Mobile C64

Emulator for the popular 80's home computer C64. Can be controller via touchscreen, trackball, keyboard and/or external USB/bluetooth controllers. Offers an on-screen keyboard for text input. Comes with some Public Domain games, f.e. Elite, Kickstart oder Attack of the Mutant Camels, ready to play! Other games can be added to the SD card and played from there.

The emulator is not the fastest, so that a fast CPU is recommended for running it smoothly.

I was excited to play a few games (main intrest being Castle Wolfenstein) and it worked perfectly. I'm not experienced with emulating so I was confused at first but then figured out I need to extract the game to get the .d64 file. Thanks. Edit: This games bad reviews are so stupid. They may be complaing because terminal/pc emulators aren't as "user friendly" as your typical application. I imagine most people just expected to click a rom and play. Anyways it's amazing if you know how to use it.

When will it be fixed? Recent update still does not fix the problem with cursor keys: Virtual keyboard is working, but not my hardware keyboard - cursor doesnt move when pressing the cursor keys. For my purpose, this emulator is useless. Tested on Samsung Tab S7 with Keyboard Bookcover DT870 from Samsung. If you're only looking to run games, this may be your choice.

While it seems that file images can only be loaded from "/builtin," I could find no such folder anywhere in my Android, and therefore could not save downloaded roms there. As a longshot I tried creating my own "/builtin" folder in the Android's internal storage and moving my .d64's there, but the app still saw only its own (otherwise invisible) folder & files πŸ€”

Really awesome emulator - just been playing my old favourite Gunfighter! Would love to see filters added such as scanlines and smoothing, it would make it 5*. Otherwise great app, recommended.

Works well. Wish it had cartridge game support. It has sound in some small sized games like dig dug but game like super pipeline sound is fine until I press fire butto to shoot sound is distorted. Please fix

best mobile c64 emulator I've found so far, but still not perfect. imo I'd like at least the option to see the whole border rather than just parts of it, and I'd like if inserting a disk without loading a file into memory was better supported. additionally, the keyboard makes it impossible to use the C= or Ctrl keys, or to use the Run/Stop + Restore shortcut.

Feels exploitive trying to capitalize on C64 emulation when there are free programs that do a better job than this which have been available for over a decade. This is a hamfisted copy of Vice, and you have to pay to "unlock" features that are freely available with other public domain options. It's unfortunate that greedy people try to profit off of the work of others.

low quality unexpected, needs to be polished. when i start the app i get on the c64 the infamous "2" or "2q", as when you fire on the joystick and this produces those output on screen, but all I have done is starting the app. I even get that when I attach a disk image: select an image and nothing starts, but on screen i see the app typed "2q". This is irritating, i have to try this over and over to do anything. Besides there is no warp mode, and no 'press space' quick option. Overall just 6/10

Pretty good. I understand the keyboard is meant to mimic how the original C64 worked, but the cursor keys are just annoying. I would much prefer to have an option between the classic C64 key layout, and a more modern layout. Something else i would like is customisable buttons, i.e. you could make a joystick and button to mimic the action of a keyboard key. But overall, great app, do recommend.

Builtin .zip-archives cannot be opened (io-stream-exceptions). Explorer (Attach disk image) doesn't list any local stored .prg/d64-files, even not after refreshing. Reinstalling the app did not solve the problems. Update 2021-06-09: .prg/d64-files got recognized when moved to the Internal storage. Re/moved the files afterwards but then they still show up in the list and cannot be opened (file not found), even after refreshing the list; at least stopping the app fixed that.

Loading downloaded games seems not too work very well. I do have an issue for the developer. I have a game that uses memory address 653 to detect the status of the shift key so shift+joystick (port 2) performs a different function than joystick alone. It works on vice and on a real c64, but this emulator doesn't seem to handle shift in the same way. Just in case someone wants to look into it.

It's interesting to go back to the C64. I was never big on the games; I wanted to program... and, unfortunately, Commodore (as much as I liked it) was among the most non-standard systems in almost everything it did: ASCII, BASIC... just about everything ;) I think that's why it never became a contender in the early days. In any case, the simplest one-line "not entirely boring" Basic program... 10 ? CHR$(RND(9)*256);:GOTO 10

I want to like this, if only I could load a game this would score 5 stars. However it gets 1 star because every single game I try to load gives the same error message: "Warning The selected image 'msf:34xx' could not be attached! The error was java.io.IOException. Could not determine the file type for the image msf:34xx". (Γ—Γ— shows a variety of numbers) 》In response to the creators comment: Sorry, now it gives a different error message but it hasn't been fixed.

Update: All three of the disk images (the floppy icons) are corrupt. The tape images load fine. Dowloaded and reinstalled twice - same effect. * At least the developer is still maintaining the app - unlike Frodo C64. *

Why on earth is the most basic function of locating your downloaded ROMs so difficult? The file browser has no option to go up a directory outside of /builtin. Shouldn't the ability to actually load ROMs, be the easiest, most straight forward part of the app?

Got this just so I can play Werewolves of London. It was a little difficult to select the game, had to place it in a certain folder for the app to recognize it. Other than that, works great!

Controls and Keyboard don't work the way they are suspose to. Keyed in programs don't run when executed. Games don't respond to controlls. Not even close to reliability of Vice 64 which is free. A waste of money and time

D pad controls not working it can be configured but doesn't respond in game. I have used joystick port 1 and using a muvit bluetooth controller on my hisense 1gb ram phone. It could be the phone is not compatible with the app.

Bluetooth controller I saw the other guy commenting about bluetooth controller issues too.I tried it myself and I can only map for up down left right and 'fire' buttons.I hope developers can change it so I will be able to map the keyboard keys.I am willing to pay for it.

My first computer was a C64 in 1983. This brings back fond memories of gaming and coding with type in programs from computer- and technology-themed books and magazines.

.. and it is still not fixed. Too bad. It was really fun while it worked...

First of all this is the only emulator which can run Graham Gooch Test Cricket. As It worked when I mistakenly touched Toggle Joystick in Menu .This emu is highly recommended by me to run Commadore 64 games as it is faster and easier to use than Vice64 on PC.Than you for making this emulator β˜ΊπŸ˜ŠπŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜„πŸ˜‰

Running this app on a Samsung Chromebook 3, the physical keyboard has a semi-colon, but it is no mapped for the app. Everything else is great.

Galaxy s21. I finally figured out how to get games running but the sound is so awful which is a shame as that's what sets the C64 apart from all the other 8bits. Is there a way to fix this? It's particularly noticeable with filters in anything Rob Hubbard or Martin Galway.

Seems OK, but how do i set up a Bluetooth controller with it. Thanks for responding. I own about 6 Bluetooth controllers not one will work. Will you be putting that into the emulator as its standard on 99% of emulators

Totally miss my commodore 64 so when I found this little gem it brought back memories

Out of the 3 C64 emulators I've tried this is the best. Old school gaming on the move, a good library of classic games. What's not to like. Takes a while to get used to, but when you do. Happy days.

It's a scam, I try it and click on find game in the too, I arrive in a website not secured with a ! At the beginning of the site . And some seconds after, I received a spam call on the cellphone I used to download the emulator and go on the website. Don't download it, I am gonna uninstal at the moment

Special keys menu item is missing. So how do I press the run/stop button? Will update to three stars and later maybe four if this issue is fixed. J7 Pro.
