The game window doesn't have the correct size (about 2/3 of the screen width and height) and is not properly positioned on my phone (it seems a bit of the game window is offscreen). The touch controls are offset by a lot (possibly because of the wrong window size). All this makes the game totally unplayable. Too bad because it's a cool game on computer.

The versiom here is outdated. Download the latest version from the official site. Have been playing this cross platform for a few weeks now. PC, Raspberry Pi and Android phone. It has not yet crashed. Everything works. Install mods easily to get mobs and other features. Actually I prefer it over real Minecraft. It loads quick and runs great and it is 100% ad free and opensource. And all the instructions are in game.

Works almost like in the pc, which is amazing, but the controls are kinda hard to get used to, but it works if you want to do something minimum like farming, chatting with people in multiplayer. That's really what I hoped for an touchscreen gameplay. I hope if there is some or there would be some kind of controller input in the future, so that it would be easier to control the game.

Android version is almost unusable. The menus UI is useless for things like scrolling, and in the game it is even worse. I haven't worked out how to split items in the inventory, and the inventory itself is very inconvenient to open. Also, why is double tapping place blocks? It's impossible to build anything remotely complex, so single tapping would be better.

Minetest is great! This android port isn't. Minetest is an open source game engine that runs custom games written in lua. It's more like roblox than minecraft, in that regard. One custom game, Nodecore, is *very* worth a look. This client is a pretty direct port of the desktop version, with some touch controls slapped on. It doesn't appear to recognize my hardware controller buttons at all. The touch controls are clunky at best, too.

Fantastic concept for a miner game, with free mods galore at a literal tap of a button. However, the actual game itself is clunky on mobile devices, making movement and block manipulation a huge chore. My only suggestion would be to make these easier to control, perhaps by utilizing a virtual joystick and 2 buttons (for breaking and placing) otherwise, great game.

The inventory controls are weird. Lots of mods though. Look for ui mods. And play the tutorial game in the mod list. Note: double tap is right click/interact. To place single block of a stack: two fingers. Hold stack and tap elsewhere. It places the block where you held. Weird. Wish it would just put one where I pressed last. Requires alot of ram like all voxel games. Good just hard to get used to.

Vanilla Minetest on PC is pretty bare bones but it's awesome when you mod it, I've been playing it recently and love it, it feels very different to Minecraft, it feels like I'm experiencing Minecraft for the first time again. But this port to Android is not so good. The UI isn't designed well, controls are uncomfortable and unresponsive, and you can't load most mods without crashing the game.

This game is great on PC, but the mobile version doesn't allow you to type in the game menu - you type, click done, and the text disappears. This happened to two friends as well. As a result, you cannot log on to a server, defeating the whole purpose of the app. Would love for it to work, please fix!

I absolutely love this game. Coming from Minecraft, this is a completely different experience. Having to completely relearn how to take advantage of world generation patterns is really cool. Minecraft generates worlds in different ways and Minetest seems to do it better and more realistically in my opinion. Plus the fact that this version is basically a direct port of the PC version is super cool because my modpacks still work. Just wish the shaders worked on mobile and the UI was updated

Vast caves to explore, long before Minecraft update. The interface is very difficult for this game, but it goes to a depth of -32000 allowing for much more interesting caving routes. You will easily get lost underground.

I've been playing this game on Linux for over 5 years. I really love it, but more importantly, I have made a lot of friends. I don't play Minetest that much these days, but I still talk to my friends almost daily, some of them all day every day! The only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 5 is that the mobile app doesn't let me type in boxes, making multiplayer impossible. UPDATE: Text problem has been fixed!

Fixed the upgrade finally Upgraded rating from 3 to 4 stars. . Movement control is still triggered on the left third of the screen. Also it is not effective when precise movement is needed.- Maneuvering through rough terrain is difficult- Better, and more family friendly than minecraft. If you've played Minecraft then Minetest will be extremely intuitive. Otherwise I recomend the first server you choose be RedCat Creative as they are helpful and a Creative Server will let you get your feet wet.

A great free app with no ads. It would be nice if the default Minetest game had an included crafting guide, but mostly I just play downloaded content anyway. Most of the content runs really well, including running a local server with a phone and PC connected. Keep up the good work.

