I like having the ability to look at my text books, even if they're not in front of me. I hate how you can't choose what text to read when using text to speech. It's annoying when it starts reading off the tiny words that do nothing but describe what chapter it is so it's easier when looking for whatever chapter you need to read. It makes me wish I could use my text books on an app where they actually care about the mobile users FYI the app does not look like what the screenshots are potraying

A joke. App only lets your read the book, while not counting towards your time reading, and allows you to study with flash cards. Can't do any quick quizzes or assignments within the app. Basically useless for class in this state. What's the point in it if I still have to use my computer to do everything. Incorporate everything into this app and I will change my rating. Get it together, Valued customer

Says I can do the reading in app, but won't open the textbook. Would be better if the app was set up like it is on the web. The website navigation is so much easier and way more user friendly, and it has a mobile phone set up too. Do not bother installing this app.

Miserable. Books have no night mode. Figures and graphics are blurry and unreadable. Highlighting is cumbersome. Pages lock with some purple hazy mark down the side of the page with no explanation, making it impossible to read. Book never remembers my place. The single worst book experience I have had in 40 years of reading data on computers. The Apple IIe did better than this garbage.

Just started my cal class and I thought it be great to have this to note take and read the book on the fly/while on break at work. Only problem is it kicks me to the start of the book every so often makes it almost impossible to read.

Only use to read textbooks, I do not have the option to finish assignments or quizzes. Please fix this app, it has a lot of potential!

Until homework is available to all textbooks, this app is only useful for reading/listening to the textbooks.

Absolute garbage. It has a mind of its own and only allows me to highlight whatever it allows me to highligh. Also, it will randomly just go blank at random times and refuse to show back up unless I shut down the app and re-open it. If I had a choice, Id would much rather have my textbooks on Yuzu, but the books i need are only supported on THIS app. Go figure, right?

Can't navigate my textbook in this app. It's incredibly slow updating pages as I scroll through, and if you scroll too quickly the app just gives up and jumps back to the course home. Running on a fairly new Pixel 5a.

I keep trying to read my textbook and I get a blank screen. Only fix is to uninstall and install it again. This is ridiculous. This is the 4th time I had to re-download this app to read my textbook in 2 weeks.

If you've got 20 minutes to wait for your textbook to load, it's just dandy. What a joke. The website isn't much better. If one of my classes didn't force me to get a cengage subscription in order to take the quizzes, I wouldn't touch cengage with a ten foot pole. Oh, I'm using a brand new Pixel 5.

Handy App for studying on the go. I had a few page loading issues, mostly slow loads, and there's some cut out info because the platform is an App as opposed to the entire UI. If you are studying and need time to read your textbook material, the Cengage Mobile App will certainly give you a way to stay current.

Does its job. It's perfect if all you want is to read your textbooks on the go. Don't expect anything other than that though. You can't sync your highlights, can't add books, etc. The reading interface is not the best, the top panel keeps popping up makes it distracting. No huge issues other these minor annoyances. I mean, it's not like you have any other choices, at least it doesn't have ads.

I like being able to access my textbooks on the go and still being able to highlight etc. The app would be better if it had a better relationship with the online platform. Highlights and place in book don't carry across and I can't do any of my assignments through the app, despite receiving reminders for due dates. I understand that not all of the features can be offered via mobile, but I feel like it is a real missed opportunity for the app to not integrate it better with the online platform.

I originally gave this a 4 star rating but after using this for a semester, I've since changed my mind. It's very slow, if I have hw due soon it's more worth it to use the desktop version on mobile and the desktop version is terrible on mobile. It also gives the wrong text. I was staring at this math problem for like 30 minutes trying to figure out how x=12 but after reviewing my friends work I found out the textbook was displaying the wrong text. I paid $80 and they can't make a decent app? Wow

This apps works well on my phone. On my tablet there are issues. After I close the app and open it back up the app won't run at all. Not just the book but the app entirely. It will only work if I uninstall the app and reinstall after. I need to go through this process everytime I try on the tablet. Also the text to speech option needs work. Your only option is to change the speed or pause. I think it would help to be able to choose where it starts, or go back to a section you missed.

Very frustrating trying to study the material. The first time I read through, no problems. Now I'm going back to look for answers to a study guide with questions pulled directly from the text, and some passages are completely missing. Like the paragraph stops in the middle of a sentence and just skips to the next paragraph. I know I read a paragraph about a question, but its nowhere to be found. And when I search key words from the topic of the paragraph, nothing happens. Total waste of $150.

Updates have made it less user friendly than previous version. The main change I hate is that activities are no longer grouped by chapters. It's one long list & if I need to do activities in chapter 10, I have to scroll through all the previous uncompleted activities EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It takes twice as long to complete the work and it very frustrating. Also I cannot see any previous work from past semesters so it is difficult to review.

An ADA nightmare. I've had to Uninstall and reinstall 3 times. I need a screen reader to effectively study the material. I'm lucky I'm not blind which would make this much worse. The web browser option was awful because of missing blocks of text, and the text reader reading text that wasn't even part of the book. This app forces a download prior to loading. The green pop that says that it downloaded and can be read offline is a lie. There is no option on voice it can't keep up and skips.

The app worked great the first day but during that same night, glitches crashes started occurring. I have tried closing, reopening and redownloading but none of the issues have been resolved. I am no longer able to create or review my notes/highlights I created on the ebook. After redownloading the app, everything was wiped out. None of the notes/highlights from the app appears on the website version. It makes me feel like all I have read and diligently studied were all gone to waste...

Absolute garbage. No ability to download one chapter at a time, even on celluar data. The app is slow. It isn't even necessary as a mobile site is capable of doing anything anything this app can. But of course the mobile site is literally unreadable on a mobile phone. And of course I have no option to use software that actually works so everything is ten times more frustrating.

I can't read the book. Everytime I open the app, it says "Download" the book, even though I already have. Then that clears and it says reads, however, when you click to read, it just shuts down and starts all over again. The reader is trash, can barely use the thing as an e-reader(the only thing I wanted the app for). You can't open the book, it cuts pages off weirdly and generally just isn't good. Don't waste time on this app and rent/buy your book from somewhere else.

This app should really be optimized for tablet use; I rarely use this app on my phone and it constantly crashes on my tablet. Dropped to one star because the app keeps restarting by itself and when I go to re-open my book, it goes back to the first page. Do you know how annoying it is to keep searching for the last page I was on after the app restarts itself out of nowhere? :/

Unable to purchase ebook through app, error messages pop up so you must purchase it on a computer. Assignments and quizzes are not supported by the app. The read aloud function reads everything on the page, including urls in a computer voice. Lastly, it automatically switches the text to landscape if you accidentally turn your phone too much(even after turning off devices auto rotate).

Sigh, yay for making textbooks available electronically and having text to voice availability. Boo on the execution of the app. It is truly awful. Doesn't always work, is klunky, stops randomly, doesn't read some passages. My textbook randomly disappears and has to be downloaded again, and that only works when it wants to.

This is a terrible program, desktop AND app version. All of my coursework takes three times as long because of all the bugs and "communication errors". I'm stuck doing the same page of the same test over and over again without it submitting my answers and they don't even save. Absolute waste of time and gigantic waste of money.

Digital text books are done better with other apps. Tricky to navigate and bookmarks don't save across devices, at least during the trial period. On tablets the app seems to always auto rotate despite my system settings being set to portrait and not auto. Limited control of the read out loud function. The worst part is that you are locked out from the book AND your course work if you don't eventually pay their triple digit fee. Access will still expire after paying. Say goodbye to used books.
