MoodMission - Cope with Stress, Moods & Anxiety

MoodMission helps you learn new and better ways of coping with stress, low mood, depression, and anxiety. Tell MoodMission how you’re feeling and it will give you a tailored list of 5 Missions that can help you feel better and improve your wellbeing.

Missions are mental health strategies that are quick, easily achievable, and backed up by scientific evidence, including:
★ Mindfulness meditations
★ Relaxation
★ Exercise and fitness activities
★ Affirmations and coping statements
★ Behavioural activation
★ Yoga
★ Gratitude
And heaps of other proven mood boosting activities.

It's a simple as doing a Mission and boosting your mood.

MoodMission is based in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which is an evidence-based psychological therapy for anxiety and depression. Anyone can use MoodMission, whether you just want a lift in your day or need a bit more help recovering from anxiety or depression.

A randomised controlled trial has shown that MoodMission can improve mental health and wellbeing (Bakker et al., 2019), and two other studies published in scientific journals have provided further support (Bakker & Rickard, 2019; Bakker et al., 2018). Randomised controlled trials are the gold standard of scientific evidence, and very few available mental health apps have RCT support (Firth et al., 2018).

Completing Missions earns you rewards in the app, motivating you to take steps towards becoming healthier, happier, and more confident. Plus a Mission log helps you track your progress over time.

MoodMission learns which types of Missions work best for you, so the more you use MoodMission the better it gets at tailoring your Mission suggestions.

MoodMission is not a replacement for professional help. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or any mental health issue, talk to your GP or contact a psychologist for support.

I have tried so many different apps now for my anxiety. This app was recommended to me by a friend but with the bugs I found it a bit hard to use. It looks like they have fixed bugs though, and now I can enjoy the app. It has helped me understand more about my anxiety, and I love the colours of the app Thank you

There's nothing in it. You do the surveys then the only other things you can do is buy packages for random things that have nothing to do with all of the questions you answered (fear of flying???), and for free you can click a button if your depressed of anxious that has terrible advice like "walk your dog" or "get a haircut". That's it.

I'm very confused about this app. I finished all of the surveys, including the optional ones, but it has not seemed to "unlock MoodMission" unless the only missions are fear of public speaking, spiders, and flying.

would it be possible to fine tune a bit more for missions that are suitable for certain times of day? More specifically, late night insomnia based anxiety/depression missions, as lots of the missions are easier to complete in the day. (exercise, talk to a friend etc)

The survey was annoying to complete over the phone. It was hard to tell which items were completed and the position of the questions kept jumping around whenever I answered a question.

Doesn't do anything unless you pay :( Answered 4 questionnaires but it didn't unlock anything useful to me. Fear of public speaking, flying and spiders? Couldn't even work out how to buy the parts of app I wanted. Deleted.

Works much better now the surveys have been removed and all the bugs have been fixed. Helped me identify triggers and situations I hadn't realised can kick off my anxiety.

Forces people going through mental illness who need help through surveys they aren't motivated to do before they can use the app.

The scale sliders to indicate your mood are broken. Once you touch the circle indicator, it automatically jumps to the left and stays there. You can't move it. It's as if it's glued there. This renders the very function of this app as useless. I can't properly progress through this app if I can't answer the survey's initial questions correctly. Very disappointed.

I really liked this app, it is a wonderful way for finding new coping mechanisms. One thing though, my stats do not seem to be updating correctly. It says I have completed 21 missions but on the stats it has only recorded four. It would be great if there was a way that users could see the comparisons of the quizzes over time or targeted areas of improvement based on the data.

This app worked great until it stopped working completely. I reformatted my phone and reinstalled it only to have it put me on this screen with "optional" surveys and no way to get back to the actual content. I didn't realise there was a time limit or else I wouldn't have tried it in the first place.

When I might need it, it insists on taking several surveys in order to go on, so no thank you

Very nice app. It helps you in real time in dealing with your situation. It seems like taking the surveys are important to establish your mood.

I like that it gives you recommended strategies after each check-in and how it draws from a wide variety of coping mechanisms for you to use and you can choose which is best for you at that moment

Any app that forces to sign up / log in rates a fail from me.

Almost a perfect app. I love how the app looks and the concept is excellent. However, the UI is very confusing and leads the user around in circles a lot of the time. It could do with some simplification like having a home dashboard page that contains links and snippet info of the mission log, missions pending, favourites, stats, and achievements all in one place. Also, the stats and achievements are totally broken for me. It's counter-productive for a mood boosting app when it fails to show the users progress correctly. Fix these issues and I will gladly boost my rating to 5 stars.

MoodMission has a big variety of missions to lift your mood and help you deal. What's a bit annoying though, is that you get 10 completely random missions to choose from every time (you can favorite missions) and sometimes I need 3 or 4 tries until I get one I can actually do at the moment. I often use the app at night when "Go to the cinema and watch a random movie" just isn't a practical suggestion - neither are jumping jacks; don't have to wake everyone else just because I can't sleep.

Cant seem to answer anthin above middle on the dealing with problems survey, might just be being dumb here but idk

Lis. S. Mar 23, 2017

A nicely put together app, and it's great to have something Australian ... but it could very easily be adapted to suit Bipolar too. You just need to add 'Heightened' (and maybe anger too?) as one of the mood categories. Too many of these mood apps only cover depression and anxiety. C'mon, don't leave out bipolar, there's not enough out there for this mood disorder. It's like the neglected sibling in the mood disorder family.

I couldn't use the sliders on the "Dealing with Problems" page at all and I want my information to be as accurate as possible. The sliders jump all over the place and aren't controllable, then move on to the next question before I can try to fix it. So frustrating!! I want this app to work for me.

Elb. Mar 18, 2017

The interface was so poorly done it didn't even let me finish all of the surveys. Your ui designer has no idea what the word 'practical' means.

Ian. S. Apr 16, 2017

I Love how innovative this app is. This is great for me having Bipolar II. The mission interface makes it feel different and actually provides scientific backings too based on what tool it suggests. As a data person this is a great help. Awesome job and hope to see it keep growing and developing.

Best app out there for mood management. I am quite often out of the house, phone in pocket. This app has allowed me to take a few moments and refocus no matter where I am. Imgurians unite!

Car. S. Feb 8, 2017

I've been waiting for this to hit Android for months, and after using it for only a half an hour on its release date, I'm already very optimistic about it! Thank you for putting this out there to help people - for myself, and for all of those who can't thank you.

Ame. W. Mar 26, 2017

This is really helpful when I am distressed. I just wish it had something to stop me from getting sad. Like having goals when you are feeling fine to keep you happy. Or calming tips. Something like that.

Ell. S. Mar 20, 2017

Whilst the suggestions are excellent, I personally found it hard to input things and the options seemed to select whatever it wanted
