Mobile Link for Generators

Extremely poor quality control. Something breaks after nearly every update. Right now, the app won't start. It quits while trying to connect. Useless. Now, they have started to remove features, such as the generator exercise schedule, and charging a premium for them. Nickle and dimeing customers who already paid a premium price for the generator isn't a good idea.

Didn't get text or email today after generator exercise time. Opened Mobile Link app; found that I had to log back in. Checked generator status, exercised OK. Noted that firmware had updated 6 days ago, so that is good. An automatic notification text and email about firmware update would have been nice, though. Also, the original Wifi setup was tricky, so I'm giving only "4 stars" for the Mobile Link app. , But otherwise, I LOVE my Generac generator itself, and I give that 5 stars!

Two different apps for setup and operations. this is the operatiosn one that gives very little info unless you pay for a subscription. I already paid more for the generator to have wifi and mobile link. no mention of the subscription fee until you buy, install and set up. THEN you're informed of additional fees. This app doesn't really matter because the set up app is garbage, constantly saying the password is incorrect for the wifi network, no help online either. Don't waste time or money on mobile link garbage, buy a generator that doesn't have it, no point in paying the extra for something that doesn't add value.

The app works very well with the features it provides. I am looking forward to future added features. Alert messages sent to my cellular phone when power goes off would be a valuable improvement to Mobile Link.

This app only works about 75% of the time if that. Tells me I'm not connected to wi-fi when infact I am and all my other devices are working fine. Never had issues before until updates were installed. Not happy with this app.

Hey thanks for that new update, now the generator won't connect with my app. Great work guys!! Spoke to two reps neither could help me. So now every night around 10:00pm or so I lose Wi-Fi connection to the Gen. Every other device in my house is fine. I wake up the next morning and the Wi-Fi is mysteriously connected again to the generac. I was told it has nothing to do with the update to the app, I don't believe it. This only started happening after the most recent update. Disgusted.

I hope the generator is better than the app. Got a text saying I "have a new message". Link in the text gives me a 403 error and when I open the app I get the logo screen for a few minutes and then it goes to a swirling " connecting to mobile link" for a few minutes before it crashes. I would not recommend a generac generator or the app if they can't make the simple technology sync. Garbage.

I think the Mobile Link app is a wonderful tool that provides a wide range of information regarding the generator. I really like all of the features that it provides, but, it is only optimized for a cell phone and does not allow for landscape viewing on a tablet. Other than that one issue, I think that everyone should use the app.

Pretty bad so far. Generator was installed and activated months ago. Finally get the WiFi board and have to go through the setup process again only to find that my very expensive generator requires a subscription if I actually want to use the app for anything.

When trying to access account with this app, wouldn't progress beyond address entry page; couldn't enter manually and app seems to have address "search" function that didn't work. I'd established account when I registered generator and was able to complete wifi activation and communication with generator online. The whole process of generator registration, activation, and wifi setup seems overly complex and buggy compared to other electronics (e.g. cell phone, smart TV, etc.).

I have received texts and emails that I have a message in the app. The app will not open. I'm sure the message has to do with the recent storm in the east, where my beloved generator ran for 59 hours like a champ! I have closed the app, cleared the cache, force stop, uninstalled and re-installed. Nothing works! Please fix this app! This isn't the first time I've had problems. This is definitely the only weak link in having a new Generac generator.

March 14, 2022 update. Looks like the last update a month ago fixed all the crashing issues. At least I know what it is doing when I gone. You get no more than 3 stars due to all the grief your updates caused. Jan 9 - I have the latest version and it still takes 3 attempts toget it to open. Dec 19 just updated the app and it still crashes and will not open. Great job - NOT. **********Do not know what you did with your update but the app no longer starts. Not that it does much anyway

Disappointing experience. We recently purchased a generac whole house standby generator and when we did the mobile link app was not working properly. The technician set the app up on my smartphone and a week or so later it began working and would supply a generator status anytime I would open it. Lately the app will no longer open it just simply opens and then closes again with no status given. This is very disappointing especially when I am not at home and like to keep an eye on things remotel

This isn't an app, just a web page with an embedded browser of its own. Why have an app? Just give us a web site or make a real app. We can't audit the securityof this invisible browser and where my user/pwd is going.

Not enough value for paid service, and free selection is not available. Deleting this as a waste of time and storage space.

App crashes once or twice before finally opening. It's annoying, but still useable. I echo the sentiments of others who also wish to be able to see more information about the generator. Also, am no longer getting app notifications, despite them being allowed. *And now it's not working at all

Where's the update? I see in your responses that there should be an update to Mobile Link, but I'm not seeing one has been done (auto-update is on). Received the email yesterday that services were restored, but mine is still auto-closing after I try to open it. As for before this started happening, I liked the app. Worked well and gave me the information I needed to know.

After 3 weeks still can't get app to work. Gen says hooked to my wifi with 86% signal. Even shows my network address. Still when and if the app opens it says disconnected. Very disappointed in this with this being my 2nd gen thought it would be nice to have it hooked up to see what it's doing. They say down the current version 2.14.1 but where do you do that? I have 2.14.0, I have tried updating, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still don't have the version they tell you to try.

Disappointed. I installed the app but it will not allow me to add my generator, despite multiple attempts. I've called the support line a few times, ended up leaving a message, no response (4 months ago). Recently received a message that the app was updated, so I tried again. Still unable to add my generator to the app.

It does what I wanted. A LAN based tool would be more reliable where I live but I may find it doesn't matter.

Reliable and dependable backup power in every instance of commercial power outage and the app let's you know what is going on.

it's a great app, notification when your away from home and there is a power failure and automatically kicks on. let's you know when its exercising also keeps a running log history on starting, stopping and total hours run time. highly recommended!

Update: 1/6/22 Got email from app saying that I had a message but updated app won't open! Good thing they can do generators cause they can't do apps Almost useless! This app is a disappointment after reading the advertisements. It basically tells you 3 thing- generator status, battery status, and hours of operation.

Lacks email/text notifications that gen is running. Received email telling me I have a new message in Mobile Link. The link to the message in the email does not work. I tried to open the app and it will not open. Very disappointing.

It quit working as of today. Received an email that I had a message and it won't retrieve it either on the app or online. I deleted the app, reinstalled it, logged on and nothing. It just spins. It used to work fine but not now.

Edit 1/6/22. App will no longer open at all. Latest version, uninstalled and reinstalled. Android 12, S21. Useless. Same experience as other reviewers. App crashes constantly and won't display generator data when you do get it to run. It used to be useful but is now useless. Generac obviously doesn't care.
