Charming little game, but disappointingly short. I wish there would've been more levels since the game mechanics were interesting and occasionally quite trippy. Although the main game was good, it didn't feel complete without the outstanding extra levels which were better than the rest. The music, art and the overall vibe reminded me of ABZÛ and Journey to which I applaud for – Made me feel right at home. Overall, the game's enjoyable and I hope to play (hopefully more challenging) MV2 soon :)
I love the game so much, it will entertain anyone who plays it. My favorite part is of course the insane creativity in the way the world can move and how each level can hold something more impressive. The only reason it's not 5 stars is after buying the second set of levels, I think the game would feel much more rounded if they were part of the game without a second purchase so everyone can play them, and i also have to delete and re download it because it refuses to open sometimes.
Awesome, but too short. It took just under 2.5 hours to complete the entire game (10 levels + independent story "Ida's Dream"). You can add an additional 8 levels for $2 more - I opted not to. I would've paid more up front for ~100 levels, but I feel cheated. That said, the concept is original and interesting, challenging but not hard, and the graphics + functionality are flawless. It really is like a game made from an Escher creation. Even the music & sounds, which I usually mute, were great.
Very beautiful game! I love the idea of optical illusions to create creative puzzles. I am sad at the length of the game. I understand there's an add-on for purchase but beating a game in just under an hour is pretty saddening. Makes me not want to buy the DLC or the 2nd game because I don't want to spend the money on the same small amount of content.
Surprisingly short game. However, it was incredibly fun! Brilliant game design and concept. The art style is fun. Smooth gameplay all around and it really makes you think from a different perspective! I can't wait to play the next one! Edit: just one! A restart button would be nice instead of exiting the chapter and coming back in.
Visually, this game is so beautiful. I love the story it tells. The puzzles were not difficult that they could not be completed, they sometimes required a thoughtful pattern solving. I would love to see more puzzles that get progressively harder and tell a new story. I also wish there was the ability to save progress/pause and come back later.
Great concept, visual direction/style, and atmosphere. Most of the puzzles are pretty easy and it feels like the core game barely scratches the surface of what it could do with the main game mechanic. The bonus level and paid expansion help (I think they're better than the main game tbh), but there's still so much more that could be done. It feels like once each idea starts getting interesting/challenging, the level ends. I still had a great deal of fun with this one, overall I'd recommend it.
A fantastic puzzle game. One of the best if not the best phone puzzle game I've played. It had small elements of story to give you an excuse to keep going even when it gets tough. Throughout the whole game the visuals were just as satisfying as they looked, filled with Escher-esque structures. Check it out of you can.
As others have said, this game is absolutely fantastic! If you enjoy some of the more famous of M. C. Escher's illusionary works such as the impossible waterfall, you'll appreciate the game's art and mechanics even more! Of course, it is still a delightful puzzle game challenging you to continually adjust your perspective, similar to Shift. It's a short game, but I still felt it was worth the purchase price after completing it, and more levels are available in-app.
This game is pretty good all told. It has a gorgeous aesthetic, which even ties into the puzzle difficulty at times, and a weird, but engaging little story. Honestly, my biggest complaint is that it's so short - just ten levels. And maybe I'm just good at puzzles, but each level only took a few minutes or so... I enjoyed this, it was mildly challenging, but for a $5+ game I expect more. Just to play 8 more levels, you have to pay more! If the levels weren't as good as they are, this would be 3/5
Absolutely beautiful, and just challenging enough to also be relaxing. I have never been more pleased with a mobile game. This really shows that the format isn't limited to shovelware and puzzle games that are nigh-unsolvable without watching swarms of ads or purchasing power-ups. There can be some truly worthwhile experiences in one's phone, and those of us whose phones are their most powerful gaming implement appreciate titles like this. Bravo, I'm on to the second entry.
Easily one of the best mobile games I've ever played, I've probably sat down and played this game six or seven times over the past few years. Perfectly designed, and the really creative mechanics make it a very fun and relaxing game to play when bored or on a plane. I have infinite respect to the developers just because of how well put together the game is and how they are working to provide deforestation relief. Thank you ustwo <3
(Full disclosure I hv Play Pass so game & DLC's "free" to me) Absolutely loved this game! Refreshing to play a puzzle game based on a new (to me) base concept! I've always loved puzzle games & optical illusions so twas fun to play a game that combines the 2 like this, thx! My only 'complaints' are: wish there was more/felt short & once you get the hang of it each puzzle starts to feel more like walking a path than solving a puzzle/slightly too easy, imo. Off to find & play the sequel now 🍻
Great concept, very well done. Nice nods to Escher throughout, and well-implemented 'impossible' geometry. Very challenging without being impossible. It often forces the player to discard thinking in terms of regular Euclidean geometry, yet in a very logical and consistent manner. I hope there will be many sequels.
Have you ever looked at Surrealist type paintings and thought, "This would make a cool puzzle"? If yes, then this game is for you! This is a short, but great puzzle game with really interesting mechanics! The turning mechanism is a bit wonky sometimes, but it's wonderful style and unique puzzles really makes up for it. Love this game and would love more of it!
