The app is overall loading faster with this update but the App does not open articles reliably or most of the time, not an improvement from the previous version which generally worked. Also you receive alerts for an article then click on the alert and it does not open to the article and sometimes you can't even find the article when it opens. I would fix this and fix it fast.

I like the Miami Herald, & as I've been away, I've really appreciated the app (before the latest update) to stay tuned in to Miami/FL news, though I'm holding off on subscribing for financial reasons. So I do get locked out of most articles. But I used to get news notifications & although I usually can't see the whole headline in the notifications, if I clicked on it, then it would go to the app & show the whole headline. But not anymore with the new update, & I wish it would change back.

Update: 11/16/21 it's been over 6 months since the new app launched and they still haven't managed to fix basic fundamental errors with it. #1 It constantly freezes and crashes #2 Push notication links do not load articles successfully. #3 the ad server causes blank white article screens to load on top of actual articles in the middle of reading them. This is ridiculous if you can't fix the problems maybe you should just go back to the old app, it was slow but at least it worked.

The new version introduced several weeks ago make reading the eHerald on my Android phone and tablet nearly impossible. After log in, the two choices are either view or download the current days paper. Upon selecting download nothing happens. Selecting view brings up the full page format, but it's impossible to zoom into a particular article to read the first few sentences without it freezing up. The onlg escape is to backspace, which takes you back to the view or download page. Uuggh...

Basic functionality is nonexistent. How this is considered a full featured app is beyond me. There's no search feature available at all and you're held at the mercy the latest articles posted in few sections provided. Even the share features built in are outdated and don't follow the current basics of the current Android ecosystem. Would not recommend at all.

It never works. Now I can't even access the news. It gets stuck on the intial screen. The previous app didn't open when I clicked on articles and resulted in having trouble getting to paid subscription articles even though I am a paid subscriber. Giving it 2 starts because I really like the herald and support local journalism so hoping this gets fixed.

The app is super glitchy and doesn't open after you use it. When I wrote to customer service their response was to uninstall it and reinstall it again. I'm on my 4th install already and they still haven't fixed the issue. I'm just starting to read the paper online through my web portal instead of the ridiculous app.

Very upset digital subscriber here. This app hasn't opened even once for months! Same error msg every time: "The app encountered a problem while trying to retrieve information from the server. It may be an error or a misconfiguation." Try again does nothing; neither does deleting and reinstalling app. FIX ASAP

2 to 3 months ago I started getting the error message below when trying to open the app. I have rebooted and uninstalled and installed the app several times. Same results. Using Samsung Note 8 "The App encountered a problem while trying to retrieve information from the server..."

After the latest update, the app is worthless. Takes too long to load and when it does load and you open anything the screen goes blank. Test updates before going live. P.S. Already uninstalled and reinstalled, used different phones, and is the app the one that has the problem.

The new eEdition is a mess. It is constantly freezing and if bugs are not fixed soon I will have no choice but to cancel my subscription. The 2021 new app is even worse! It is ridiculously slow and not friendly at all.

Please take away some of the ads. I pay for digital subscription and there are ads in everywhere in this app, even banner with ads. Edit. Cancelling my subscription and moving to another newspaper. I can't deal with all the ads in your app. Good luck.

(edit) new update is better for setting your interests but takes forever to load. Also when sharing stories social media is glitchy. Example sharing to FB includes the image from the story only. I'm mostly on my local wifi. So not a cell service issue on the loading.

I subscribed through the app and it shows as subscribed in google but the app keeps saying that "subscribers only" when I try to read articles. I tried to re-subscribe and it says you are already subscribed but still won't let me read subscription only stories. It refuses to let me open an account, refuses to sync with my google account and customer service has not responded to any of my requests for help.

installed it and it was an improvement over old one. then it crashed. uninstalled, reinstalled it and i get only blank page, uninstalled and reinstalled and just blank page. this is worse than the previous mess. and same thing with el nuevo app. What's going on????

Doesn't load or immediately goes to a black screen and won't "leave". There's no navigation issue if it can't move. The auto reply that they're 'sorry I'm having the problem', while automatic, is irksome.

Whenever I get an interesting article notification and click it, all it does is take me to the homepage of the app. The article that was on the notification isn't even the top one on the homepage making me just want to close the app.

I purchased a yearly subscription through Google, I am unable to access the app. It wants me to register my account. Whenever I try to do just that the app would just time out. What amazing to me is how all these newspapers are struggling to stay afloat financially and whenever they received a new customer they do nothing to help them. Miami Herald you are a disgrace!!

Wish I could give zero stars. This 'update' is not functional. No longer can I read an article from my phone, as the app doesn't load. I believe investigative journalism should be rewarded, and that writers need to be paid their due, thus I am a subscriber. Please, oh please, let me read what they're writing!

You need to fix some very big bugs. 1l)Like allowing subscribers to remain signed in instead of for EACH article, yes, I mean each article! Have subs to 4 major MS newspapers. All the others, sign in once n click save, and login is saved. 2) Honor yr stated policy of 'no paywall for Covid-19" articles. I know that you require a sub for this because, you make me sign in for every single thing. 3) Far too many ads for paid subs, which break up stories with lots of spam.

App is a sick joke. All I get is the splash screen when opening the app and all I get is BS and a runaround from customer service when I try to get any answers. Solution offered by the app developer has been tried and does not work.

Hey - the new version of the app is extremely slow to load and you are not deep linking the push notification to the article. Can you fix that please, so it's easier to get to the good content you have?

New app is difficult. The older version was At least readable. Just about to cancel a subscription than I have paid for many years. Very frustrated

Crashes frequently, have to restart at beginning and scroll thru to where left off.

For the past several days, app will not open. I reinstalled it today with the latest update. Still freezes. App is worse than useless.

Latest update broke the app on my Pixel 4 XL. Can't get past the Choose Topics page. Still getting push notification for stories but can't see them because of this issue. 1 star till fixed.
