Mobile Observatory - Astronomy

Trying to not be critical of the publisher's chosen update path, this version 2 paid app has been good to me. I don't use it on a regular basis so the price seemed a bit steep for a mobile app but I bit the bullet, however I can't see myself doing the same again for a version that only had an updated database of objects more or less. The nag screen can be disabled but should have never been an update to the former paid version to my mind.

I mostly love the app, but a) the directional accuracy is horrible. Off by 6-20 degrees every time . I always use a Samsung Galaxy Note phone, and other compass-oriented apps have an average 4 degree +/- deviation and b) live view switches constantly, randomly, and seemingly without prompt to sky view. There are other little things, but those two are extremely disruptive, especially for being tools meant to enhance an activity where you should spend most of your time observing the sky instead of ***ing around with a recalcitrant app.

I, too, don't like to rent software that is crippled by subscription fees. I bought this app with the understanding that updates would have been included, not that I'd have to buy the app again and again whenever the developer chooses to name it something else. So, instead of buying the "pro" version, I'll be uninstalling it. I just invested my money into Star Walk 2 which requires no additional subscription fees to get all of its features.

I bought this app quite a few years ago, with the understanding I wouldn't have to pay for updates, but it looks like I may have to pay for upgrade. This is an amazing app/program and well worth the price evem if you have to pay for upgrades! You pay for quality and that is exactly what Mobile Observatory 2 has been for years QUALITY.

I have been playing with this app for about a week now and while I haven't actually had the app under the stars with my scope yet to determine it's star chart accuracy in terms of spacing and brightness so i can "star hop" accurately, it does appear to be fairy accurate with my paper charts. If it indeed turns out that way it'll be much easier to have all this info in one place instead of pages and pages of charts. With all the options on this app is really is a fairy powerful program.

I'm very happy with this app. The data is kept up to date with regular updates of the object database. The functionality is just right for a beginner/amateur astronomer. The only thing that might be nice to have with the object set are satellites. Be careful using outdoors :)

I have emailed this developer numerous times concerning upgrading to his new version. There is no documentation on their website, or discussion forums, that covers my very simple question. But yet, they refuse to answer just one simple question. If this is an example of the support available when I actually purchase the product and need help, I'll pass. Terrible support.

Pretty good but no sats or 'space junk' + the interface is too bulbous and a bit of a waste of space. I would prefer a better specified app while dumping the educational-style graphics/interface. You could make a separate version app for newbies and school students.

This is a great app for anyone who's interested in astronomy. It will share you where celestial objects are in real time, real-time sunset time and sunrise time. It in forms you on what phase the moon is in at the moment, and what days it will change its phases. It what you move through our solar system in real time. With you ability to zoom in on planet moons or just click on them and get info about the object.

I have been using this app for years. I have used plenty of software and I own a $40 astronomy app too. I own plenty of books and star charts. For your average joe and a majority of people owning a telescope, this app has more than enough features and is significantly easier to use. A star chart on paper is nice, more expensive apps have more depth. This app is much more user friendly and just enough for a majority of people. I use it most, love it. Worth every penny I spent and then some.

I am new (again) to astronomy, looking for help, I found this app, and the reviews were good so I bought it, thankfully I was not disappointed. I spend a lot more time exploring the app features, probably due to my lack of experience, but it is fun and interesting. I think its way undervalued, but then if it cost more I may not have tried it. HIGH recommendations from an old retired low tech guy! The more I use this app, the more I like it.

Absolutely Scam. I paid full version like 2 years ago, and now, without any notice, it became a free version with ads, and pushing me to pay for the full version again!!!! Google should take action on this!!!!

I rate it only 4 stars because your close up on Stars is not very real. The photos are still as apposed to really moving. Great example: Solarwalk 2. Otherwise your app is excellent. Very detailed.

Very nice program, but sometimes it doesn't work on my cheapo tablet. I got a Samsung, and this app works better. Unfortunatly for me my Samsung doesn't have a compass, so I cannot use the "live view" feature.

This app is a treasure trove of all things and then some pertaining to astronomy. There is so much on this app that I am on a steep learning curve to take it all in and loving every minute of it. Enclosing these guys work really hard to keep this app updated like nearly on a weekly basis, so whether you are a professional or amateur like me this is definitely the app for you.

Bummer! I love this app it's very informative and educational. I definitely realized how much I didn't know about space. The only real bummer is that I just purchased this app about a month ago and now the upgrade came out. Which means that I just bought something old and outdated. that really bums me out 😮

Live View is an amazing feature for amateurs and professionals alike. Realistic representations and perfect positioning of objects provides an excellent learning tool for those seeking to discover what is in the night sky.

Detailed and rather complex. Reasonable permissions. Lacks ISS function. Website loading and navigation is slow. Developer doesn't respond to correspondence. Decent value on sale.

Sometimes at night I gaze into the sky, see something and want to know what it is. This is the easiest app I've found for doing this. Also, while looking at this app, there are tons of other things it shows and teaches me a lot about, how everything works out there and what's coming up next for me to watch. If you're interested in the night sky, this app is a lot of fun.

An excellent balance between including a lot of valuable astrometric data, while still allowing quick and easy reference. A joy to use.

Great app just to tool around in the back yard as well as some serious telescope work. seems to be updated frequently with new charts and various info. great for the space nerd

I seem to be having a difficult time accessing a feature of the app I used before: a real time map of the sky when I point my device at it.

This is a great and truly complete app. Will support the novice as well as the truly hard core observer. Well done and complete. thank you for your hard work.

this app is not supported , not working smoothly to view. get starwalk 2 instead you will get daily notifications of events and updates for free. no subs needed for it.

Very capable app with many features that you can add, depending on your interests. Very intuitive and easy to use.
