Mighty Mule Smart Control App

Have had 7 frustrating months. Recent update now keeps Android phone logged in. Not an easy, straight forward set up at beginning. Most frustrating, there are two different views of the gate. When you log into the app, it won't tell you the current state of the gate just what it was the last time the app was used. Most times, you have to select to open or close multiple times, may or may not respond and you end up completely unsure of status of gate. Needs MAJOR fix as other reviews report.

As many have said, this ap used to marginally work...had to try 3-4 times before it would work. No, for the last few months it doesn't do anything...just spin and spin while never connecting. Needs an update and fixed or it's worthless.

The app does have it's problems. It's been over 5 months and I have done all they have asked to solve the problem of not showing the last time garage door was opened. Tech said they are aware of the problem and are working on it. REALLY? Over five months now and still not working. Wow! I have called and sent email messages to tech support. They say they will get back but never have. I must say after over 5 months and no results, time to get another tech team.

I paid almost $1000 for this opener with the wireless addon and can rarely get it to work. Auto timing is there but you can't get it to do anything, there's nothing to click and set. I will not buy another mule gate opener, i will also recommend that anyone else to avoid at all cost. I've had gate for 2 years and nothing has changed for updates not the the actual workability of the basic open close feature.

As most say, great when it works (hence 2 stars) but the vast majority of the time it doesn't function, in more ways than one, such as: 1. Getting stuck on login screen for long amounts of time. 2. Tapping the button 6-10 times before getting a result. 3. Consistently "Losing Wi-Fi Connection" to gate. And more. Research well before commiting to this hardware/service for opening your gate(s).

The app used to work at first, but within the last month, it frequently hangs, freezes and even disconnects. The station at home is connected to wifi just fine, but the app cannot seem to communicate with it anymore. Some times there is as much as a 30 second delay between open and close commands. It is ridiculous. The manufacturer also will leave you in the dark or on hold for upwards of 40 mins when trying to call them on the phone. Love the unit, but I hate the app.

Super unreliable, exactly what you don't want to see an app that controls your garage door. Stays stuck on the splash screen quite often. When it does connect , there can be quite a lag before it opens the door. So if you open the door manually while you're waiting you can get surprised by it kicking in and closing the garage door instead. Their Alexa skill is equally poor and unreliable.

I don't think I've seen an app rated so low! It looks like I'm not the only one with problems. I'm using it with 2 MM9545 Garage Door operators. Creating the account went OK but, I can't get it to add a device. It looks like it's working fine but after reconnecting to my normal internet I never see the push notice to Tap to Return to the app. I've tried it with both door operators and same results. Internet signal is good by the door operators. This is taking a lot of time and I paid extra because they were "Smart" openers. If the app doesn't work there's nothing smart about it. I think the door openers are good quality and work well but this app doesn't seem to live up to the name!

Setup was fairly simple. The major issue I'm having is lag. Sometimes when going to open or close the gate, it does nothing. Sometimes it will start to show it's going to operate with the rotating white circle. But then it just stops & shows whatever position it was in. Then randomly later, it operates. Woke up this morning to my gate open because 15 minutes after it closed, it opened again due to me tapping the button in the app twice & it just lagging. Missing other features as well.

Edit: worked great for about 3 weeks now it's back to being the most unreliable app i have Nice app, but doesn't work.... the design is simple and easy to use, however, it is constantly frozen, won't load, it shows there's no power when there is, lags when trying to open, and is generally unreliable (only works 40% of the time) ...if the app worked, it would be nice if there were a widget and if it had a "hold open" function

The app is sluggish with a big lag. You are never sure of the status of your gate for about 10 mins and sometimes not then. Very frustrating and needs fixing! UPDATE... it's even worse now, the app is the only way for us to control the gate from our home, since our gate is a quarter mile away, and it's absolutely useless. Fix it or stop selling the MMS-100 accessory.

This app is frustrating. It sporadically works but generally it takes 2-3 times to get it to open the gate. Sometimes it will not work when you press the button and then open 2 minutes later. The gate is great, but don't buy the optional phone connector because it will drive you crazy. Just connect the garage door opener to this and you will be happier. I think 1 star is generous. I've used this for 4 months now and it's the same experience across 3 different android phones.

