I like the app, but I really don't need ANOTHER subscription service. I'd gladly pay a one time fee. I actually enjoy the 8bit style and the custom ingredient option. The holiday recipe pack is a nice added bonus too. Sorry to the developers. I'm one subscriber that you won't be getting.
Honestly, it's really helpful, and if you like the pixel vibe to tie all drinks together in one clean style? Its worth the annual fee, it's like a dollar month, and it has continued service updates, which means web hosting, so I get it. Easy to use and well worth the look in this budding bartender's opinion.
Awful bait and switch nonsense. Paid$5 twice for2 devices, to have the full features and recipe list. Now they up the price and take features away until youpay again. This was a cumbersome, jankey app to begin with. Not worth an ever-expanding price tag.
One of the best IF NOT THE BEST app for bartenders or normal people who want to have a drink. Design 10/10, effectiveness 10/10, recipes 10/10, usefulness 10/10, handling 10/10 (with this I mean is easy to use and in a simple User Interface you can do a lot of things to personalice your bars). I love this app! The ability to set up your actual bar, fridge, and pantry in a digital format is an absolutely amazing feature for new and experienced mixers. The fact that the app then yes what you've told it you have on hand to tell you what you can make AND how to make it is simply amazing. I'd i could complain about anything, it's be that if things are to close on the shelf, they can't be clicked. To end on a high, even if the app doesn't have the cocktail, it can manually be entered!
This is a great app for organizing. The simple menus are the best out there. The devs care a lot more then other apps. The biggest issue is the subscription model. I would love to support the dev and get premium for the features but it doesn't make sense as a subscription. Why not allow one time purchase with the option to buy more future recipes if added. Even if 30. Lastly the sorting/ grouping needs improvement. I should be able to view in order by favorites first, then bookmarked then tried.
I've only purchased a few apps, and never written a review for one, but this is one of the best apps I've ever used. It only draws recipes from reliable sources, is extremely organized, has a wonderful style, and plenty of options. Mixel let's you stock your virtual bar and lets you know what recipes you can make; what's even better is it tells you how close you are to being able to make a recipe and recommends substitutes for a pinch. You can add notes to recipes. It's truly great.
I tried a handful of cocktail apps before stumbling on to this one. And I was happy to pay for the complete edition. If you bartend at home and or work this app is a must and it's worth every penny. It's like buying ten $10 bar books for $10 . Definitely turn off the pixel font though my only complaint so far. I really didn't want to spend money on a cocktail app, but if felt let down by every free app on the store, and this one is actually worth every penny. It actually has cocktails like the Revolver which I simply couldn't find on any other app. I actually do wish there was a social aspect, being able to add friends through email just to share or view favorites and bookmarks would take this application to the next level. Screenshotting works well enough but I feel like there's some missed opportunity in not being able to share cocktails recipes in the app with other people that have the app. Not to create new ones, just to share the ones that are already there. But that's it. The pixel font is annoying to me (easy fix built into the app) and I can't add people as friends. Still a 5/5 though 9/10 if I could.
Probably the best cocktail/bar app I've used. Really clean interface that doesn't feel like you're just using a desktop website from 2010 in mobile form. It has a huge library and I like that it basically collects cocktails from a variety of established sources so you don't have to. The pixel art may not be for everyone but I really like it, especially for creating cocktails. To me it provides a look of consistency throughout the app.
Very clumsy UI. Even with a stylus, I can't select some things that are on the shelf next to other things. I have to delete and re-add (or move) the thing next to it. And "Move" is extremely counterintuitive; I expected to be able to tap where I wanted something to go, but you can only use the arrows on the bottom bar to move things up or down a shelf. You can't precisely arrange things. I think if I have more than about 20 ingredients, this UI is going to be unusable, and I have pretty good corrected eyesight and a stylus. The shelf metaphor is cute, and I'd love it if it actually worked, but given the limits of tapping on small things on a small screen I think a searchable, rearrangeable list UI would be much more practical. (Haven't yet explored the recipes, although I immediately bought the premium pack on a friend’s recommendation. This review is just about the UI usability.)
After being served several nice drinks, I asked my friend where he got his recipes. He told me this app and I downloaded it. I think the virtual bar is clever and I like being able to add and backup my own creations. I've never been a fan of the retro 8bit craze but overlook it because the app works. I finally chose to pay for all of the recipes but found they moved to a subscription model. Unfortunately this is not an app I use enough to justify paying a monthly/annual fee. Lost opportunity.
