Morse Decoder for Ham Radio

Morse Decoder decodes Morse code characters through the built-in microphone of your Android device.
Morse Decoder can be used by Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators or anyone else interested in decoding Morse code from a Radio or any other device.Morse Decoder includes a "waterfall" to show a frequency spectrum of about 50Hz to 2300Hz. A narrow band DSP filter can be set for the frequency of the Morse code tones by tapping the waterfall. The DSP filter is followed by an automatic gain control (AGC) to compensate for changing signal strengths. The detected signal will be shown as a graph and several algorithms will then detect the speed of the Morse code and convert them into readable text. Speeds of less than 4 Wpm (Words per Minute) to more than 50 Wpm can be decoded.

For any question please visit our new forum at http://www.wolphi.com/forum/

This is the first version of Morse Decoder. It has been tested on several Android devices and it performed very well or even better than PC based decoding software. However, since we are not able to test the performance on all 150+ Android devices there is the possibility that Morse Decoder will not work on all devices. If Morse Decoder doesn’t work on your device you can uninstall Morse Decoder within 15 Minutes for a full refund (This is the time frame given by Google and I am not able to change it). If the 15 minutes passed and you are not happy with Morse Decoder email me as soon as possible at [email protected]. Please include your name and the model of your phone in the email. I will then refund you the money as fast as possible. It is important that you include the model of your device. I will try to find the cause for the malfunction or include your phone model in a list of “not working” devices.

Poor. There are no settings to adjust. I used a tone program with different speeds and different output frequencies and even different speakers. The app picked up less than 10% of the correct letters. The graph represented the pulses clearly so I'm not sure why the transcription failed.

I am really quite impressed with this app. Ive been out of the hobby so long my CW attempts were so rusty it needed an angle grinder to clean it up. This in conjunction with other apps helps to build up confidence again and is a great learning tool as well as a general purpose reader. Works well on a Galaxy Note 8. Money well spent IMHO. Thank you for your efforts.

I really wanted this to work so I bought it a second time. This time I did a better job of isolating the input from other sounds. It seems to be working although I haven't been able to find suitable very high speed for testing. I'm going too keep it this time and modify my review. Motorola Moto Z4.

Unfortunately this is a complete waste of money and dissapointing. I have purchased numerous wolfi apps that have been brilliant. This doesn't decode Morse no matter what I do in the settings. Also, dispite emailing I can't get any support or a refund. Really dissatisfied.

Sadly, it has a serious bug and won't decode, even if set to the correct tone. There was very little noise and the signals were very clear and strong.

Doesn't work. I can see the waterfall, and select a zone for CW detection, but nothing ever gets decoded. Tried a few different frequencies to no avail.

Once you play with it awhile, it turns out to be quit useful. I've had it on the phone about 2 days now and find no complaints, it does what it suppose to do! (KD9QDP)

Great App! I have used it for a while now and it does great with a straight key, paddle, and with the bug.

Works great for an Android app, have to go to setting and turn the squelch down before it will start working properly

Was picking up the morse clearly and appeared happy, but wasn't translating any sadly. I tried about twenty samples, then gave up.

i tuned to different very loud and clear signals, and it shows nothing on the Morse decoder window. not even garbage date... nothing.

this is the best morse code programs that I've seen. I've used several with little success. This one is,easy and works well.

Doesn't seem to work over the air all that well. Cables needed.

app does not work properly on Huawei y5 lite. Free apps work a lot better.

Way. C. Jul 17, 2020

I can see the code I'm sending clearly in the waterfall display, but the app isn't decoding anything

THIS IS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF $5.00!!! I TRIED TO DECODE REPEATER IDENTIFICATION AND I WAS HOPING TO VISUALIZE THE REPEATER CALLSIGN AND IT DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! UNINSTALLING!!!🤬👎

Didn't work for me. Showed graphs but didb"t print anything.

I tuned my SW radio to W1AW and was reading along in 15 seconds. That isn't a common situation, though. I tried it on a few other QSOs next. There was enough drift that I had to keep chasing the waterfall around, and the calls were short so it never really locked on. Still, it distinguished between two different senders even though they were going simultaneously. I would have a hard time doing that myself. If my VFO was more stable, I think it would've worked very well.

I knew after I tried it that It was a keeper. I am using it with the Wolphi interface and AT&T 8 inch tablet Trek HD Lollipop 4.0. My interface is modified with a single resistor & capacitor to work with the tablet. The rig is the Elecraft K2. I will notify Wolphi on exactly what I had to do to make it work - no big deal if you can solder. I plan to use this CW copy program at a demonstration event outside with my radio club . I will also demo RTTY and PSK31 with the same tablet and interface. The AT&T tablet would not recognize the interface without the modification. AF5U

I found moving the red lines to isolate the desired freq awkward. Needs + and - buttons to make it easier. Had to turn squelch off to get decoding working, once done and freq finally right worked well. Verdict, fiddly without improved user interface, but love it de G4POI

Dav. H. Jun 9, 2013

Every other one of Wolphi's ham radio apps work very well and I love them. But this one just won't decode any morse I have tried it with at any speed. Yet other morse apps, even free ones work fine. It will not work on my Sony Xperia phone or on my no-name tablet. David vk2dmh.

Does work but hopping for something better! Waterfall is to small to properly setup frequency. Maybe making it bigger or perhaps be able to change horizontal axis frequency range would be better. Also even all my apps have quite high input Mic gain, this app gain is quite low. Care to debug? 73 de SV1CDN.

I could learn to send CW, but would never be able to copy it. A little pricey, but it works with a good signal. (Its a contest weekend I think, so easy to find some strong signals)
