Absolutely horrible experience today. As a user of this app for many years, I can firmly say that this update is my most negative experience. The app is constantly crashing, not syncing, zooming in and zooming out at will, grouping houses in inefficient groups so that I have to backtrack every time I do a street, and for kicks the GPS was about a block-and-a-half off showing me inside someone's house. Not sure if this is just an issue with Galaxy phones but it needs to be fixed PRONTO please.
Latest version hangs, crashes, is laggy and unresponsive and the map is unusable cos the houses disappear. Galaxy s7
Wish I could rate this based on the interface once you've logged in, but I was never able to get past the front screen. Crashed every time I tried to put my Action ID in. People have been reporting this since last year, and it's still an issue. Also, people weren't kidding; this app seems to drain your battery while you're not even using it.
Why is there no way to mark your contacts as contacted? The tutorial shows a slider but it's missing in my app.
Worked very well for political canvassing. The lists always worked, it was perfectly capable of working without data on (synced at the beginning and end of day), and very well optimized. All I would ask for is better integration with Google Maps (one click to set the destination from the app), and better team features.
The app really does drain battery, is there any possibility of a dark mode to save life on OLED devices? I've also had problems with the app crashing endlessly when trying to mark large groups as inaccessible. The service itself is super great for canvassing but there could definitely be some quality of life improvements.
This works well for iPhone, but it has completely stopped working on my android. I tried to delete and redownload, but the store states that it is already installed. It is nowhere to be found in my phone. 40 minutes with the play helpline led me to realize it is the developer's problem with android. Please fix soon!! We need you!
This is a good app, but there are some small tweaks that could make it MUCH better. Suggestions: 1. From house numbers, being able to quickly mark if they refused, inaccessible, moved, deceased just like NOT HOME is a quick option. 2. From the house numbers, being able to quickly mark if the entire neighborhood was inaccessible.
Only could use with WiFi...not away from home. HI has had free WiFi for 20 years. Here in San Diego, nope...
Engineered for situations where nothing goes wrong. Missing contingency assistance (like contact phone numbers for emergencies or some other method to deal with unforeseen issues) I used the app today, and it was a disaster. I encountered problems conducting the canvassing (flooded roads), so I needed to reach headquarters or change my list or make other changes. Nothing in the app provided for this. I was totally stuck stranded.
Really useful tool when canvassing. I like to use the map for you to find my general area so I can navigate my way to it and then I use household view to make sure I don't miss any houses. A cool feature to add would be the ability to navigate within the app using either Google Maps or Here Maps. Using this app probably allows it canvasser to quickly visit twice the normal amount of houses that would have been visited using the paper method.
Won't allow access beyond the log in page since last update.
Our organization uses the app to load voter info from public records, and allows us to input our own fields as well. Administrators then load new scripts appropriate to a particular canvas. The app is amazingly simple to use. It is intuitive and requires no tutorial. Best thing in politics since sliced bread! As to the reviewer who believes the app doesn't work on Android, she is wrong. All of the features are visible and operational. If you don't know how to call them up, go to the HELP menu.
pretty shawty map experience for an app that relies so heavily on the map experience. misses houses by entire blocks. and be sure you're zoomed in before plotting your route - the app doesn't group things intelligently if you're zoomed out too far. edit: edited from 2 to 1. the list won't sync. this app is pretty useless.
The app has certainly gotten more streamlined, but my one area of complaint is that you can't list an entire building as inaccessible. Instead you have to go through each individual resident. But as any urban canvasser knows, you come across numerous buildings that are locked.
I've used miniVAN for two previous campaign and it was great. On my Pixel 3 though, it will not stay open. In order to see my list I have to reinstall the app once every 20 minutes or so. I'm sure this will get worked out, which is why I still gave it three stars
before this last update, i didn't have any issues with Minivan. i always wrote down the data for a backup in case things went awry. i loaded data for 4 turfs rhis week. my phone synced data for 50% of 1 and 33% of another. nothing for the other 2. i knocked 112 doors! my phone still shows data for the last turf. it wont sync. says its synced. but wont. my data captain cant see the results. pathetic. you guys broke the syncing function. minivan lost my data. terrible!
This was a great app in 2018. What happened? Won't sync even though it says it successfully synced. If i have to bring paper copies, kind of defeats the purpose. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Sends you in circles. Can't mark completed stops.
Honestly it's pretty easy to use but unfortunately in map view the icons get placed all over, some addresses are on the money and others are an entire city block off the mark. It makes map view *nearly* un-useable, which for my purposes means that applies to the entire app. PLEASE RESOLVE
It keeps stopping and closing unexpectedly, and it drains battery like crazy. And once or twice, even after I pressed the sync button, it lost all my data for a particular list when I temporarily switched lists or it closed.
Have used it canvassing for a candidate. Thought I would miss the paper lists and minivan would be too complicated. Not so. It was pretty easy to use and saves the campaign hours of tedious data entry from paper lists.
Positive view of working with the app while canvassing, we are having trouble with team syncing. When a second person loads a turf data isn't synced on the map, it only appears on the household lists.
I can't input someone into the app without it crashing and kicking me out. I have to uninstall and then reinstall it. I then lose all progress from my actual list. I'm in the process of losing my job simply because the app won't let me add someone's info into the app. It says that there's a bug. Wish I could attach the photo so you can read what it says when it kicks me out.
