***FAQS***

Why does Mobiwol No Root Firewall show as if using a VPN connection?

This is superficial. We've used technology available to us from within the VPN packaging module offered by Android to be able to gain visibility to your applications' network activities and apply firewall rules without having to ask for root permissions like other Android Firewall apps. However, no actual VPN connection is being made, no data is being sent externally by our application, and we do not tamper with the security of your personal data, so you can continue using your apps with peace of mind, and confidence that you will not end up with a higher than usual data bill at the end of the month.

----------------------

Why Can't I accept the VPN Prompt?

You will need to select the checkbox first and then the button becomes enabled. If you are having problems selecting the checkbox, it is likely that you have another app that creates an overlay on the active screen that is preventing you from selecting the checkbox.

These two threads explain the problem further and give some examples of apps that do this-

----------------------

Why does Mobiwol top the data usage chart?

It’s an illusion. Mobiwol uses your device’s VPN package to create a firewall. As every data packet sent or received by your apps passes through the VPN, all the incoming and outgoing data traffic gets attributed to Mobiwol.

The good part, however, is that Mobiwol now comes with its own Data Usage feature which allows you to check data usage for each app. To view the usage, choose Data Usage from the home screen.

I use it for ad blocking, it's extremely easy to use, but it constantly crashes. By constantly I mean once or twice a day, enough to get seriously annoyed. It has a handy icon on top when on but you have to remember to check for it before you open an app. If you forget, you find out when you get bombarded by ads. And it's not easy to turn it back on either. There's no shortcut appearing after installation, I have to use my phone's search function to open it again. Overall 5 stars without issues, 3 stars as they are there

I only use it to block ads in one mobile game and well, it works. Lost 2 stars because it is CONSTANTLY freezing and crashing, and the exception rules don't work. It blocks both mobile data and wifi whether I want it or not, and cuts the connection for ALL apps whether I've ticked them on or off. The freezing and crashing has been going on way too long, really needs to be fixed. It freezes nearly every time I use it, maybe 9/10 times. And crashes at least once a week.

Tried a bunch of other firewalls, this was the only one that worked correctly and consistently. Works on new and old devices. I was even able to use it to restrict data usage on my kids cheap smart watch. Also I love that it has a whitelist feature, so you can restrict data for all apps except the few you want to be able to access data, like find my phone.

It can't tell the difference between mobile data and wifi. I tested this with Mobile data turned on and Wifi turned off (on my phone). I then ran Mobiwol and set an app to WiFi connection only, with data and background data disallowed. I ran the app and it still connected to the Internet via Mobile Data. Additionally, it appeared in the Connection Log as "WiFi" yet my phone Wifi wasn't even turned on. This bug basically makes the app unusable at this point. Running on Android 9.

initially found this app very helpful, but have noticed that it has not been updated since beginning 2018, more than a year ago. secondly, have noticed that it has been seriously slowing down the access to web, even many times preventing me connecting to wifi network. changed to different noroot firewall, and far fewer dropped connections. so have uninstalled app

Outstanding... when it works. My install crashes dozens of times per day. Once the "wol" is down, all the background apps and usage kick back on again. The app restarts, but doesn't notify you that it did. So you have to guess whether or not you're protected.

What's the point of a firewall if the firewall provider collects, transmits, and shares all information going through it? Both the Privacy Policy and EULA state it outright. Specific apps get blocked from accessing the internet directly, but they do so through this app. Now 100% of your personal and non personal data is given to this app and still makes it to it's final destination. Basically, what this app appears to do is nothing except trick you into allowing it to collect ALL of your data.

This firewall is not effective. It often crashes, so then I have to restart it manually. Sometimes I won't notice for a few hours or days that it's not running, so during that time I'm connected directly to the internet without a firewall. I switched to NoRoot Firewall and it works flawlessly.

Same as everyone else, trying to use this to block ads. Tried everything, including clearing app cache but ads still pass through. EDIT: Restarting the phone actually fixed it, same with any other firewall app out there. Now that it sctually works i can say it's decent but "no root firewall" is superior.

This app has stopped working. i have given full access permission to apps nothing works. all apps are being blocked access to the internet??? Cannot send feedback even with firewall off. If firewall is on nothing connects to the internet even with specific permissions. App has locked up again but even worse

it's a great app and gives me full control to phone internet usage no more data leakage no more annoying ads but unfortunately it can't stand running for several hours it crashes and need to be restarted continuously... great effort development team but it needs a little bit more I'm using another app now not as geat as Mobiwol but stable. and I'm waiting for the Mobiwol update

I really like this app when it comes to closing doors on apps. That way other apps won't run unless opened, but I stuck with the one for android 4. At least the one I managed to mod. The thing about the newer version is that it asks for accessibility permissions and it seem to work for itself from there. I just don't trust updated apps as much as the old school apps from android 4. @MO5TKNOWN

The only reason I am downloading this is to throttle my device's bandwidth to not reach ISPs to throttle limit so my connections and web requests don't keep dropping. If they could make that limiter it's own app, like netlimiter for windows desktops, I would definitely purchase. That way I can assign each mobile app the bandwidth it's allowed to use. Just a suggestion. Regards, JT

Good work. I can easily block all incoming and outgoing traffic on data and WiFi both, then selectively allowing apps that i need to connect to the cloud Is there such a software developed for Windows 7 also ?

Dan. D. Jan 2, 2019

works okay, but sometimes it stops running. if i launch the app once it's running, it freezes my phone until the operating system tells me that it crashed and i can select to force close it.

Hak. M. Jan 4, 2019

It works, but it keeps crashing. Just write now while writing this review it popped up saying Mobiwol unexpectedly stopped closed and sometimes yoy simply cannot open the app at all, getting stuck at a grey screen. I'm on android oreo with a Zenfone 4 Max. It otherwise does as advertised, but these crashes are a huge issue.

Eventhough every setting for an app is switched off and all permissions granted to Mobiwol - the apps still connect to the internet. How is this even possible since I restricted all connections?? Mobiwol has therefore failed me. Uninstalling.

A. G. u. Feb 6, 2019

Too many permissions. First screen before you can use is the privacy policy and it talks about collecting data about you. No explanation why every single permission is required. So no thanks

A. G. u. Dec 17, 2018

I've just installed it, seems to do most of its job. Wish there was a way to view all apps with data usage permissions at the top of the apps list.

Aar. M. Mar 26, 2019

Fantastic. I use it for blocking ads on mobile games you don't need internet access to and its worked perfectly. Very easy to use too.

Calling all LG users and peeks with hot phones that steal data and fry your battery! Download this and Greenify. To cool down phone and save your data! No nosey data/ phone company dictatorship! Then download Ram Truth too see for yourself! Put this app as a start up for your boot up, restart phone and give permission quickly. Google/ data stealers don't like to be cut off from peeking into your business.😉

The logs is always empty althou I applied many rules of blocking, also can't stop one Application from using the internet, must select all background all foreground. Pls fix that. thanks

I have been using this fine firewall for a week now, on my Android device and I have it set to start up along with the device. It is a truly great no root firewall, and I highly recommend this

Kel. J. Sep 15, 2019

This is a firewall apparently? But THEY want access to all your information - Just look at all the permissions they want! Well, they know where they can go - There are plenty of other Firewalls that don't.

r. w. Nov 12, 2019

Crashed on Pie and disabled VPN automatically. Some apps can pass thru this firewall but they didn't show up in the app list of this firewall.
