How the expletive is this rated a 4.5? The app literally can only read files from one folder (ie, cannot build a library), and the best part? You don't get to direct it to the right folder! It just apparently guesses like 10 folders it thinks you're most likely to have midi files in. So if you want to use this app, screw your meticulously curated file structure. You have to move all your midis to one of the app's pre-approved folders or it will not be usable.

Over all, I think it's a good midi player. I was able to use third party soundfonts no problem. My one comlaint is that if I am playing a file that is down several levels from the root directory, I have to navigate back to the root directory before I can access the menu and change the soundfont, for instance. For that, I'm not willing to pay for the $3 upgrade.

Pretty good app. I still can't figure out how to point it to my micro SD card as the "MIDI root", but that's no fault of the developer. Otherwise, configuration was quite simple. I particularly appreciate the built-in ability to download a few SoundFonts. It saves some trouble, while still allowing one to use any SoundFont he desires.

Best MIDI player I've ever used on Android! It's lots of fun trying out a variety of SoundFonts on a single song and hearing all sorts of different results! I also appreciate the inclusion of ADLMIDI; it's like a portable SoundBlaster! The only major thing it's missing is a graph-like visualisation, like the one in DOSmid, where we can "see" the MIDIs being played in real-time. I'd also suggest a Tizen version for Samsung watches. As far as I can tell, they currently have no way of playing (or even loading) MIDI files. If anyone can fix that, Volcano Mobile surely can.

Like others, there seems to be no Open File setting to actually SEE the files. I have around 700,000 midi files on a usb stick, and it keeps telling me there are no files on the SD card. I know that ! There IS NO SD CARD.......But I didn't ask it to read the SD card. I set it (in the settings) to read from my removeable USB drive. Why won't it do this?

It works flawlessly now, even allows switching to the SD card without any hassle. Last issue, and this would push you directly to the top, rivalling most desktop players. Support for Carmack's MUS format. Also, there's a midi file from the sony ericsson sliders, only VLC can play the ringtone files, but not well.

App always stays open (even through reboots) and constantly autoplays the last file loaded, even when not commanded to do so. App seems to be doing things behind the scenes that are neither explained nor wanted. Uninstalled.

Dunno what Ysj is talking about, but I've had no problems running it. Maybe that reviewer's device is faulty and needs an upgrade. I love messing around with the ADLMIDI synthesizer options when listening to my favorite nes tunes. I recommend playing around with that setting until you find a good fit for your midi file.

This is mostly perfect for my use, the only thing missing is the ability to add entire folders to an already-playing queue (as of version 1.6.34 you have to add individual files to the queue if you want files from multiple folders in the queue, which is an arduous task when you have multiple folders to go through since one badly-aimed tap clobbers the entire queue with the folder you're currently browsing)

A good MIDI player. However I miss the option to set the app as default app for MIDI files. It is not offered in the "Open with..." dialog on my Android 7.0 tablet.

Excellent. Plays when minimized, allows EQ and custom sound fonts. I figured out how to scrub thru songs- you click on the now-playing song at bottom. I wish it were less tedious to go back and forth to tweak the settings (without navigating away).

Well it is not like there are any alternatives for MIDI playback on this platform. I just wish it had a search function. Transferred 32 megabytes of midi files to this device from my computer, numbering over a thousand.

4/5. Works fine with my MIDI and soundfonts. Navigation is directory based, very easy to use. 5 stars if there's loop and random play function, which I think are essential for a player app. Waiting for update.

Works really well, although I bought premium... I feel like it was a complete waste because I thought with equalizer that I could get pitch tuning and mixer(please add) ... Despite that, still happy with the quality and output of the audio. Thank you very much Volcano sir for this gift :)

I love it! Except sometimes it decides to go on a pausing spree. I play music and it just keeps pausing, and pausing, and pausing, every time I press the play button! At least it has soundfont support!

The process for actually finding the file has too many steps if you store midis in multiple folders(-1 star), otherwise, the app does exactly as advertised, with decent quality sound(+5 stars). (Total= 4 stars)

For those who have obscure PC game midis (e.g. XCOM, Warcraft 2) and want to play them. Edit: XCOM midi: search for "ufo enemy unknown midi" and "terror from the deep midi" and go to the mirsoft website. I made an error and typed XCOM, which may confuse people familiar with X-COM, the name used by MicroProse in the 1990s. To further confusion, the first X-COM game, X-COM: UFO Defense (1994), didn't have "X-COM" in the title outside of North America. It was known as UFO: Enemy Unknown.

Works just as it says it would. I used to use it alot for music, but now that I'm moving on, I'd recommend this to anyone who loves midi music and looking for a program that can use custom soundfonts.

I really like Noteflight Premium. It has more instruments than the "free" version... for me, the upgrade was definately worth it! I also like that my scores are stored in the cloud, so I only download the final versions.

Very good app, I am a big fan of the old game Dune of cryo, and this music is the best in midi. Midi Player can download for you several bank of sound very nice to change the atmosphere of the music we are listening. It's working very well.

Does exactly what's on the tin, and does it effectively! -1 for auto-generated thumbnails though. I'd really rather not see the latest shitpost I've downloaded whenever I start playing a MIDI.

CAN IT RUN DOOM?! No, but it can play DOOM Music. Fun Fact: The internal soundfont in this app is the exact same as the soundfont used in the Unity version of TNT: Evilution. I genuinely enjoy the MIDI version of the DOOM, DOOM II, and TNT soundtracks, even outside of the SC-55 soundfont. Samsung Music doesn't give me the luxury to switch soundfonts, so I'm stuck with garbage on that. This? Soundfonts. Emulated Ad-Lib card. Amazing.
