion.

My producer uses this app a lot so I thought I'd try it. It has already proven it's worth to me. This matches the metronome in Logic Pro so I'm a very happy camper.

The basic 4/4 metronome is off. Sounds good until the end of the loop and it cuts it short. I like the app otherwise. Please fix!

As I increased the tempo from bpm from60 to 80 follow by 100 in 4/4 in crotchet mode. I find that the tempo is inconsistent, sometimes it is fast, sometimes it is slow. Can you investigate on this?

Amazing, lots of features that enhance your experience. Very customizable. I like the Automator and Tracker.

Great app, use it all the time, the only disappointment which is why it gets 4 stars not 5 is that you can't pan the output like you can on the iphone version of the app. Otherwise i would use this all the time for gigs etc.

I've been using this for 10-11 years on my ipad and my Android. I love that I can create set lists. Sometimes it can be a bit clunky, but when you get used to it, it just works 🎉

After the latest update, the mute/volume button doesn't seem to work properly? When I press mute, first time I press play â–¶ there is no sound. After I press stop, and press play again, the click sound comes back on, even though the volume is muted!

Needs more themes and seems to keep running when I close it which makes me wonder if the process is still running. Otherwise great does everything i want had it on Apple now have it on Android.

Straight ahead. Missing items others have but don't feel an inherent problem with the clock. Seems stable.

Ale. B. Dec 8, 2018

So far, all great, but as far as I can tell there's no way to make a song with multiple metre changes, pls add this, dream theater is impossible to play without

Mag. B. Oct 13, 2018

I find this a great a straight forward metronome app; does the developer maybe consider expanding towards wearables? Would love to be able to put it on my Samsung gear sport as well.

Jef. S. Jul 16, 2019

No backup to new devices. All the work done in the app is gone because it did not back up files.

Jam. S. Jan 16, 2019

I use this every day, and bought a galaxy watch in the hopes of controlling it frlmy watch. No app compatible. Very disappointed...

This app is lovely. I'm a music teacher, and I find myself pulling this out more than I ever would have imagined. I highly, highly recommend.
