Easy to use app with good home screen widget but lacks detailed rural forecasts and wind speeds are not accurate. Etc. Good if you live right next to the AWS though. Eg. Invercargill airport.
Great when it works, but ever since the ad splash screen was added, it's just as likely to hang on the splash screen as it is to load the continue button and proceed. How desperate are you guys for ad revenue that you added an ad screen that bricks your app half the time?
Too many ads. A full page ad when you load the app, and then ads every second section on the main view. Distracts from the content. Surely the quantity can be reduced?
Mostly good experience, like with most apps you always have to take it with a pinch of salt. However it would be great to have your local traffic cam in the dashboard area. I live in south Auckland so the Jill road manukau camera are much more important to me than the ones in North Shore!
nope.... Goodbye metsevice. this app is around 80% wrong for the last year, 3 day forcast changes 5 times before the 3rd day is apon you, so lets not talk about the 10 days. Weather always changes around 7pm, like some on watches the news weather and then changes it closer to what we really experience. Lots of talk about rain, but not one drop over a 2 week period.
Good, but originally paid for the ad-free version, but now only have the option for the ad-filled version. Would be nice to see a basic daily isobar map.
Would give it 5 stars if two things could happen...first, add the ability to view in landscape mode, and second, please allow for ability to set temps and other measurements to degrees °F and inches, etc. Thanks
Great app, but lacks the detail you can get from the website, so better off going to the website. Maps in particular lacks anything other than rain radar.
Nice app beside from the ads we can't pay to remove. The widgets work well for a while but then go blank and constantly try to refresh until you open the app.
Good when it's working as intended. But when the widget just sits on loading and never actually does anything it's a bit useless. Update: 11.1.22, widget STILL sits on loading for hours and hours when you try to update it
Too many ads, kills the user experience. Max temperature at top of app page is never the same as the hour by hour lower down, why don't they match? Need barometric pressure and trend. Pretty useless weather forecasting.
Too many ads and no way to pay to remove them. They didn't used to be so bad, but very recently the ads are showing up as you scroll down the weather into for an area, which totally ruins the experience. I understood the need for some advertising when you open the app, but even that has changed and no longer dismisses automatically, so you have to tap the continue button. This app is no longer usable for me so I have uninstalled it.
The service that metservice supplies is fantastic, by far the most accurate and detailed weather reporting in New Zealand. However, this app is by far the least user friendly app on my phone because of the fullscreen advert that loads on startup. I would happily pay for an ad-free version of this app just so I don't have to deal with irritating aggressive marketing. Have some self respect.
Really average. This is supposed to be a govt funded service and yet they feel the need to have full screen ads you have to wait and click past. I suspect this is what breaks the bundled widget after only an hour or so of inactivity, it stops working until you open the app and click past the ad again. Also, the widget doesn't open the app like you would expect it to when you tap it. The ui update recently makes it harder to read with much smaller text and graphics with excessive white space.
Unable to open app fully. Stuck with fire info on half screen. Uninstaller and reinstalled. No change. App is unusable
Graphically appealing, bad UX. Showing data of such a delicate climate, it goes against easy navigation and general weather overview. GPS locating often doesn't work at all, other apps don't have a problem. Information is scattered, something graphical, lot of it just plain text. Pain to use when moving around NZ a lot. Only reliable weather info though.
Too many ads that take up mostbof the screen making it hard to actually see the forecast. Won't be using this app anymore.
The ads are so intrusive as to make this app unpleasant to use and no way to pay to avoid them. No barometric maps for 5 day forecast.
It used to be much faster to load the rain radar and 3&5 day maps. Now they take a long time to display the video.
It's annoying enough to have paid for this app at one point and to now be subject to ads but the pre-load interruptive ad is terrible! If you want to quickly open the app to check the forecast you're forced to wait for an ad to load before seeing any useful information. The app itself is quite good but the decision to include the on load interruptive ad makes it practically useless...
It not only tells you the weather it takes over your browser (chrome) and displays webpages that you don't want. It also displays full page adds which interrupt your viewing. It is totally invasive software that I no longer want. Maybe when the last user uninstalls they might wake up.
Great app, great and responsive with all information displayed in a intuitive way.
Easy app, I use it daily. It's helpful for staying on top of the day-to-day changeable conditions of Tāmaki Makaurau. I wish the pollen and UV features of the website were optional snippets on the app, that's the only improvement I can think of. Oh and the drag and drop of the snippets took a few tries. Could be me though. I don't find the ads as intrusive as other reviewers, at least compared to other apps.