Best app out there for home cocktail and bar management. The optimizer to help pick out the best new ingredients to get is amazing. However, it is frustrating that you can't copy and paste in the text boxes in the app. Makes inputting your own recipes very tedious. Beyond this issue, the app is great.
Fantastic app idea for bartenders, but needs work. The fact that you have to pay a subscription fee to get the (very necessary) premium features is the reason why i am uninstalling and using a different app. It's nice to have my favorite recipe books pre-loaded onto the app, but I would much rather pay a flat fee to unlock them. The menus are also a little janky and hard to navigate.
This is one of the best mixology apps. I just bought premium after a few months use and im already loving it with no regrets! Most drinks come with a description of the origin along with a taste profile! Perfect for managing an at home bar!! Also love the "fridge 2000". Adding recipes can be a bit challenging with no paste option for steps and sometomes the save button will not allow you to click it for some strange reason. Hope to see new recipes added soon perhaps more modern coloured ones!
The app has a wide range of ingredients and recipes. I personally really enjoyed the pixelated style, as well. Unfortunately, when using on a Google Pixel 4a, the app consistently crashes when trying to save created recipes. This really restricts the usefulness for me, as I needed a place to save the recipes I've come up with or modified. I have since uninstalled the app.
By far the best cocktail app! I enjoy the pixel art but the app really shines in its vast list of cocktails and all the ways you can interact with them. Being able to sort by the different packs, flavors and see which you have ingredients for is amazing. The add-in packs are a must have if you want plenty of recipes to try out!
Damn this is a good app. Currently my app is showing over 1700 recipes on here, but the filtering based on ingredients is incredible to really hone in on the ones I want. I cannot recommend this enough, as its invaluable for finding new recipes and iterating on old ones. There are just so many small features to help you sort and organise and make notes. Can't really think of any improvements at the moment, as they are only very minor things.
Fantastic app for cocktails. I use it a lot. Well worth full price. There's just SO much in the app - searching by title, and ingredients, the clickable links, and the ability to make something like a "this is a close match for your Whisky" is amazing, and opens up so many amazing drinks. As an old school computer guy, I also LOVE the look and feel. Such a simple idea, and totally awesomely implemented. This app is perfect! My favourite part is how great the custom cocktail recipe builder is. My main use is finding or creating cocktails, having a place to store it, and letting me know what ingredients I'm missing. Custom ingredient creation is great too, and so is all the sorting functionality. Looks amazing too. Sometime the ui can be a bit finicky and might close a popout ui, or not save a change. But overall it works really really well and I can 100% recommend it!
Its an okay app. I wouldnt mind paying for an app once. But I cannot see paying a continuing subscription for it. No matter how good the app is. The graphics are pixelated like an old 80s video game. It is also a little much having to read an items description every time you add an ingredient to your bar. You shouldnt have to see the description of an item again after adding it once. There free apps that do the same. And My Cocktail Bar Pro version for $ 0.99.
I downloaded and was enjoying adding ingredients until I saw most recipes were locked. I looked into Premium but it's $12/year. I really dislike subscription apps, especially for one I'll only use a handful of times a year. If it was a reasonable one time payment I'd recommend purchasing and using this app. As of now My Cocktail Bar seems to have equivalent functionality with all recipes free ($2 to remove adds).
This app is seriously amazing. all you need if you want to get into mixology. the recipes are clear, its presented perfectly simply. really really solid app. Upon transferring to a new phone there was an issue with my previous purchases not transferring. I contacted the devs and they were perfectly lovely and sent me a code to fix it. if you're into cocktails: get this app!!
Love the app, but recipes you create yourself don't show up in the list of possible recipes which is frustrating and limits its use.
The only cocktail recipe guide you need! Thousands of recipes from the best cocktail books around the world and an ingredient tracker so you know what you can make, and many ways of filtering and sorting recipes. There's also the "maximizer" which calculates what new ingredients will allow you to make the most new cocktails. This is absolutely my favorite app ever.
Incredible app for any home bartender. Tons of recipes of all kinds. You can search by particular ingredients, or browse all the drinks you could make with everything you have on hand. I love functionality for creating your own recipes. It lets me keep them all organized in one place with notes as I iterate on them. I also import favorite recipes manually into the app and save them there. I use this app constantly.
