I mean it technically does contain all the information you need, and it doesn't break my device or anything, but this app has been out for years now and hasn't had a single UI improvement that I can see. In fact, the map is somehow less functional than it used to be. It really needs an overhaul, or some search filters at the very least.
I worked at the MN State Fair every day, in a position where many guests would ask me questions. This app was a great help. However, the search function was a bit clunky. It could be easier, more friendly and improved. Also, the constant updates were a bit tedious.
Great for finding and marking places/foods/beverages you may want to visit. Not as good as the website or the paper maps that have way more information such as restrooms, first aid, etc. Also would be nice if the map wasn't zoomed in all the way all the time to see an overview of the grounds. Not a fan of the scrolling white tiles over the star striped background!
I downloaded this app thinking it would be able to give me walking directions to each vendor and it does not. The map doesn't even allow you to zoom in or out. When searching for vendors it lists them by distance and not alphabetically! No problem if you are allowed to type in the category or even name of the vendor but nope, no such luck. I had better luck using Google maps!
same old useless app as the last few years map cannot be zoomed, missing so many "normal" features even for a mediocre app. will try it again this year, but anticipate that I will uninstall within an hour of entering the Fair. Information might be there but the user interface is mostly useless. example: search for a food item, pick from list, then have map show me where I am, and where it is.(hint let us zoom in and out to see the whole map!) so much potential, but nothing new here 😢
Everyone giving this app 1 star doesn't understand that it isn't Google Maps, nor should it be. Its purpose is to be an info guide for fairgoers who want to be able to find things on their phone (or save paper), and for that it does a decent job. The interface is easy to navigate, and the info is presented clearly. Improvements could be made to the text formatting, and it would be nice to be able to zoom on the map. However, it was good enough to find what I needed at the fair
Unusable with Samsung S10e.... display laps over control buttons, so if you try and bring up map, list of food options, etc. it just starts phone functions (i. e. exit app, back, etc.) If I stary with phone rotated so app function buttons aren't overlapping phone function buttons it just rotates back to up down orientation. I've used this app in years past, so not sure why it's unusable in this version
Decided to see exactly how bad the interface was after reading several reviews and then uninstalled within 2 minutes. The map does not pinch and zoom as others have stated, once you search for something on the food list it won't take it off, etc. Don't waste your time, just grab a map at the front gate and wander.
Can't zoom in and out on the map which might annoy me enough to uninstall it. Wish it categorized things like new foods and beverages and different kinds of foods.
Previously I wrote about the app not being for 2021. I'm updating my comment, as now it has been. WOW! This app is a complete remodel. It's very comprehensive for any fair-goer. Tons of obvious features and even more click-thru's that provide further info. Thanks, developers, for changing lame to luxury!
It was nice to have the app. I didn't realize that at the fair it was no longer in alphabetical order, so I'd go to look for something and couldn't find it. Also, it would be great to have a search feature. We were looking for something, but because the items were no longer in order I couldn't find it. Also, there were several times it won't open. I could google anything, but the app won't open. All in all, I did use it several times but not as much as I had hoped to.
Map cannot be enlarged or shrunk. It has been like that before. It needs to change next year. Not really worth it without that. Gonna waste paper on a map at the fair.
I mean. 🤷 This is pretty bad. Like BAD bad. Like if AIM and Oregon Trail made a technology baby. Disappointing to say the least. I've never made an app before but after using this i might try. How hard can it be? 🤔
I cannot favorite items, I cannot search in map, the information sections are better but this app has no advantages over a paper map and schedule.
Dowloaded around noon while heading to the fair. Now, back home at 6pm, it is still updating the database. Wasn't able to use it at all.
Please make the map so that you can zoom in and out. Also, some additional filtering capability would be helpful.
Search function works well, but the UI is 90s website bad, and not being able to zoom out on map makes is near useless.
It is a little behind the times user interface wise... Slightly usable, but only just. I really dont see why this app isnt better, shunt some $$$ over and help people spend more $$$, come on people. I'll have this app with me this 2019, but I will try my hardest to NOT have to used this ancient app at all.
Great app for navigating the fair and seeing show schedules. Would love to see a filter for vegetarian/vegan food next year!
UNUSABLE! app goes down to the bottom of screen and over laps home and back button so can't do anything with it.
Absolutely a wast of space is not helpful at all map does not resize search do not find what I know is here. I expected better from the great MN get together.
The map is virtually non-functional on the android app. May as well get a paper map with the daily happenings when I arrive at the fair like always.
The map was useless, you couldn't zoom in or out so it was impossible to navigate routes because you couldn't see the whole picture.
The only reason it gets a second star is I like that I can favorite events and then they come up in chronological order and also drops pins on the map. Unfortunately the map is pretty useless as you can't zoom out. Just get the pdf version from the website as its far more functional. This is 2019. I should have all my favorite spots pinned on the map and it should be able to show me the most efficient route to get to all of them. Disapointing app even for 2010 standards.
