This used to be the best audiobook app. I've used versions of this going back to the old Windows Phones... this is pre iphone and pre android. And I have been using it on android for some time. BUT as other people have said, it has developed a bug where it crashes every time you access an audio book. It "works" if you just reload several times to do whatever you want to do. It is "functional"... barely. But it is in serious need of a patch and the developer is apparently entirely asleep at the switch. I can't recommend this app in its current condition.
Although this is the only music player that has a resume and bookmark function, it is one of the most unstable apps I have ever encountered, freezing or force-closing half the time. The resume function only works randomly. Most times it'll forget what it was playing and start with a random file. It also cannot access the internal storage. It has not been updated in years so I assume the developer is no longer working on it.
Was good while it lasted. Scroll down. Last update: July 2012. It has everything I personally need - I'm not a fancy tagging meta-whatever user. I just copy audio files over to it's folder, refresh folder data, and carry on. Now that crashing bug is here. And strangeness in the folder it points to. I have old stuff I want to delete but cannot. The folders appear empty and don't show up on my list within the app. Or I will copy a folder over like normal, from pc to phone via usb, and it seems to copy. But I can't access the folder for some reason - within MortPlayer. I can't tell what the difference is between those folders and the others. So basically I can't play all the audios I want, for some reason. They play fine on PC. It is with trepidation that I move along - I don't trust half these apps with their spammy adds and everything being subscription-based. My phone runs hot while turned off - I remove whatever I just installed. I'll miss this little guy's face, but it's time to find another solid audiobook player with a chill interface yet feature rich.
I'm a huge fan of this and the music player, but since Android has updated so much since 2012 (the last time MortPlayer was updated) things have gotten unstable. I still use it to play single files at night since I haven't found another app which will stop after one file plays. I do wish he'd come back and do some updates for the new Android versions, but I'm afraid that's not going to happen. Strangely, I chose these apps based on the name (he's a Terry Pratchett fan, as am I), but it's been a great choice for many years. Here's hoping for an update.
I've been using this app for years. It's by far the best audio book player I've used or seen. Has a sleep timer, optional ads even on the free version although i paid, it's not expensive and totally worth it. You can set up different folders for audio books and music if you have files for both. Excellent app!
Amazing app. Doesnt lose your place in large audio files. Make bookmarks and notes. Huge customization menu for appearance, playback and interface, menus, folders, etc. Custom widgets. Equalizer presets, bass boost, and reverb. There's an option to disable ads, but I haven't seen ads anywhere in this comprehensive and robust app.
Really like this player. Thanks. I have been trying other players and have settled on this one as it is feature rich and works well. I have two questions: 1. If possible, how do I change the playback speed? Some audio books are read too slow for me and I like to speed them up a little. If this is not an existing feature them maybe you can add it? 2. Can you point me to a link that explains how to get the book cover on the widget. It does appear in the main player.
Great app, many different features that can be enabled from the settings. Requires some fiddling to make it what you want, but once you set it up it's perfect. Many customization options, and it even stops the book when you get a notification or even directions in a GPS app.
This app has everything I need in an audio book player. It's easy to use and just the default settings are very convenient. And more or less everything is customisable if you want to. I've been using it for a few years now and have never felt that something I would want is missing. It's simple, it works, and some thought have been put into making it a player that is great straight out of the box.
Dear Mirko, thanks for great app, I use it every day to make my eyes rest. Could you please add a history of last played files? Sometimes I switch between books, append downloaded content in file manager for the book and reload a folder so context is lost. Since there is no bookmark I need to find the right file to continue listening where I stopped last time which takes quite a lot of time.
Very good - IF it works. It's OK on my tablet (Android 7.) On my phone, Android 9, the sound disappears after a few operations and won't return until the app is restarted. I don't think the app is supported any more which is a pity.
I love this app and have used it for years. Thanks to the Developers. My only suggestion is that a whole book can be deleted instead of having to delete by sections. It is having some problems running on my newer Android. If you come up with a newer version I would love to know about it.
Lacks basic features like playback speed and the interface is confusing, clunky, and ugly. App works well otherwise, but I'll be switching to a different app that is easier to use and has playback speed controls.
I've been using this app for years for audiobook playback. Yes, the UI is dated, but it's feature-rich, and free. It doesn't annoy with advertising, and it works flawlessly, provided you take the time to learn how to use it properly.
Very nice audio book app, works great with all of my audio book files, best feature is remembering where you stopped listening & starting again from that same place, which in a 3hr file is very useful. Thanks for all your hard work.
There are some good features; but the separation into music and book renders either essentially unusable for playing language courses. In book mode, you can't loop on a dialog, and there are some other missing features. In music mode, you can't move back a few seconds when you pause. A good file manager like X-plorer remains the most practical choice.
