When I select to add another module, there is no way of going back to the keyboard. It's stuck on that screen, no buttons to select... Nothing! Only thing I can do is select back on my device.... Which then closes the app all together. Such a shame because the easysynth is fantastic. This has a massive flaw rendering it useless unless Im happy just playing the pre-sets.. which I'm not. I want to add modules & experiment, that's what this app is all about.
This app is excellent and support from developer is great. Very low latency on a modern, mid-class device and works with MIDI and audio interfaces simultaneously via OTG. Can also use MIDI when Android device connected to a host which allows for powering device also. User interface is simple and intuitive and sound quality is good. There is room for improvement but developer responds to feedback and delivers bug fixes and enhancements promptly. An extensive set of modules gives a lot of flexibility. The free version is great but for just a little cash you get a lot more features and contribute towards improving the app further. I tried most similar apps and this is the best in its class. Caustic is similarly good but has a different feature set, so I bought both.
This is a wonderfully rich tool for creative exploration. I use it regularly in gigs as a secondary sound source. There're some shortcomings, of course - not very sleek, workman-like UI; unpredictable buffer hick-ups when doing self-modulating patches with extreme values; parameter values could be labeled in more contextually relevant way (instead of 0-100); which keeps it from being straight 5*. Still, very worthwile and powerful for a phone app.
Great app. This is a great app for making leads, pads, basses, soundscapes and even whole songs. I have but two complaints, the filter's resonance is really hard to tame and the fact that reverb is a paid feature. Other than that fantastic app and well worth the five dollars!
ModSynth offers a shocking amount of depth for a synth that runs a phone. It's a truly wonderful synth that doesn't compromise on quality of sound or capability. I've been using soft modulars for 18 years, but have never seen an implementation of polyphony in modular that worked so well as Modsynth.
A great way to explore sound without needing 3,500 pounds of gear & 17 miles worth of cable. Even the starter pack has tons of potential. Would love to learn the full version but so far it has frozen/reset my phone (G8 ThinQ) several times. Any thoughts? Thanks
Has potential but the UI needs work. Didnt get too much into it because I couldn't get modules to link together. If I can't figure basic functionality out intuitively, i don't have time for the app.
OMG finally found something I can plug my EWI-USB into!!! Setting breath control CC to control amp volume is super easy. <3333 Still exploring but so far $5 is a steal considering I've been looking for a solution for years.
Just what I was trying to find. Connecting modules took a while to figure out. I wish port names showed up after being connected. My favorite builtin instrument to mess with is formant.
this synth is very awesome but the resonance is kinda harsh and noisy but other than that very intuitive I learned it in an instant and the presets really help with learning totally recommend this to anyone who is into music
Stunning! This is the kind of future electro folk computer music tool that Kraftwerk, Devo, and the Human League wrote songs about! Audio and MIDI performance is responsive with my cheap battery powered Behringer UMA25s keyboard (integrated USB audio/midi interface) with an OTG cable to drive a $200. Asus tablet. Has among the lowest latency of all the music tools I use on Android. Very playable and rather Punk. Don't expect Arturia, Reason or Caustic's style of modular synthesis or GUI style. ModSynth is more like going under the hood of Reaktor, and more so reminds me of Digidesign's 'Turbosynth' Mac synthesis program from the early 90's - except ModSynth is realtime and playable without having to render, save, load and key map into SampleCell or other sampler. ModSynth has been well supported with new features added over time, and I just discovered the free Windows VST plugin that loads ModSynth patches. Adds further to the TurboSynth vibe! With a cost less than a box of floppy disks - fantastic!
Dope. Automatically connects to The Metronome by Soundbrenner when MIDI is on, which instantly blocks the keyboard even though it isn't one. Otherwise super cool, I'm gonna have fun.
I've been using easysynth for quite some time. Believe me, if you are new to modular synthesis or cannot afford the modules(like me)...here is a nice substitute. Carry on dev...looking forward to see more such apps in near future.
It's lots of fun experimenting and creating synth patches with this app's visual editor. Works great with my Akai EWI USB controller or a regular MIDI keyboard.
Everything has worked very well so far. This is a great modular synth app for coming to grips with how patches work.
Fun! NB: I'm not a professional musician, but this app is fun to play with. The engineer in me loves the "flowchart" layout and how one just clicks-on an element to adjust its parameters.
Excellent! Exactly what I was looking for!!!! GL dynamic environment and too comfortable for infinite improvisation! Great work!
Awesome app! Contemplating getting the full version, only hesitant as I'm already trying to unplug from the Digital World, so... Good luck with that, right? LOL
The Ui is ugly and it doesnt have much of a DAW intergrated for making music and 5 dollars seems steep for the full version. Waiting on a sale. The full version might be better idk if its worth 5 tho
Keyboard immediately disappeared, leaving me with nothing to work with. I opened closed multiple times, same thing.
Doesn't do anything!!! No onscreen keyboard, no response to midi, just a pointless screen and a button to buy the full version... Pretty stupid app... Deleted!
the whole keyboard/keys/app freezes up when output cord is placed into auxillary port. cannot be used with amp or computer
5 minute and you win my appreciation. Amazing tool. Everycircuit for music. Genius.
Very very bad its stupid and it looks like it came from 1950 bo matter you add or remove something the sound doesnt change ... i don't recommend this at all !!
Great synth. Works well with Arturia Keystep. Would give 5 stars but the record function doesn't work on my OnePlus 6.
Pretty much like 3x oscilator plugin in FL Studio but more advanced. Great job
I can't buy it(service connection disconnected) and I can't record anything
For the discriminating synthesizer creator/player, this thing is very impressive and the sounds are excellent. I thought I had an issue with the output through headphones and the developer got right on it to resolve an issue I should have noticed (nothing to do with the app at all). Anyway, because you have to "patch" modules together to make noises/sounds/music, this may not be everyone' cup of tea (in which case I can highly recommend the developer's other app, Easy Synth), but, for me, most of the fun lies with experimenting on patching the various modules in different ways. And the sounds I have been able to create are insane in the best way possible.