Wow. Simply wow! This game is incredible! A truly beautiful presentation of a game. The music, game mechanics, and elegant story all mesh together to make a wonderful experience. A real breath of fresh air from the typical soulless cash-grab games normally found on mobile. Thank you, thank you!!! The Oubliette was fantastic! More, please!!!
I rarely leave reviews, but this game absolutely merits one. Arguably one of the most well-designed mobile games ever. Simple mechanics, beautiful graphics, and - most importantly - not a single ad. This is how games should be done. Kudos to the devs. I'm downloading MV 2 as I write this, and plan to buy a few of the extra packs.
Excellent narrative-puzzle game. The graphics and ambience are gorgeous. The difficulty was a bit higher than comfortable, but I managed to do all levels in the core game, except Ida's Dream. Which brings me to my only serious issue with the game. Your progress within a level is not saved. Some levels consist of 4-5 sub-levels, which can take up to half hour to do altogether. If you need/want to step away from the game before finishing the whole level, your progress is lost, and need to do all the sub-levels again.
A fun and charming forced perspective puzzle platformer with plenty of style and character. The puzzles are engaging and the aesthetics and design of the levels are great. My only criticisms are that I wish the puzzles were more challenging and the game is disappointingly short - I completed it in a single sitting in about an hour. There is also sadly no replay value. Still a fantastic game, well worth the price due to the quality, and despite the minor flaws, and absolute must-play for all.
The graphics is stunning and the way it is used to create 3D puzzles is very creative. Gameplay is very calming. However for a game the puzzles are way too easy - just trial and error will get you through each level, often on first try. Also the game is quite short for the money it costs, I completed it in less than 2 hours. I played it twice and I became more interested in the backstory, but unfortunately there is nothing much to go on, just a few cryptic remarks. Wish there was more to explore!
Pros: This is no game, this is art! Visual illusions, impossible yet seemless movements, illusion of 3rd dimension on a 2 dimensional screen, minimalist style, pastel colors, smooth animations, calming soundtrack... A beautiful experience for sure! Cons: It lacks the challenge of a usual puzzle-platformer game. It's not too easy but none of the levels are challenging. And there are so few levels to play. It takes 1-2 hours to complete everything there is. I'm not sure if it's worth the price.
Absolutely stunning. I am obsessed with this game! The visuals are mesmerising and with each new level, I am more entranced then before. There are so many little details incorporated into each geometric design, yet overall, the art is minimalistic, sophisticated and refined. I flew through the levels and I was left hungry to dive into this beautiful world once more. I loved the storyline and the characters and I am so grateful to be able to replay the levels whenever I like. It's fantastical
Very beautiful and relaxing game the puzzles are interesting gets you to thinking in a different way. Not very challenging and very short, unfortunately. I would see very little point in repeating the game, within a few rounds you would have everything memorized. There are not very many levels. The story is vague and simplistic as well. If I had known it was this short I wouldn't have spent the money on it, if it was a freebie with some ads or only a buck or two maybe, but otherwise no.
Very atmospheric, beautiful graphics, good gameplay, relaxing and stimulating at the same time. The process of completing each puzzle is very satisfying and the soundtrack compliments it well. Downside is it's only 10 levels and lacks any real challenge. Finished the whole thing in maybe an hour, with maybe 5 net minutes of any struggle. Still, $4/$5 for an hour of pleasure is far frome a terrible deal, but you can get a lot more out of many free apps.
Probably the most elegant mobile game I've ever played in terms of both artistic and gameplay design. The puzzles are engaging without being overbearing and the games audio and visuals create an experience that is nothing short of relaxing. The free base version of the game is excellent and the additional content, while brief, is worth it if you enjoyed the atmosphere and puzzles.
I haven't smiled this much at a game in a long time. The gameplay is fun and innovative, the music and sound design are lovely, and the characters are adorable to look at. This whole game breathes style, and it's great to see that some creators still have artistic vision these days. It's short, but not woefully so, and the ending was satisfying and poignant. Plus if you tap on the birds they do a little caw. Easily one of the best games I've played on my phone in a long time.
This is, by far, one of the most unique puzzle games I've ever played. Each level plays with different perspectives and optical illusions, and combined with the soothing soundtrack and gorgeous graphics, this game is definitely worth the money. No paywalls here, but there is an additional purchase for $1.99 that gives you 8 more levels to play, which I would also recommend. With play pass, both the game and extra levels are free. I'm not big on games that cost money, but this one is worth it.
This game was beautiful. The puzzles aren't exceptionally challenging, the longest took maybe 20 minutes, but they're just challenging enough to not get bored. I purchased the DLC in addition and my total game time was maybe 4 hours at most. The mechanics are intuitive and fluid the soundtrack is suited to the game environment, and all told the roughly $6 I spent was way better than going to a movie.
The game is very cleverly designed but it doesn't make the player feel clever. Puzzled are extremely obvious / spoonfed. There are only ten levels, and only on the 10th and final level did I feel like I had to think for a moment. The game looks nice, and is clever, and has an interesting concept, but it doesn't push that concept to any puzzles that would be difficult solutions for the player.
