MileagePlus X

I've been using this app since around 2006 and it's been great up until the last 2 months and now every purchase fails. I've uninstalled it and check for updates and add a new credit card and even change my phone and it still doesn't work. I have contacted United MileagePlus as requested in the error message 3 times and not gotten a response as to why this is not working.

I'll give 2 ★ bc the app has a decent UI. Otherwise I'm not sold on the program itself. There are maybe 4-5 stores I'd shop at. You can't search for hotels like you can on the United app and I will not use 3rd party booking apps. Quite frankly most the milage rewards seem low. 🤷

My experience so far has been very bad with this app. It never updates the miles I could have earned by shopping through it. So beyond frustrated. Also not good customer service. There is no one to help. What kind of a rue is this??

What happened!?! All I get when trying to log into this app is a loop error that keeps telling me I need to login. I had Uninstalled, reinstalled, logged out etc, and now just get this error.

Very buggy: purchasing gift cards often fails, also displays a blank screen occasionally when trying to view gift cards. Incredibly frustrating app.

First time trying to buy something and keep getting an error saying your contact customer service for assistance.

The app was working great for a long time and was really helping me bump-up my miles. Plus it was also a great tool to use some of your miles to purchase gift cards for everyday items as well... But then suddenly just quit working, it wouldn't let me log in, and it kept telling me it didn't recognize my account. I uninstalled the app, and reinstalled it, so now it seems to be working again... But I have my concerns that it's going to be doing this often. If the problems continue to persist, I'll probably have to uninstall the app for good and just give up on it.

Completely frustrated with this app. I've earned a lot of miles, but it does not work many times. I had large purchases I was looking forward to making with the app and my double points credit cards but the app will not complete the purchases of the gift cards I need to buy. This has happened on many occasions over time. Other times you cannot open and access GC you already bought. Right now y it takes forever to even load the page to purchase a gift card, then denies the purchase. The problem is with the app as I have double checked all my cards and they are fine. Two hours messing with this and gave up.

Previously I would have given it 4 stars, but they overhauled the app a while back & removed an important feature--the ability to refresh balances on purchased cards. In the previous version I could drag down to refresh (with the caveat that some cards may not update). No longer. I also drop a star because they make it very difficult to delete a credit card once added (adding is easy), & the fact that you have to do this on your MileagePlus profile isn't even mentioned in the MileagePlus X FAQ.

Update: United contacted me and gave me a potential solution. They advised me to go into my Mileage Plus account (website) and re-enter my address / phone number for each credit card I had registered on the site. Once I did that, I was able to make gift card purchases again as normal! --------- This was a great app but now is full of errors, authorizes and puts holds on cars but never actually generates the gift card. The old app worked perfect. This one is garbage.

Keeps saying "Enrollment error" when trying to add my card. Buggy (slow, unresponsive) search and TERRIBLE interface on this redesign! The previous version of this app was MUCH better to navigate and easier on the eyes...and more functional than it is now. Way to go in making it LESS user-friendly and slower right at the busiest shopping time of the year! Will be using my other shopping rewards memberships until this improves. Update 2/12/19: NO improvements! Worse than before.

The app used to work. Now every time I try to buy a gift card, it says "transaction failed".

Can't even use it since the update, getting error msgs every time I try to buy a card. I've missed out on hundreds of points!! I can't even find a way to contact support. Also, when shopping online, once you look at an item you cant go back without exiting the website. So aggravating I just quit. Terrible "update".

It doesn't work! Keeps reloading and its forever! Fix it!

Always a good idea to uninstall/reboot/reinstall this app when it is updated.

There should be a version of this for desktops, or have it built into mileage plus shopping-ridiculous that i have to buy a gift card here and then copy the number to the other app to make the purchase. The app send me notifications, but when I click them and the app items, I can't see the details of the promos anywhere-no idea where to find the promos. I wrote contact me and dnt get responses-button might as well be broken...such bad support. Search doesn't work. Gift card balance doesn't update, and can't get back a gift card one you mark it redeemed.

Has been working great for years but last few months I'll open up the app and it's it'll show a spinner and never load or just say "Please wait" but nothing ever happens so had to give up using it at the store on several occasions. Fix it!

Upgraded app has potential but is a step back from prior version. Search ability is lacking. Worse yet, there is no way to recover an accidentally redeemed gift if you have cleared your email notification. This happened once by my doing and then again by a vendor employee. Twice I sent a message to support requesting assistance. My message was acknowledged, but I was never contacted as promised. As of now I am still out about $70 in unused gift cards I have no access to. Poor customer service.

The app has a new look, but it's still having every single problem it had before. Redeeming miles for gift cards is still nearly impossible. The system keeps saying to contact customer support, but customer support never replies back. All issues are left unresolved.

Since the number of restaurants that we like to frequent is rather empty right now, I discovered that there are tons of restaurants where I can buy a gift card up front and then actually go to the restaurant later. but the miles get credited to my balance right away. Plus, I just noticed that I can get 5 miles per $ spent on gift cards for AMC theaters!! That ROCKS!!!

Normally great but not working now? Won't complete a payment for eGift card

I was leery about this from others reviews but tried it for myself anyway. I have used it quite a bit. I have told people about it too especially when paying with the gift cards. I'm a bath and body works fiend so I'm always shopping there. So I have them total my order and then I got into Mileage plus X and buy a gift card for the amount of my purchase and then they just scan the barcode for the gift card on my phone it's that easy!!! UPDATE: I ran into the same problem everyone else did with the update and then the app not working. So I decided to sign out and signed back in. Easy fix. It's working again!!

There are things I like about this app, especially now that one is able to log in via fingerprint when buying e-gift cards. I appreciate that they've combined the various ways of earning into one app. These things I would change: For e-gift card buying, eliminate the "congratulatory" screen that happens between entering the password /fingerprint and getting the actual e-gift number/code. It's in the way. Update! The "shopping portal" is still showing Black Friday deals that are invalid.

This is the 3rd time the apps has had some sort of a malfunction in the middle of a purchase and has taken my money but not given me the gift card only for the transaction to drop off my account 7 days later and refund me the money. I'm not in the business of burying cash for a week at a time, this happened multiple times now and im sure that im not the only one so fix it. Don't take the money if the transaction doesn't go through!