I love this game ever since I discovered it in childhood. However the mobile versions controls are a bit wonky and Bluetooth controllers do not basically work at all. Only jumping and menu works but that's on Y and B??? I'd like some controller support especially since this is a mobile version

AWESOME!!!!!!! I am paneg ingame and have tried tons of servers, most creative fun different servers, and singleplayer is great too, with minetest mods i have tried all sorts of things for my minetest server Panegs Survival Server (Silver Lands). There is no limit, but I do think that the controls are a little dificult, and yes, i did change it to the round thing which helped a lot, and 1 other thing is why on certain servers, like lily in the vally, do i keep timing out as soon as i log in? thx!

Minetest is a great game, but this mobile version has some glaring issues. The biggest issue is an error saying "GL_INVALID_ENUM" that spams the chat, meaning that you really can't read anything in the chat, which kinda makes multiplayer a no-go for me. Single player works fine if you hide the chat, though. Huge bummer, since all I do on Minetest is on multiplayer. However, I was messaging devs and they said they sent a "hotfix" to the Play Store, so it should be fixed soon. There are other, smaller issues, such as the GUI not looking that great, but you can fix that by changing the settings. Also, I think the "mouse sensitivity" is too strong. Everything else I hold against the game (no in game mod and game store, no options for multiple single player worlds) is about preferences. The game works fine, I just wish it were as polished as the PC & Mac versions (as unpolished as those are ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Pretty good I've played it onPC, and it is truly cross platform, which means no matter which device your playing on PC or phone you connect, and mods are compatible across devices to and also if someone has a mod you don't need it installed for you to see it working on a freinds world it will automatically work., out of all the MC alternatives I tried this is the one I have stuck the most., resolution on mobile glitched out

Great game, but i come with a problem. WASD doesn't work on mobile. Also, i'd like if there was a way to remove the on-screen joystick (I have a chromebook, i can flip it into touchscreen mode, but i'd much rather play this game with the keyboard)

Joe. D. Dec 15, 2020

I know this is a great game but only on pc with mouse and keyboard. Here on android controls are weird, and there is no controller support. There are some settings like "enable joystick", "joystick id" and "joystick type" but they don't seem to do anything. If the developers added gamepad support i'd give it 5 star rating.

So. Jul 12, 2020

At first I could not play it since text fields were ot editable. After they fixed this ... I still could not play it, as the password confirmation field is not editable. I know this is done from pure passion, but clearly they are not testing the mobile version. Uninstalled, no plan to reinstall. Too bad; the desktop version is quite nice.

Best alternative to Minecraft out there! Blueberries, copper, tin, mese, cotton, and more that even Minecraft doesn't have!!! Also more realistic than Minecraft, as there are no monsters, red mushrooms are poisonous, and diamonds are much rarer. Only problem is, you can't split stacks of items. There is a way around this, however: put each item into a chest immediately after collecting it. Then you will have smaller stacks/single items to craft with!

I like it because you can build and play online with friends. However, the only thing I don't like is the really bad lag. Unless you use a phone, laptop, or PC, I wouldn't recommend server playing. Also, I can't launch a server for others to play on. The biggest thing is the lag, though.

If you have a computer I recommend getting Minetest on that. The developers aren't paid for this and finding someone willing to put their free time into the mobile version is hard. But, if you do end up using this, take note of the 'browse online content' button in the 'Content' tab. That's where you can get games to play and mods to add to them (90% of mods only work with the default game, Minetest Game). My personal favorite game is Nodecore, it's not for everyone, but might be for you ;)

I am planning to download this on my laptop, but decided to check this out first. The controls are very awkward and is overfilled with controls on the side. Knowing what block you clicked on when you tap on it would be useful too.

esz. Aug 20, 2019

Minetest is really fun and is fun with friends too. Only problems are controls, would love to see a big improvement here, and basically how it was ported, its not very mobile friendly and makes certain things difficult. Overall is great for passing time :)

๐Ÿ”งโš™๏ธNote for dev's: Everything is great, but please, make use of app folder storage under Android/data/ on SD Card, and not /storage/emulated/0/Minetest, it's made Storage Permission not mandatory. It will be much better for installing 3rd-party mods from semi-trusted sources. Android has a good apps sandboxing model, so why to blindly bypass it? โ˜บ๐Ÿ˜

A bit of a learning curve at the start, especially with commands. Controls are a little finicky; you could end up breaking more blocks than you intend to. Mods are great and easy to install.
