This app used to be a very efficient way to stay updated while on the go, but now the app functions poorly. It does not allow you to use the free version because it continually kicks you out of blackboard to buy the extended version. It is extremely disappointing, since this app has great potential, but is losing its credibility as a useful blackboard tool. Strongly advise to not download the app.
The interface isnt intuitive, its slow, and this app isnt available on all devices. I have had it on my tablets and the iphone I had before I switched to Windows phones. Its not available for my Windows phone at all and the website version isn't compatible with small screens. I've never gotten updates for new content in any of my classes. The only reason I have it is because I have to download PowerPoints and convert them to Snotes on my tablet and this app gives the fastest access.
I had no problems with this app until it forced me to log back into my school account. It keeps loading but it does not ever log me back in. I reinstalled the app over a dozen times after that but now it can't even find my school. Bottom line, every step of the way, I can never get past an ever continous loading arrow.... please fix this issue
This app was great,but for some reason it no longer works. According to the app my university does not allow access through the app..but I know for a fact it does. It is listed on the app but it takes me back to the set up each time i input my log in details. Very disappointing and annoying as i have wasted 15 minutes of my life trying to get it working
Very little about this app is praiseworthy. The interface is slow to respond with long load times, even over 50 Mbps WiFi. Your ability to view assignments or announcements is akin to hitting the bullseye of a dart board, sometimes you get lucky. For a program as ubiquitous to education as Blackboard this app is an utter embarrassment.
Sometimes recognizes my password and let's me in but majority of time it doesn't and keeps saying 'login failed' when I was on earlier. Don't offer a product if you can't get it to work consistently. IF you do get on most of the links don't work.. just sits there thinking. Fix it or get rid of the app! Have some pride in your product for crying out loud.
I just started online classes and thanks to this app, I can use my phone like a laptop. I haven't had any of the issues mentioned in these reviews. If you can make the content more customizable and fix the the threads on the blogs so they don't go back to top after you read each one, I'll give 5 stars.
Blackboard itself is terrible in comparison to other learning management systems. To try to make students purchase access to what we get for free through our institution, because they pay tens if not hundreds of thousands for us to have access, is absurd. Especially considering I don't even know what I'm getting since there is no trial. Immediately uninstalled.
My institute used this. It is very convenient whenever i forgot to carry my notes into class or i could check my assignments immediately without switching on my computer. While I'm enjoying these , i found it auto log out sometimes. It took me another little while to log in. Please fix this
App loops around every time I try to login, the once I do get in I don't know how long it will be till it logs me out. Once logged out have to keep trying to get back in. Also crashes on occasion when trying to access certain areas, always at the exact same places.
Every time I try to reload or change settings, it goes really slow just showing the circle thing. I sign out and sign back in and that doesn't help either. I also don't get any notifications. It never let's me know if something has been graded, added, or anything that I should get a notification for. I tried to check my settings and it never loaded. Its not a problem with the connect to internet. Very frustrating.
If you are an educational institution looking for a software solution to course management, please do not use blackboard. As a committed student this app has been detrimental to my productivity and has brought more harm than good. It is extremely error prone. Non functional. Horribly inconsistent. If you are an student who is being forced to use this app, I encourage you to inform your teachers and professors of the struggles blackboard has caused. Enough is enough.
Yes I can check this online but I like the whole app feel to this. Its easy to navigate and everything is there. Of course my school doesn't provide this app for free but 1.99 isn't bad and it won't hurt me financially so I don't mind to be a tester for this app. But yeah I totally recommend this app for you guys. My phone is a galaxy s5 boostmobile/sprint
I use multiple devices for school, so accessing all my class docs through this app is convenient. However, some parts of the user experience feel incomplete. Pressing the back button on my Note4, for instance, does not scroll backwards through the previously visited pages in the app, but sends me all the way back to the opening screen to select an institution again. Some documents just won't open on my mobile phone. A reply and improvement to those issues will warrant an updated review.
Half the time, I'm unable to logon to my account with no meaningful notification as to the reason. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app allows me to logon, but that also seems to be hit and miss - 50 percent of the time I still can't logon. Whenever I reinstall the app, half the time my institution is missing from the list. When I finally contacted Blackboard support, I was directed to contact my own institution for assistance after several days of waiting.
This is my first time using Blackboard & it's hard to navigate on this app & in my computer. I'm 19 and I'm not a technology expert, but I can operate Microsoft office 2013 really well, especially when I scored a 104 in that class. Update: the app has gotten better. I must say it did took a while to get used to.
Update: Samsung Note 4 I had a very difficult time with this application continuously freezing up or not loading. It appears that the developers have finally listened and improved this app as it has not frozen or had loading issues for 6 months. I only went up to three stars because it doesn't remember that I've already viewed items in discussion board, grated topics Etc.
The use of this app is very frustrating as the same processes can be done on the much more reliable Web site. Downloading lectures for PowerPoint will render your phone in a loop of continuous downloads of the lecture as blackboard will be unable to change to a diffrent window. Not a fan of this app.... much needed improvements need to suit a university students life style...
It's rather useful and I no longer have to use my laptop to access whatever I need on Blackboard. My only complaint is that I have no way of knowing if I have course messages as the app doesn't alert me when I have received any. As I usually only use the app, I never know if I have messages. It would be awesome if in a future update the possibility of getting push notifications when you have a course message could be considered.
i can't say that how unusable app this is , it's interface is very bad , and not at all user friendly, you have to login every time you open this app just like a website, even there we can save password but here such no things , i can say that must not be in apps , because there will be a no difference in app and websites if you will not provide single login function in an app , also in the interface if something's on discussion it will show that thing in tool notifications, and many other notification too
This app does basically nothing that you can't do by using BB through a browser. Notifications absolutely don't work. You have to sign in every time you use it, that is if it's working that day. Otherwise, it's exactly like using the browser version, except with more errors! Don't waste your money, or time on this scam! Nexus 4 user
Ap is ok but it always asks me to log in again. I feel like thats a bit annoying. Just keep me logged in. And now i can't even log in, keeps looping back to login page. Just makes me not bothet using it because its unpredictable whether it will work today or not.
The point of the app is to provide convenience, but it's easier and more time efficient to use a mobile web browser for BlackBoard. Certain areas of the site are inaccessible on the app, it doesn't remember credentials and makes you type in your info every time you log on, and the widget just flat out doesn't work. I really wish they'd improve this app, it could be ever so useful. Luckily, I was never asked to pay for it, or I'd be piiiiissed.
Honestly, I'm surprised there hasn't been more development of this app. It has so many issues. Loading times and errors are all too common. sometimes I just want to check a discussion board because I am short on time and it would be quicker to start up my computer than to have one page load on this app.
When the app works it's great. However, most of the time I get stuck in an endless log in loop. Where it will ask for my username and password. It will then go to the next screen where I can select my school. Then will go back to asking for username and password. Then asks for me to select my school. There's no rhyme or reason to when or why it does this. It has done this for over a year. But now is getting worse since the last update.