Great when it works, but application constantly has to be forced stopped to get it to connect and the wifi device occasionally looses connection to the gate. Completely unreliable as a way to manage your gate. New updated and it has gotten worse. Connects and opens the gate about 10% of the time without needing to force stop the app. Even then it works about 50% of the time

App required dozens of attempts to connect. The login servers always seem to be busy. It drops communication constantly, sitting in the same spot (literally 100yds fro my gate and 20' from WiFi). Update (6 months later): The device stopped working completely. No open/shut or even LEDs. Called support, they sent me a new set. I've been trying for literally 6 hours to get it working, but it will not. Garbage. Update (another month later): can no longer log in to the app at all. Complete Garbage.

Pros: Set up was quick and easy, and the app works to open and close my gate. Response is fairly quick. Cons: I see no option to disable notifications, I really don't need to be notified when I open the gate. Needs to be notification settings. Also not able to set up automatic events. Google assistant integration is terrible. I should be able to open the gate, knowing the status is useless. Wish I could adjust gate open time from app, or enable a party/guest mode to keep the gate open.

App tends to disconnect from time to time... The transition from my mobile network to my home WiFi affects the opening or closing often. At times app doesn't connect at all and boots me out completely and even after I log back in, it still glitches to the point that I would have to call someone who is inside to open the door instead (not cool). Giving it a 3 because when it works fine it is extremely feasible and convenient.

Would give one star but the app does work if you keep pressing the open/close button repeatedly. A real PITA to say the very least to use, but does kinda work. Set-up was surprisingly easy, though this app is not well designed nor well executed. I would buy any other smart gate opener above this one. An Arduino and a WiFi shield or CDMA/ gsm shield would be a far cheaper and perhaps easier solution. I might return this "smart" addition and go that route myself. No option to set-up geo fencing

Oct 2020 - Can't login anymore, so the app is now useless. No notifications anymore. Stopped a while ago. Update: added 2 stars. Based on quick developer response, I made sure I had the latest version (I did). I logged out and back in. (Didn't help.) I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. This brought notifications back. Wish the app could just remember notification settings without having to do this.

It works, but barely. This app is not very well coded and there are lots of bugs. The advertised geofencing and scheduling is in the app, but doesn't have any functionality built into it. The activity logs don't register the events correctly (remote opened instead of the user acount, etc), which can be bad. The company needs to recognize that these systems are being bought by farmers, ranchers, and people that need this functionality to work without any issues or bugs.

Very badly designed app. Needs a lot more work. Some buttons don't work and not as good as it could be.

Absolute waste of money. The wifi module shows it's connected to the internet (green light) and my gate works with the remotes as expected, but the app is terrible. It rarely notifies of activity, hardly ever shows open or closed correctly, and almost never actually controls the gate. It was good for about a week, recently, but now it's back to being total junk again. I don't think Mighty Mule knows how to host a web service that actually works for its paying customers.

Gate opener is great, especially after working out balance issues with the gate, not the opener. However, the app is horrible! It always seems to work when I'm directly in front of the gate but when I need it most, while away, it works maybe 60% of the time. I have people working on my house right now and i thought being able to let them in an out while I'm away would be great. I have a key pad but i like to talk to people when they come and go. Unfortunately the app isn't consistent enough.

Still very basic and intermittent.. i think a 6yr old could create a better app. Last update was almost a year ago... why? You all give up? Lately nothing but crashes after recent update. Will not open. If it does open, there's always a connectivity problem.. not sure bout alotnof people, but I don't like spending 130 bucks on somthing that work 1/4 of the time .. come on tech people, get this right ..

Good idea, bad follow through. I don't want to enter my login info and password while I'm driving to my property. How about fix the auto save. Connectivity is constantly in and out for no reason. Becoming so unreliable I may just trash the whole thing.

No native support for Google assistant - at least not that I can find easily - even though it says it is supported. There is no way to customize the notifications - for example, I don't want to be notified each time if the door opens, but I would like to know when it is open for more than 15 minutes. Also, notifications don't work properly - I have all set to off, but still get notified when the light turns on/ off.

Update 5 Nov 2020: Found a workaround. Installed an old router & set it to 2.4ghz. App connected as expected! 🙂 Also had to disable Maytag washer & dryer as MM tries to connect to their network. 🤨 MM please update to work with mesh networks. 🙏 Update 2 Oct 2020: Wow app actually connected & opened the gate, then went offline after 20 minutes once again. 🤬 App is so frustrating. Continually looses wifi. Half the time the app freezes on launch. This app would be great if it was reliable! 😡
