Barely tells you how to set the app up and you have to do extensive research on your phone on how to get in to developer mode and then find where your phone has the usb midi setting at , 3 stars because I was expecting an easy plug and play for almost $4 instead I had to dive in to several chrome searches on my own to figure out how to get it to work because the tutorial video is basically false information and way too short without explaining really anything. Works great when you get there tho
So far this app seems almost perfect for my needs, with the only drawback being that it seems unable to also receive values. I wanted it to not only control but also to "be controlled". For example, if I use the app to change a slider on a software running on my computer, when I drag the slider on the app, the slider on the software follows it. What I also wanted, though, is for the slider on the app to also move if I drag the slider on the software, similar to those physical MIDI controllers with motorized faders. I guess it shouldn't be hard to implement (if it's not already in there), and I've seen other apps with this functionality. And if it was able to connect wirelessly, say for example using rtpMIDI, it would help a lot.
The app works ok, meaning, that it sends Midi signals to your pc. It uses the android-midi protocol, so there's no need for using any additional software on pc. What I have a problem with, is the interface/layout. I wanted to mostly use the sliders. There are two slider modes - horizontal and vertical. one has sloders too thick, the other too thin, and there is no way to change that. Since the app lacks a full screen mode, the top bar and some buttons waste space, which is so valuable here.
Tried it with Reaper and LMMS and works on both. It is a very lightweight and responsive app (no latency issues) and it has a simple and functional interface. It can certainly be improved (I think it would be cool to be able to switch into portrait mode for the pads and to have a mode for velocity sensing via touch position on keys/pads), but its awesome as it is now.
I do like this product, it is very useful, but I do have some issues and suggestions. 1. When selecting through the different modes, keyboard, notes, and sliders, it scrolls through them instead of going to the one I click on, same with the color choices. Nothing too bad, just a little annoying. 2. On the UI for the notes board, the words between the - and + get cut off, so I am unsure of what I'm selecting exactly. 3. This is just a suggestion, but I wouldn't mind having a custom option where I could select a mixture of notes and sliders and have them next to one another. Have keyboard, notes, sliders, and "edit/ custom mode," just an idea. I use this program with Adobe's Character Animator, and being able to trigger animations while using the sliders to change the x and y positions would be handy. Just a suggestion though. I do hope this program does evolve and becomes more streamlined. I do find it quite useful, but a little cumbersome to use properly.
This had potential to be the best MIDI controller in the store but it seems it's not being actively developed. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to buy a hardware controller and doesn't mind some limitations such as small text sizes on buttons, a limited colour palette and inability to rearrange buttons from the order of their creation. Apart from these issues, the app functions wonderfully for any MIDI CCs you care to set up.
Pretty good design, intuitive. Midi setup very easy. But custom buttons can only send CC messages, it's missing the ability to create a button that sends a program change. Also the UI for picking from the 128 different CC message types is painful, should just be a dropdown but instead you have to hit forward/back a zillion times.
What an amazing app! It literally makes life for a beginner in the music industry sooo much easier... You can connect your phone with almost any music software, and create buttons for any action in these programs you can think of. Amazing! It is worth every penny, I would easily pay 5€+ for this app as well if needed!
Great job on the app! It's nice to have something like this for Android. I have two suggestions for future updates. One, the ability to make the sliders narrower for certain instances. Two, to have the slider values fill in reverse when using them as drawbars for virtual organs. Thanks so much for making this available! UPDATE: I had this controlling my Roland SH-32. Worked flawlessly. Original 4 star rating now 5. Congratulations on a very useful app!
I have been looking for a good, modern design MIDI Controller App like this, and finally, it's released! The UI is great! I think the slide mode can add a knob mode in addition to the landscape and vertical modes. And I think the fader in landscape mode is a bit too wide.
Works pretty alright for me, simple but real easy to connect to your music software program. I dunno, maybe having something like a 'Bluetooth connection option; that'd be pretty awesome. However this being said, still I rather enjoy using the app! Absolutely serves its purpose, for sure.
Pretty Good. But really lacks a lot of things. 1. Rotary Knobs - Circle knobs that can be midi mapped. 2. Adjustable Size on all mapped objects. Including adjustable keyboard etc. 3. Give us a lot of options for mapping like different knob options and where we can resize it or reposition it wherever or however we want.
Clean looking app, but unfortunately not enough control of the midi message customisation. Lacks the ability to chain messages, can not rearrange buttons, input is difficult having to us a picker wheel. Wanted to love it, but it just won't work for what I need.
Very useful app that allows your phone to be used as a midi keyboard, launchpad, or slider panel. The developer is active, willing to take feedback, and motivated to improve the already great app. Good job.
Pls add a feature, so u can change the size of each button or fader u add, because its a little bit tiny for my big hands, and i often touch aside, and it dont snaps in :) but great app, 5/5 deserved, just for transfering the idea!! Love you!
Fantastic app and easy to use! It would also be very helpful to be able to lock scroll so the keyboard and pads don't move and cut off the note when playing.
I've been having trouble trying to find a midi controller app that works with my Hardware and this one seems to work pretty well. Would love to have the option to move the pads around
The only one that works straight without a computer. No issues. Please include a XY pad with different selectable CC for each axis. I'd buy it yesterday.
very basic. would be nice if you could set the number of keys on screen, appegeator, and sequence.
Really easy to use. I love the simplicity and being able to edit layouts directly in the app.
Works great with my Pixel 2. doesn't work with Chrome OS with ART on my Pixel Slate. Compatibility with Pixel Slate would be nice!
The larger sliders are to close to end of screen impossible to set slider to zero pleas put some margins to the slider. Other wise cool
tried connecting as shown in the video but my phone doesnt have that option :'o so i couldnt use it..... nice interface though guys..... maybe next time :')
My Midi Keyboard unfortunately broke and i had no time to buy a new one because i was really in a hurry and in the meantime this app solved all my problems! 5/5
Is awesome! Keyboard is alright, the pads and knobs are really awesome. If you know to set your automation this really is awesome.
Updated review from 4 to 1 star. No updates in over a year and it's unusable with the Pixel 4A.
Poorly documented. Could not work out how to send a program change message.
perfect for what i need and it does what it says thanks keep up the great work 👍😊 p.s. that tutorial help tremendously 😍
works perfectly as a controller for physical midi devices. great app
Good for beginners. Limited MIDI functionality. UI lacks polish. For example naming a button "mute 1" puts the words on one line but naming it "mute 2" puts it on 2 lines. Many small issues like this add up to a lack of polish and shows a lack of attention to detail. Also setting UI up in general is a very clumsy process. This type of app is all about UI. If it's lacking in that? Well...
