MikroWave

Getting to the point straightaway: MikroWave is in essence a "groovebox", a self-contained instrument where multiple sound sources (synthesizers and a single drum machine) are controlled by a sequencer with parameter and effects controls, to allow a musician to rapidly construct and control a pattern-based musical sequence.
If this description boggles you, having a look at the video demonstration should clear things up.

Well suited for quickly sketching out your musical ideas when on the move, patterns can be created in the sixteen step sequencer, with no limit to the amount of bars your composition requires. Apart from the basic waveforms there is also a secondary oscillator which can be routed to different targets for harmonically enriching your initial sounds. You can shape the basic palette from friendly cheesy 80s trumpets via stuttering robots to totally unlistene-able sonic mayhem. If anything, you can sure annoy people on the bus.

For further improvisation there is a multi-touch keyboard allowing you to play along with the sequencer for quickly testing new ideas. When you're pressed for time, you can save a song in progress and return to it later for finishing your idea, or plainly reliving your initial enthusiasm when creating that bubbly, acid bassline over that funky beat you had a brilliant destination for.

Apart from working from your mobile device, your songs can be exported in WAV format, uploaded to SoundCloud for direct sharing, or you can export your songs as MIDI data so you can continue work on your desktop computer / other hardware devices. You can also record a live performance directly onto your device.

MikroWave is actively being updated, so keep your eyes peeled for notifications to be sure you're getting all the latest features. You may also aid development by leaving suggestions and sharing your ideas on the website.

Just to be clear: MikroWave doesn't rely on samples for sound generation, but actually synthesizes sound. For best performance your device should run Jelly Bean (Android 4.2) though it should run fine on any recent device.

Required permissions:Read / write from external storage / SD card. This is used for exporting your songs as audio / MIDI and for recording audio output.

Internet access. Used for both accessing the online manual and for direct uploading of your material to SoundCloud.

When in doubt, MikroWave is also available as a FREE version, note that saving of songs is disabled in this version.

This app looks and seems awesome. It's a shame that it seems to be abandoned.. the UI on my galaxy S9 (not exactly the newest phone on the market) is cut off at the bottom and I cannot get it to fit the screen. If I could I would use this app literally all the time.

You will have some fun with this app. It's solid enough and creates some interesting sounds. Looks very nice and haven't encountered an problems. What does let it down though, is the sound of the drums. Especially the bass drum, it's not at all strong enough

Unusable on oneplus 7 pro. Keyboard is cut off and touchscreen is heavily offset. Things are covered by UI and frankly, the font is illegible in many cases.

A gem of an app for the tinkerers of sound on the go. Lots to offer for such a small app. The effects are immediate and responsive. So is the developer in responding to queries. 🙂. Carry on dev. Looking forward to many more projects from you.

On my one plus 6 the menus were cut off, couldn't read some labels and turning down values was difficult.

ONE OF BEST MUSIC PRODUCTION APPS I'VE SEEN SO FAR.

I enjoy it so far, only gripe is that as it stands there is no Live Link compatibility, wand the source code is free. This would personally help me alot, and I'm sure many others.

Lots of control for a mobile app, but the ability to sequence multiple octaves is sorely needed

I love this app

More basic than what I'm used to, but great value none the less. MIDI would be a welcome addition. Worth 5 stars.

Hi, I like this app. Drums are loud enough to be use able now. There are lots of variations of sounds you can get from this. The sounds it makes remind me of the first Korg Electribe ES-1. Thanks. God bless. Aaron

Android musicmaking applications are so few. This is the real thing! It certainly needs some work, But the Ui is spectacular. Once this has midi my portable DAW can go ANDROID!

Pretty cool. It's easy to throw down a little beat and go

Ian. L. Sep 15, 2013

Ok at times when I go back to create some cool music beat why does it stop and cuts off right when I'm playing or adjusting? And one person is right when saving why is the music that you work is not there after when you got through saving it? And how come I can not share a little sample music on facebook or can it be save to my phone if I should erase this app? Need more updates on this app and even better more professional when put it together really sounds like elemetry stuff like video game music.

As a dedicated hardware synth user I've found Mikrowave great for nailing motif & rhythm sequence ideas when travelling. Back in the lab these noodles come to life when played back on my Blofeld or Proteus 2K via Logic. There are other apps which export MIDI but this one is really great to write with & has found a home with it's hardware siblings in my studio. We'll worth the $ for seasoned pros & curious rookies alike :-)

Well worth one dollar, I have sooo much fun with this. Just one issue, that when I loop any measure after the 1st one it cuts out on the first count. Never does that on the 1st measure. And add some different drum kits! Great app!

Great app for ideas on the fly. A must for those delving into the concept of MIDI without being bamboozled. I am with u on this and look forward to future development. Best 0.56p I've spent on here. Congratulations.

This developer is very proactive regarding responding to emails, adding features and fixing bugs. This is an excellent app for synth geeks.

Very fun and addicting, and finally something to take my attention away from FastTracker II running in the DosBox emulator! Nice app, nice price, and a free version to try before you buy. Thanks for this app!
