Great idea, horrible execution. Test video function didn't work. Real video didn't save (just black screen). Don't trust this to record anything, it might not work at all. The "Know Your Rights" info is the only useful part of the app. But if you are trying to record video, use something that always works, not this glitchy app that kept crashing when I tried it.
Idea is great but the execution is awful. App crashes constantly, and does not give you the ability to add a report if you don't do it after submitting the video, which as the app clearly states won't be reviewed if not completed... This app needs desperately to be 100% reliable. Since it is not, there's not even any point in using it. Either fix it or delete it.
App keeps crashing. It is a wonderful idea, honestly, but it keeps crashing on me. I read several reviews about it crashing so I wanted to test it. I was able to record a short test video, but it crashed on me multiple times. I hope they work in some stability updates, because this is a very important app.
I can't play back my own videos in the app. On my phone, the files are just 1KB. I can't be sure they're receiving videos that can be watched. That said, I watched the data usage and about a minute of video seemed to use up 20MB of data. This needs fixed. Right now I have no trust that this works.
The latest version does not work. I'm having the same problem as the other commenters, app crashing on startup. However, I installed an older version that I have and it works fine. I'll update my review to 5 stars when this bug is worked out because I believe the ACLU is doing good work that benefits us all.
Fantastic idea! Permits user to input trusted contact phone numbers and select state. Then, if one records with this app, the video is sent to those trusted persons and to a state ACLU representative. I have no way to verify it really works, and no debug mode or test mode exists.
I would be interested in using this app except the set up stopped at "Your ACLU." It did not recognize any states other than Alaska and Alabama and would not let me select either one or save and move on to whatever screen comes next. I live in California, so I don't know what's up with that.
Awesome concept, but it's true, the app crashes constantly. I just downloaded it, filled out the settings, and then couldn't get it to work anymore Do a Kickstarter or something so we can get the funds together to fix this app.
Looked like a regular cheap camera app. Right off the bat it was slow and NOTHING like the video. The ease of use and GUI is tragic. Layout of each window and frames are horrid and have no sense of structure or organization.
I can't trust this app. I think the developer should look at this as I do, this app may some day save my life or at the least save me jail time. The idea is great but there's no telling if it's working. Both video & audio need a way to determine if there functioning properly, also to, how do you know if your actually uploading anything. Long story short, this is the only android app of it's kind I can find on playstore. I can't trust it so I'm not going to use it.
Download was smooth but I have yet to open the app. It crashes every time you hit open. I sent feedback twice. This is day 3 and it is still crashing when attempting to open.
Last updated in December 2020. You guys either have to fix this buggy, lagging app or remove it from the play store. This is too important to be unreliable. I am only being partly sarcastic that your unwillingness (not inability) to improve the app into something people can actually rely on suggests collusion with police.
Fortunately I have not had to use this app yet, however I have tested it and it seems to work really well. Following the instructions on how to keep people from opening up and deleting your video that you record is great.
Crashes during save of personal info. I downloaded this looking for an app to record with the data going to cloud in case of confiscation or destruction of phone. Crashes 4 times mostly when trying to save my name and email info. Uninstalled.
Says it's sending video out even if I don't ask it to record? And I'm not sure if there's a way to even test if it's working or not. Great idea, execution seems terrible
Might bea good app but... Not really clear what the first phone number slot is for? Trying to find the mobile justice listing took a bit, finally figured out it's the "i" icon, geez, Put a button on top of screen just for this. It needs a whole YouTube video to show how to work this thing... and maybe a practice mode. Not intuitive at all, I sure couldn't do this if I needed it right away! Guess dev is too close to the app to tell how unfriendly it is.
